Hawthorn Will Test the Emergency Message System
on the Evening of Sunday, October 27
The message will go to the phone, email and text messages you
selected through the PowerSchool website. If you do not set preferences,
the message will go to the student home phone number provided at registration.

How To: Directions for logging on to PowerSchool and setting preferences were provided in your
student’s Midterm Report envelope, which came home on October 10.

Text messages: On October 17, our provider sent a text message to all cell phones on file allowing
you to sign up for text notification by replying “Y” to the message. (The message was sent to comply
with wireless regulations.) You may also sign up any cell phone by texting “subscribe” to 68453.
Contact Info: Changing your PowerSchool preferences does not change the information in your
student’s permanent file. If your contact information has changed, please notify your school.
Parents are not required to access PowerSchool to receive emergency messages. If no
changes are made to preferences, Hawthorn will provide messages to the student home
phone number. We will also continue to communicate through the methods outlined at right.

which in turn sends information
to local radio and TV stations.
