Summer at Sacred Heart Parish
On July 1st the sisters of the Disciples of Jesus will move permanently to
Sacred Heart Parish. This event will be a historical event for the parish,
and for the Diocese. How many times have any of us witnessed a
religious order of nuns move into a parish or a diocese? Few have
experienced anything like this.
Three sisters from this order based in San Luis Potosi will move into the
Convent. Our Convent has been empty of nuns since 2002. Elizabeth
Carrillo, our Parish Administrator, along with a team of builders have
overseen the renovation of the Convent. The building has a new roof.
The mold and asbestos that caused problems there are gone. The plumbing has new pipes
and the bathrooms are all newly tiled. By the time the sisters arrive for good it will be a very
nice place for them to live and pray, serving our community. A new private chapel has been
constructed for them so that they can worship in community. These are a praying,
contemplative religious order, dedicated to evangelization. They will bring us many blessings
through the Holy Spirit.
There are seven bedrooms in the Convent. Let’s pray that they eventually fill all seven
bedrooms.
We are planning a warm welcome for them on Friday, July 1 st, with music and food, a
welcome Bilingual Mass and a blessing of the Convent.
I invite you to pray for the sisters as they are currently on retreat, preparing to serve Sacred
Heart Parish. We expect them to arrive around 6pm on Friday, July 1. Bilingual Mass will start
around 7:30pm.
It is my hope that their arrival will be grand celebration for them and us. I hope your children
will tell their grandchildren about the joy and happiness they experienced the day the sisters
arrived, many decades from now. Let’s make it a joyful memory for all. All are invited to come
and celebrate their arrival.

This Week in our parish
Verano en la Parroquia del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús
El 1 de julio, la orden de hermanas “Discípulas de Jesús” permanentemente se mudaran a la
Parroquia del Sagrado Corazón. Este será un evento histórico para la parroquia y para la
Diócesis. ¿Cuántas veces hemos tenido la oportunidad de presenciar que una orden de
religiosas se muden a una parroquia o a una Diócesis? Muy pocos han experimentado algo
similar.
Tres hermanas de esta orden con Sede en San Luis Potosí se mudaran al Convento. Nuestro
Convento ha estado vacante desde el 2002. Nuestra administradora, Elizabeth Carrillo, junto
con un equipo de trabajadores han supervisado la renovación del Convento. El edificio tiene un
nuevo techo. El molde y el asbesto que causaron problemas ya no están. Se cambio toda la
tubería de drenaje y los baños tienen nuevos azulejos. Para el tiempo en que lleguen las
hermanas será un lugar muy agradable para que ellas puedan vivir y orar, sirviendo a nuestra
comunidad. Una nueva Capilla privada se ha construido para que ellas puedan adorar en
comunidad. Esta es una orden religiosa de mucha oración y contemplación, dedicadas a la
evangelización. Ellas nos traerán muchas bendiciones a través del Espíritu Santo. El Convento
tiene siete habitaciones. Oremos para que en poco tiempo se ocupen las siete habitaciones.
Estamos planeando una acogedora bienvenida para ellas el 1 de julio, con comida y música,
una Misa bilingüe y una bendición al Convento. Te invito a que oremos por las hermanas, ya
que en este momento se encuentran en un retiro, preparándose para servir a la comunidad del
Sagrado Corazón. Se espera que ellas lleguen aproximadamente a las 6:00pm el viernes, 1 de
julio. La Misa bilingüe comenzara alrededor de las 7:30pm. Es mi esperanza que su llegada
sea una gran celebración, tanto para ellas, como para nosotros. Espero que tus hijos, en unas
décadas de a partir de ahora, puedan contarle a sus nietos la gran alegría y felicidad que
sintieron el día que las hermanas llegaron. Hagamos esta una agradable memoria para todos.

Unity: A Divine Adventure, Building relationships in
everyday life, a one-day summer retreat sponsored by the
Focolare Movement, will be held June 25 from 9 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. at St. Mary Cathedral in Austin. Experience the
spirituality of going to God together. Program includes
presentations, witness talks, Mass and games for the
whole family. Spanish translation is available; programs for
children and youth provided. Cost is $10 per person; $15

beginning at 1 p.m. for the annual Fiesta De Colores.
Bring the whole family out to celebrate with your
brothers and sisters in Christ. Food, games, a live
