“Experiencing God`s Rest”
2014 Texico Convocation and Youth Festival “Experiencing God’s Rest” June 5 - 7, 2014 Thursday Night - Saturday Night Albuquerque Convention Center 401 2nd Street NW Albuquerque, New Mexico “Experiencing God’s Rest” Phil Robertson Lee-Roy Chacon Texico Conference Executive Secretary/Treasurer Texico Conference President We live in a hectic society where the majority of people do not know how to have personal quiet time. If we are not on our computer, we are with our ipad, cell phone, calling or texting. Quiet time is becoming more a novelty than the norm. The words of Jesus written over 2,000 years ago still have relevance to modern society; “Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.” When our Savior needed a break from His daily toil, He separated from the crowd, prayed and rested. We need that kind of rest today. Jesus said, “The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath.” (Mark 2:27, 28). The Sabbath is a means by which our living pattern imitates God’s. Work is followed by rest. Sabbath rest is a time for God’s people to think about and enjoy what God has accomplished. The Hebrew word meaning “rest” embodies this idea, “But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall not do any work,” (Deut. 5:14). God’s people are directed to keep the Sabbath because God delivered and redeemed His people from the bondage in Egypt. Thus, the Sabbath is an ordinance that relates directly to redemption. Sabbath rest also holds the promise of the ultimate deliverance that God will accomplish for His people. As certainly as He delivered Israel from Egypt through Moses, so will He deliver His people at the end of the age through the Great Redeemer. Finally, the Sabbath includes the idea and practice of celebrating rest, or salvation. To this end, God declared that His Sabbath was a day for public convocation. Let us “Experience God’s Rest” during this Convocation as we celebrate what God has done for us. May the 2014 Texico Convocation/Camp Meeting be a time of rest from our daily labor as we remember God’s Holy “cathedral in time.” 1 Table of Contents Page Adult Schedule......................................................................... 3 After Hours Stage ..................................................................... 4 English Speakers / Musical Guests......................................... 5 Spanish Speakers (Oradores) /Young Adults........................ 6 Youth Schedule /Speaker / Activities...................................... 7 Children’s Department / Schedule......................................... 8 Children’s Activities............................................................... 9 Hotel Information..................................................................10 Meal Information................................................................. 11 Menu....................................................................................... 12 Adventist Book Center........................................................... 13 Meeting Locations................................................................. 14 2 Adult Schedule Thursday June 5 Friday June 6 Sabbath June 7 Sábado Junio 7 Morning Devotional 7:00 - 7:45 A.M.
