A BREEZE TO PAINT
Mix adhesive with water to the consistency of toothpaste and
apply to top and bottom of moulding, then stick to the wall and
ceiling.
IT'S THAT EASY!
Wipe away excess adhesive with your finger or sponge and
lightly sand if needed.

Trimroc™ recomends the use of gypsum based adhesives
commercially available at most national chain hardware supply
stores. Each product is available with setting times of 45 or 90
minutes. Select setting times according to job size or mix.

A.
Starting at a corner, cut inside and outside mitres so that there
is no greater that 1/8" gap at the joint (See photo #2).
Premitred inside and outside corners are also available.

B.
After mixing the required amount of adhesive (toothpaste
consistency), apply a bead of adhesive to top and bottom
edges.

C. While adhesive is still wet, press into ceiling corner and "finger
tool" excess to create a smooth joint.

NOTE: No fasteners are required for this procedure.
D. When joining inside, outside or butt lengths of Trimroc™,
apply 1/4"
/ adhesive to one side off adjoining piece (See

#6) and let adhesive "ooze" from the joint.
IMPORTANT: Wipe off excess using a damp sponge, but do
not wipe clean.
E. Let adhesive dry. Sand smooth (See photo #7) with a fine grit
sanding sponge or using an ornamental tool fill or scrape away
as required.

F. Finished joint should be smooth and ready to prime and paint
as shown below.
NOTE: Trimroc™ will accept all water, oil, or acrylic based
paints.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
A.
Pre-manufactured interior pre-coated foam shapes consisting of: Pre-cut foam and
lightweight polymer-modified, flexible cementitious coating with acrylic plaster finish.
TRIMROC™.

TRIMROC FR™ fire-resistant, as above, with a fiberglass mesh. Back of product
stamped TRIMROC FR™.

TERMS/DEFINITIONS
Note: Adhesive attachment is standard method of attachment.
A.
Adhesive: A material used to attach Interior Precoated Foam Shapes to substrate.
B.
Reinforcing Mesh: Balanced, open weave alkali resistant glass fiber fabric, treated for
compatibility with other materials of system, which functions to strengthen system.
C.
C-MOLD™ Interior Coating: A finish ready base material applied to face of foam shapes
that is flexible, durable, and ready for Finish Coat.
D.
Finish Coat: A decorative coating applied to C-Mould Interior Coating, product as
manufactured by others and approved by CANAMOULD EXTRUSIONS INC.
C-MOLD™ Interior Coating requires finish coat.

DESIGN LIMITATIONS
A.
Maximum allowable substrate system deflection, normal to plane of wall: L/240.
B.
Details shall conform with CANAMOULD EXTRUSIONS INC. recommendations and
shall be consistent with Project requirements. Consult with CANAMOULD
EXTRUSIONS INC. when special non-standard shapes or conditions arise.
Note: Expansion and control joints are required in system where they exist in substrate, and
where system adjoins dissimilar construction. Specify sealant in appropriate Section.
C.
Terminate Interior Precoated Foam Shapes System at expansion joints. Sealant shall be
detailed and installed. Refer to typical details.
D.
Do not apply urethane based Finish Coat to Interior Precoated Foam Shapes System.
1.07
QUALITY ASSURANCE
A.
Contractor Requirements:

1.
Perform work of this Section by a company that has proven experience in
installing Interior Precoated Foam Shapes System of a similar size and nature and
that is approved by the Manufacturer.
2.
Provide proper equipment, workers and supervision on job site to install Interior
Precoated Foam Shapes System in compliance with Contract Documents and
manufacturer’s specifications and recommendations.
Mock-up:
1.
Construct one mock-up of each type of Interior Precoated Foam Shapes System in
location acceptable to Owner/Consultant.
2.
Arrange for Owner’s/Consultant's review and acceptance, allow 48 hours after
acceptance before proceeding with Work.
3.
Mock-up may remain as part of Work if accepted by Owner/Consultant. Remove
and dispose of mock-ups which do not form part of Work.
4.
Upon acceptance, mock-up shall serve as a minimum standard of quality for the
balance of the work of this Section.

SUBMITTALS

Submit in accordance with Section 01340.

Product data, including literature, specifications, product limitations, application
instructions and details.
Samples: Submit before Project commences, 300 mm samples of each shape of
Interior Precoated Foam Shapes to be utilized on Project. Label samples with
manufacturer’s identification markings.
Certification:
a.
Current product test data and test results indicating compliance with
specified performance.
b.
Written certification of compliance with specified testing procedures and
related specifications.
1.09
PRODUCT DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
A.
Deliver materials supplied by system manufacturer in original, unopened and undamaged
packaging with legible manufacturer’s identification and labels intact.
B.
Store products supplied by system manufacturer in a cool, dry place protected from direct
sunlight, weather and other damage. Store all wet materials at a temperature of not less
than 10oC (50o F) and with a relative humidity below 80% at all times.
C.
Make available material safety data sheets (MSDS) for adhesives and joint compounds.

PROJECT
A.
Environmental Conditions:
1.
Install adhesive and joint compound materials at an ambient temperature of 10oC
(50o F) and with the relative humidity below 80% and maintain for a minimum of
12 hours before, during, and after application.
2.
Provide supplemental heat for applications when temperature is less than 10oC
(50o F). Provide sufficient ventilation and time to ensure that materials have
sufficiently cured prior to removing supplemental heat.

and conforming to ASTM C475.
B.
Insulation core: Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) conforming to physical properties of
ASTM C 578, Type 2 or CAN/ULC-S701, Type 2, 32 kg/m3 (2 lb/cu ft) density.
C.
CANAMOULD C-MOLD™ INTERIOR COATING: lightweight polymer-modified
coating with acrylic plaster finish, flame spread classification of 4 and smoke developed
of less than 5 when tested in accordance with CAN/ULC-S102, pressure applied coating
by extrusion process in a climate controlled factory, 3.125 mm (0.125”) minimum
thickness.

Joint Compound: All purpose joint compound conforming to ASTM C475.

Finish Coat: type, color, and texture as selected by Owner/Consultant and approved for
use over Interior Precoated Foam Shapes by CANAMOULD EXTRUSIONS INC.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01
SUBSTRATE
A.
Substrate shall be of a type approved by of Interior Precoated Foam Shapes System
manufacturer.
Verify substrate surfaces are solid, free from moisture, dust, projections, and any other
foreign matter detrimental to performance and compatible with adhesive.
B.
C.
Substrate shall be free of planar irregularities greater than 6.4 mm (1/4-in.) in 2.4 m (8’0”) and shall be sound and free of foreign substances.
D.
Report unsatisfactory conditions to Contractor for correction by substrate installer before
application of system.
3.02
PREPARATION
A.
Adhesive and joint compound: Premixed as received from manufacturer prior to
beginning application. Add clean potable water to powdered products and mix in
accordance with package instructions.
3.03
APPLICATION
A.
Install Interior Precoated Foam Shapes System smooth, seamless, plumb, true, flush,
and with square, plumb, and neat corners.
B.
Apply a 9.5 mm (3/8") to 12 mm (½") bead of adhesive to the top and bottom back
surface of Interior Precoated Foam Shapes.
C.
While adhesive is still wet, press into ceiling corner and tool excess adhesive to create a
smooth joint.
D.
When joining inside, outside, or butt lengths of Interior Precoated Foam Shapes System,
apply 6 mm (1/4") joint compound to one side of adjoining piece and joint with constant
pressure ensuring a void free joint. Wipe off excess joint compound, but do not wipe
clean.
E.
Let joint compound dry and sand smooth with a fine grit sanding sponge or scrape
smooth using a Wind-lock ornamental tool.

Finished joint should be smooth and ready for Finish Coat.

Finish Coat:
A.
Apply Finish Coat to Interior Precoated Foam Shapes System in accordance with
Finish Coat system Manufacturer’s written instructions.
B.
Apply finish coat over CANAMOULD C-MOLD™ Interior Coating in
accordance with finish manufacturer’s current published instructions.
C.
Specify texture and color of finish in accordance with approved sample. All
mechanics applying and texturing finish shall utilize same tools, equipment and
techniques to achieve uniformity.

Product Covered:
Trimroc™ Panels – Three (3) 8 foot x 2 foot panels were fitted end to end to form a
2’-0” x 24’-0” sample.
Results
Flame Spread Index: 0
Smoke Developed Value: 0
Since the sample received a Flame Spread of 0 and a Smoke Developed Value of 0, it would fall
into the Class A Interior Wall & Ceiling Finish Category.

ASTM E84-01
Standard Test Method for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials
Product Covered:
20mm thick x 240mm wide expanded polystyrene foam sample with a 3mm thick cementitious
coating with fiberglass mesh, and a 1mm thick top coat of plaster.
Results
Flame spread (FS) is 7.5
Smoke Developed (SD) is 0
Standard UL 1715
Fire Test of Interior Finish Material
Product Covered:
Trimroc™ architectural mouldings consisting of a Type 2 expanded polystyrene (EPS) core
surfaced on the exposed faces with an application of fiberglass mesh reinforcement, a
cementitious base coat, and a gypsum top coat.
Results
All components remained attached to the wall throughout the test. At no point did any of the
architectural mouldings partially or completely fall off the gypsum wallboard.
The protective covering remained in place over the EPS foam core, at all locations within the
room compartment.
At no point during the test was surface burning observed to propagate to the extremities of the
test specimen.
At the conclusion of the test there was no combustive damage evident on the protective covering
of the mouldings.
