Dear Northwoods Parents,
Happy Easter! This past week was filled with opportunities to grow in God’s graces and we are now in a season
of renewal – Halleluiah! As we travel through these fifty days of the Easter season, I hope that your joy in
Christ's resurrection continues.
Some reminders about upcoming events at NCS include:
Easter Feast on Wednesday, 4/11, for PK3&4
Apologetics this Thursday, 4/12, at 9am
Calendar change: Sport’s Banquet/Family Fun Fest has been moved to May 12, 2012, from 11am-3pm
Poetry Competitions next Monday, 4/16, 4th-8th held at 9am; K-3rd held at 1pm
Please check the Lost and Found bin for missing items – any items not collected by this Friday, 4/13,
will be donated to charity
Remember to leave any prayer requests at the front desk – the teacher’s prayer group meets weekly on

MARRIAGE MENTORING TRAINING

Marriage Mentoring is a marriage enrichment and education
strategy that pairs experienced married couples alongside younger
married couples to help the latter navigate through the ups and
downs of married life. The average amount of time the couples
stay connected varies but is generally six to twelve months. Many
friendships are often forged and successful mentor relationship
can last informally for years!
The program Marriage Mentoring has been used in faith communities all across the country with great success for several decades.
It is a natural continuation of the preparation couples receive before they are married. This type of program is the answer to our
Church’s call for pastoral care and nurturing of married couples.
The Family Life Office will soon offer training for Marriage Mentors.
If you are interested in training Marriage Mentors for your parish or
would like to become a Marriage Mentor with your spouse please
register for this training.

MARRIAGE MENTORING TRAINING

Some say that marriage is the riskiest venture most people undertake
in their lives. It has its own set of obstacles, strong currents, and obstructions …including the risk that the relationship might capsize. For
example, under current trends, young people marrying face a 40-50%
risk of divorce in their first 8 years of marriage. However, many begin
this exciting, yet risky journey on their own. Increasingly, churches are
developing marriage mentoring programs in an effort to provide
younger couples with experienced guides to help them on their marital
journey.
We, the Office of Family Life Ministry wants to offer an opportunity to
some couples that may want to serve other couples to face the usual
risks of marriage. All those couples with healthy, stable relationships
that want to become positive role models for these couples are invited
to be trained as mentor couples.
This training will be held at St. Dominic Archdiocesan Center on April
21, 2012, free of charge.
