Hand puppets, rod puppets, shadow puppets,
marionettes – The Great Arizona Puppet
theater’s got them all! Housed in a restored
historic building in downtown Phoenix, the
theater is the second largest puppet
performance space in the entire USA. The lobby
area always exhibits puppets, and the gift shop
offers every sort of puppet and puppetry item
imaginable! And, before every performance,
young audience members can make a
paper-bag puppet of their very own!
Títeres de mano, títeres de vara, títeres de sombra,
marionetas – ¡el Gran Teatro de Títeres de Arizona los
tiene todos! Este teatro, que tiene su sede en un

Here’s a really terrific way
to remember all you learned today!
Experiment by sticking your hand in a sock and
turning it into a simple puppet. (You’ll help it talk,
of course!)

LET YOUR FINGERS
DO THE WALKING…
Put on a puppet play of your own! The stage
can be just the edge of a table or a big
cardboard box, but making actors takes a little
more work. Follow the instructions to make a
whole cast of stage-worthy finger-puppet
characters!

Place a piece of paper
over the pattern and
trace – one body for
each character.
Coloca un pedazo de

Add ears for
animals or people.
Ponle orejas para

Use crayons, markers, or colored
pencils to draw the face and hands
and cut out the puppet. Fold the
arms/front legs forward.
Design your own
hands, paws, or
claws.

patas o garras
que desees.

Fold the paper on the circles’ dotted line
and cut out the holes. Stick your fingers
through them to make legs for your
puppet.
Dobla el papel en la línea de puntos

On the back of the puppet,
put tape behind the circles
so the paper won’t tear when
you put your fingers through
the holes.
