Church, Concrete. We are two individual parishes and one mission church ministered to by our Pastor, Fr. Martin Bourke, with the
assistance of Parochial Vicar, Fr. Francisco Cancino. In addition to sharing clergy, the churches share Pastoral Assistant for Finance,
Jamie Cline ([email protected] or 360-336-6622, ext. 23). Fr. Martin and Jamie have their offices at the Immaculate Conception
Parish Center located at 215 N. 15th St. in Mount Vernon, Fr. Francisco’s office is at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish located at 719
Ferry St., Sedro-Woolley.
If you are new to the area, we invite you to register. Registration forms are available in the vestibule of each church.

The Baptism of Our Lord
January 10, 2016
Jesus, whom God called “my beloved Son,” is also the “servant” of whom Isaiah speaks in the first reading.
We who are baptized in Christ must follow His example and use our time and resources in the service of God
and neighbor.

The Holy Door of John Lateran Cathedral
Going from memory, Pope Francis in his role as Pope opened a Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica on December 8, 2015.
Then on December 13, as Archbishop of Rome, the Pope opened a Holy Door at John Lateran Cathedral, in union with
Bishops all over the world as they opened Holy Doors in their Cathedrals. Please find below part of his homily from
John Lateran. A Jubilee Year of Mercy has just begun, let us find a way to participate.
“We have opened the Holy Door, here and in all the cathedrals of the world. Even this simple sign is an invitation to joy. It
begins a time of the great forgiveness. It is the Jubilee of Mercy. It is time to rediscover the presence of God and his fatherly
tenderness. God does not love rigidity. He is Father; He is tender; everything done with the tenderness of the Father. We too,
like the crowds asked John, "What do we do?" (Lk 3:10). The response of the Baptist was immediate. He invites us to act justly and to look after the needs of those in need. What John demands of his representatives, however, it is what is reflected in
the law. We, however, are prompted toward a more radical commitment. Before the Holy Door we are called to cross, we are
asked to be instruments of mercy, knowing that we will be judged on this. He who is baptized knows he has a greater commitment. Faith in Christ leads to a journey that lasts for a lifetime: to be merciful, like the Father. The joy of crossing through
the Door of Mercy is accompanied by a commitment to welcome and witness to a love that goes beyond justice, a love that
knows no boundaries. It is from this infinite love that we are responsible, in spite of our contradictions.
We pray for us and for all who pass through the Door of Mercy, that we may understand and welcome the infinite love of our
Heavenly Father, recreates, transforms and reforms life.” Pope Francis.

Join Us for the March for Life
Take the bus to Olympia on Tuesday, January 19th, for the annual event that shows the legislators in Olympia our support for prolife issues. The bus leaves Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Sedro-Woolley at 8:00 AM and stops at
Emmanuel Baptist Church on College Way at 8:30AM. It will return at approximately 5:00 PM. Bring your lunch,
snacks and water (no other drinks allowed on the bus). Donations of $10 per person or $25 per family for the bus are

Catholic Schools Week is February 1-5. Seniors are invited to a school Mass on Thusday, February 4, at 10:30 a.m.
followed by a luncheon at St. Joseph Center. Please call the school to RSVP, 360-428-3912.
TUITION ASSISTANCE APPLICATIONS ARE DUE JANUARY 15, 2016. Start here: icrsweb.org. (Fulcrum is the same
application for local assistance as well.) There is a $24 fee, which Fulcrum will reimburse if parents enroll their students
in Catholic schools next year and qualify. If you need help with the application process, please set up an appointment

The Tri-Parish Food Bank is in need of blankets, jackets and socks. We have many people who are in
desperate situations, especially the homeless and children. If you are able to help, please drop off donations
at St Charles Church.

SAVE THE DATE!!!
Immaculate Conception Church will celebrate Mardi Gras
with a fundraiser on Saturday, February 6, 2016. Tickets are
$25 each. Your meal inlcudes BBQ pork and chicken, baked
beans, cole slaw, potato salad, dessert and one drink of your
choice (wine, beer or soda). Tickets must be purchased in
advance and are available at the office or after weekend Mass at ICC until
Friday, January 29, 2016. Once again we have “Mike in the Morning” as
our DJ and a 40” television for a raffle item.Wear your Mardi Gras masks or
make one at the dance. Don’t miss out on this fun annual dinner and dance.
All proceeds benefit the new church. Adults only per Washington State laws
for alcohol sales and consumption.
Men’s Clothing Drive
Our annual St. Martin de Porres Men's Clothing Collection began on Saturday, January 2, and runs through Sunday, January 17.
St Martin dePorres is a Catholic homeless shelter located on the Seattle waterfront for men over 50. They provide beds for over 200 men each
night. The shelter staff and recipients are always very grateful for our generosity.
Needed items this year are: underwear/undershirts (including long
johns), shirts, pants, jeans, socks, coats, gloves, hats, shoes, shower sandals,
and toiletries.
Please place your donated items in the box at the back of the church.
Feeling Blessed
Over the Holy Season of Christmas, I have received numerous cards and letters offering prayers, good wishes and blessings. It is humbling to be the recipient of such good will.
As we begin 2016 I wish to express my sincerest thanks for all the greetings and messages that have shown up on my
desk. I am truly rich in the love of parishioners.
In this note I promise that all of you will be included in every Mass I celebrate in 2016.
May God grant you peace and harmony throughout this coming 12 months.

MARCH FOR LIFE
Human Life of Sedro-Woolley
invites you to mark your calendars
for this very important “trip” to
Olympia to stand up for all life from conception to
natural death. This trip will take place on January
19th, 2016. The bus will depart from the church hall
parking lot at 8:00 a.m. Your donation of $10.00
helps to defray the costs of this worthwhile cause.
VOLUNTEERS
We are so thankful to all the people who have,
through the years, given of their time to make our
worship weekends run smoothly. But as time goes
on these special people, for whatever reasons, must
step down and we are left with ministries which need
new volunteers. Won’t you consider helping with
the following ministries:
Lead Usher for Satur day evening Mass,
Altar Servers for Satur day evening Mass,
Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers and Sacristans.
All of these ministries require training which will be
provided to you until you are comfortable and able
to continue on your own. Please come into the office, Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30
p.m. to sign up or have your questions answered.

Community Action of Skagit County network for

You may have noticed the Blue Sign in the Vestibule. It is a campaign that our Hispanic brothers and
sisters in Christ are promoting to help with the
church. It means, “Your strength and effort for the
good of the church.” One hour of your pay for six

La Puerta Santa de la Catedral de Juan de Letrán
Recordando al Papa Francisco, cuando abrió la puerta Santa en la Basílica de San Pedro el 8 de diciembre de 2015.
Después, el 13 de diciembre, como arzobispo de Roma, el Papa abrió una Puerta Santa en la Catedral de Juan de Letrán, en unión con Obispos de todo el mundo, ya que se abrieron puertas santas en todas sus catedrales. A continuación les dejo una parte de su homilía en de San Juan de Letrán. El año jubilar de la Misericordia acaba de empezar,
encontremos una manera de participar.
"Hemos abierto la Puerta Santa, aquí y en todas las catedrales del mundo. Incluso este simple signo es una invitación
a la alegría. Comienza una época de gran perdón. Es el Jubileo de la Misericordia. Es hora de volver a descubrir la presencia de Dios y su ternura paternal. Dios no ama la rigidez. pollo, frijoles horneados, ensalada de col, ensalada de patatas, postre y una bebida de su elección (vino, cerveza o refresco). Los boletos deberán comprarse con anticipación y
están disponibles hasta el viernes, 29 de enero del 2016. Una vez más tenemos a "Mike in the Morning" como nuestro DJ y ya tenemos una televisión de
40 pulgadas para una rifa. Use sus máscaras de carnaval o haga una en el baile.

COLECTA DE ROPA PARA HOMBRES
Nuestra colecta anual a la casa hogar “San Martin de Porres” estará en efecto

San Martin de Porres, es una casa Hogar Católica para hombres adultos sin
hogar localizada en Seattle. Aquí se proveen camas a mas de 200 hombres
cada noche, El personal y los hermanos necesitados siempre lo agradecen de
corazón, estaremos colectando artículos de primera necesidad como: ropa
interior, camisas, pantalones, calcetines, chamarras, guantes, gorros, zapatos,
y artículos de necesitamos: ropa interior, camisas, pantalones, calcetines, chamarras, guantes, gorros, zapatos, y artículos de baño como champú, rastrillos,
etc. Cajas para sus donaciones se encontraran en la entrada de la Iglesia.
Me siento muy bendecido
Durante la Temporada santa de Navidad, he recibido numerosas cartas y tarjetas en las que me ofrecen sus oraciones,
buenos deseos y bendiciones. Es un gran honor ser el receptor de su buena voluntad.
Al comenzar este 2016, deseo expresar mi más sincero agradecimiento a todos sus saludos y mensajes que han aparecido
en mi escritorio. Estoy realmente millonario en el amor de los feligreses.

Noticias de la Iglesia Inmaculado Corazón de María, Sedro-Woolley
Servicios Comunitarios Católicos (SCC), les invita a par ticipar
en una reunión con el Director Regional de SCC, para compartir
sobre las necesidades de la comunidad hispana en el condado de
Skagit. SCC está haciendo una asesoría de cuáles son las necesidades más urgentes para la comunidad y quiere ofrecer más servicios
sociales para la comunidad Hispana. La reunión llevará acabo el
miércoles, 20 de enero, a las 6:00 PM, aquí en la parroquia, en el
salón de catecismo. Su voz es importante! Les esperamos para

Seguramente ya observe el letrero azul en el vestíbulo. Se trata de una campaña de la comunidad hispana para ayudar a nuestra Iglesia. ” Una hora de su
sueldo durante 6 semanas consecutivas irán a
nuestra Iglesia!
Si a usted le gustaría ofrecer alguna intención en la
misa delas 9:00am de los domingos, por favor
venga a la oficina y haga su solicitud, para que
podamos publicarla en el boletín. Se sugiere una
donación la cual es de mucha ayuda.
Los Caballeros de Colón están participando en el programa: "Abrigos
para los Niños". Desde el 2009, Los
Caballeros han distribuido más de
300.000 abrigos en todo Estados
Unidos y Canadá. Los Caballeros
compran abrigos nuevos en una variedad de tamaños por menos de $20.00 cada uno. Hemos recibido
seis cajas de 12 abrigos cada una, y con su ayuda
podremos pedir muchos más para los niños en nuestra área que necesitan un buen abrigo. Hemos dado
algunas chaquetas que ya están en concrete, y estamos utilizando community Action Services, del Condado de Skagit para su distribución. Por favor, póngase en contacto con Doug Hutter al 360-853-5344 para
