decade, Saglas remains committed to
different ministries and local and regional
government. The nineties were
characterized by be able to expand and

This is the main speciality of the company. The experience
of Saglas in civil work and building is vouched for by the

Airports
Saglas brings great experience in different runways works,

EXCAVATION OF THE HIGH-VOLTAGE CABLE
IN MADRID-BARAJAS AIRPORT
SAGLAS executed the total civil work of the excavation of
the 400 kV. cable of the electric network. They employed
more than 14 kms. of prefabricated concrete tube and carried out the deployment under the Jarama river, besides
executing all the substations required for these cables. The
enlargement of terminal T4 of the Madrid-Barajas Airport
required the burying of the electric network for the construction of two runways.
This was a world reference work for the subterranean construction of a high volume/ high-voltage electric cable, carried out to date.

COLEGIO INMACULADA CONCEPCIÓN
Expansion
of the facilities
The expansion of the building site improves the utilization
of the inner courtyard of Colegio Inmaculada Concepción
which comprises an area of 2.500 m2. The expansion will
include new sport tracks, a multi-purpose-auditorium distributed over an area of 800 m2, two heated indoor swimming pools and a parking lot with 80 spaces.
It is a unique construction since the complete new site was
built over the ground level due to the urban design requirements. This allows light to enter through a circular window with peripheral shape located in a slab that leads to
the English courtyards.
The building site was carried out in a two-stage process according to a turnkey project by Alberto Martín de Lucio.
1st stage: Demolition of the existing structure in the courtyard of the school, construction of a peripheral pile wall,
piles and shafts, steel beams and a roof structure to build
the new courtyard and sport tracks with porous pavement.
2ª stage: casting under the slab with a depth of nine meters (30.000 m3), foundation of the site and an intermediate reticular framework. Construction of the pool
structure, of an air-conditioning-system and electric connections, communication services, fire detection and extinction equipment, forced extraction through impulse
ventilating systems, aluminium carpentry with thermal
break profiles, PVC floors for sport uses, false acoustic insulating roofs, etc.

SERVICE FOR THE EXECUTION OF THE PLAN
Expedient of recent awarding. To reach the optimum objectives defined by the Madrid/ Barajas Airport requires:
• Specialist machinery to ensure winter viability, comprised of 15 vehicles equipped with sweeper plough and snow
blower, 17 vehicles with plough and bulk spreaders, 5 liquid spreaders, 25 mini excavators and another 28 support vehicles.
• The necessary personnel for the machinery management,
including 90 drivers/operators, besides personnel for execution of other works.
• The season’s snow melting materials, with 400,000 litres
of liquid snow melting material, 150,000 kg. of anticaking

the landside of the State Building, so that they can be used
by helicopters for individuals transferred to/from this

road signs in the airport development and departure
lounge pump maintenance, hydraulics network, hydrocarbons distribution plants and water impulsion deposit. We
