Feast of Christ the King
How often do we put all our time and energy into
building a kingdom here on earth, forgetting that life
here is short? The real kingdom is in the next life. Yet,
how much time and energy do we invest in working for
that eternal kingdom?

Nov. 26 & 27 in celebration of
THANKSGIVING.
In the Gospel today, Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor
(procurator) of Palestine, stands face-to-face with the Lord of the
universe. Pilate is agitated by the circumstances, but thinking
clearly because it’s still early. Jesus is exhausted from the first
twelve hours of his passion, but his eyes glow with the love and
determination that had led him to this hour. He came to earth in
order to save Pilate’s soul; Providence has finally brought them
together. Jesus is eager to draw this Roman patrician close to his
heart. All the conditions are right for Pilate to detect in Jesus the
God for whom his heart longs. Yet, he doesn’t: he is in the same
room with Jesus, speaking with him, but he remains unmoved.
Why? Jesus himself gives us the explanation when he tells Pilate,
“Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.” With that
sentence, Jesus teaches us all the secret to intimacy with God.
Whoever lets himself be led by what is true will be drawn into
communion with Christ, will hear and heed God’s ceaseless
invitations to follow him more closely. But being led by truth
requires humility. It requires recognizing a higher authority than
oneself: if I am obliged to discover, accept, and conform to what is
objectively true (morally, physically, historically), then I am not
autonomous, I am not the master of my universe, I am not God.
Making that act of humility, which frees us from the enervating
bonds of selfishness, is hard. Our fallen human nature tends
towards pride, towards self-sufficiency, control, and dominance.
To resist that tendency, obey the truth, and expose oneself to the
burning love of God takes courage.
Courageous, humble acceptance of God’s truth, of the truth that
God is love – that’s the only way to follow our eternal King, and to
experience the fulfillment that comes from being a faithful citizen
of his everlasting Kingdom.

CARTA DE NUESTRO PÁRROCO
Queridos Parroquianos,
En el Evangelio de hoy, Poncio Pilato, el gobernador romano
(Procurador) de Palestina, se encuentra cara a cara con el Señor
del universo. Pilato es agitado por las circunstancias. Jesús está
exhausto en las primeras doce horas de su pasión, pero sus ojos
brillan con amor y determinación que le producían hasta esta
hora. Él vino a la tierra para salvar el alma de Pilato; La
Providencia finalmente los unió. Jesús está dispuesto a dibujar a
este Procurador romano cerca de su corazón. Todas las
condiciones de Pilato son detectar en Jesús el Dios que su corazón
anhela. Sin embargo, él está en la misma habitación con Jesús,
hablando con él, pero él permanece impasible.
¿Por qué? Jesús mismo nos da la explicación cuando le dice a
Pilato, "todo aquel que pertenece a la verdad escucha mi voz".
Con esa frase, Jesús nos enseña a todos el secreto de la intimidad
con Dios. Quien se deja llevar por lo que es cierto entrara en
comunión con Cristo, escuchará y prestara atención a las
invitaciones incesantes de Dios para seguirlo más de cerca.
Atraído por la verdad que requiere humildad. Requiere
reconocer una autoridad superior a uno mismo: si me veo
obligado a descubrir, aceptar y ajustarme a lo que es
objetivamente verdad (moralmente, físicamente, históricamente),
entonces yo no soy autónomo, yo no soy el amo de mi universo,
yo no soy Dios. Ese acto de humildad, que nos libera de las
ataduras molestas del egoísmo, es duro. Nuestra naturaleza
humana caída tiende a la soberbia, la autosuficiencia, control y
dominación. Para resistir esa tendencia, hay que obedecer la
verdad y exponerse uno mismo al amor ardiente de Dios toma
coraje.
Valiente y humilde aceptación de la verdad de Dios, única verdad
que Dios es amor – es la única manera de seguir a nuestro Rey
eterno y experimentar el cumplimiento que viene para ser un fiel
ciudadano de su reino eterno.

NOCHE DE ADORACIÓN
Los Jóvenes de Juventud y esperanza están celebrando 35 Años
a aquí en la Parroquia de San Jerónimo, y para celebrarlo
tendrán una Vigilia y Ora Santa, el Lunes 30 de Noviembre de 7
a 9 de la Noche, están todos ustedes invitados acompañarlos los
esperamos.
¡VIVA CRISTO REY! Rey de Nuestros Corazones
En 1925 el Papa Pío XI instituyó la fiesta de Cristo Rey en su encíclica Quas Primas
en respuesta al creciente nacionalismo y secularismo en el mundo. El Papa se dio
cuenta de que el secularismo pronto podría librar guerras terribles en contra de la
Iglesia. Durante los primeros años del siglo XX, en México, Rusia, y otras partes de
Europa, los regímenes ateos amenazaron no solo a la Iglesia Católica y a sus fieles,
sino a la civilización misma. La encíclica de Pío XI dio a los católicos esperanza y la
seguridad de que Cristo Rey reinaría para siempre cuando a su alrededor los
gobiernos de los hombres se derrumbaban. El Papa afirmó que Cristo “reina en las
inteligencias de los hombres, no tanto por el sublime y altísimo grado de su ciencia
cuanto porque Él es la Verdad y porque los hombres necesitan beber de Él y recibir
obedientemente la verdad”. Aunque esperamos y rezamos para que los tiempos
oscuros de hace casi un siglo permanezcan en el pasado, un preocupante informe
reciente del Pew Forum muestra que la intolerancia religiosa va en aumento en todo
el mundo, incluso en Estados Unidos. Por lo tanto, debemos permanecer vigilantes
cuando nuestra primera libertad estadounidense protegida por la Primera Enmienda
de la Constitución de los EE.UU. está en peligro. La libertad religiosa nos permite no
solo ir a Misa sino también la libertad de dar de comer a los hambrientos, servir a los
necesitados y cuidar a los enfermos. Durante este tiempo en que nos unimos como
una nación en acción de gracias por nuestras bendiciones, demos gracias a Dios por
el don de la libertad religiosa y pidamos que no lo demos por hecho.
CELEBRACIÓN ARQUIDIOCESANA DE NUESTRA
SEÑORA DE GUADALUPE- Comenzando el 13 de diciembre al
mediodía la procesión comienza en la Cancillería
Arquidiocesana, 1700 San Jacinto y continúa al Centro de
Convenciones George R. Brown 1001 Avenida de las
Américas, Houston. Todos están invitados a participar en
esta celebración Arquidiocesana vamos con alegria a la
fiesta de nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. El día comienza
con una colorida procesión antigua y tradicional mexicana
con bailes y canciones. Después de la procesión,
disfrutaremos de las danzas de los matachines, música de mariachis y varios
cantantes. La Santa Misa estará presidida por su el Cardenal Daniel

Parenting Help?
The office of Family Life Ministry have trained eight professionals
around the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston to provide services to
parents who are willing and need help raising their children. The
program is designed to offer advice, support and formation to parents
with common developmental and behavioral problems in children. To

Do you know a couple that is having a challenging situation in
their relationship and need help?
We may be able to coach you as a couple. We offer enrichment
sessions, consulting and mentoring for married couples
experiencing some crisis or challenges in their relationship. For

Annulment Information Night
The Family Life Office in partnership with the Tribunal Office will
present an annulment information night on Tuesday, December
15, 2015 at St. Dominic Center in Morkovsky Hall, 2403
Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX, 77021. Anne Bryant of the Tribunal
Office will help attendees understand how the annulment
process can be healing, explain the annulment process step by
step, help them make an informed choice about what to do next
and dispel any myths and misconceptions. Registration will begin
at 6:30 p.m. and the information session will run from 7:00 p.m.
to 9:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served and there is no cost to
attend. All are welcome.
ARCHDIOCESAN CELEBRATION FOR OUR LADY OF
GUADALUPE - December 13th at Noon. Procession starts at the
Archdiocesan Chancery Office, 1700 San Jacinto, and continues to the
George R. Brown Convention Center, 1001 Avenida de las Americas,
Houston. All are invited to join in the
joyful Archdiocesan celebration of the
feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The

The 2015 Wedding Anniversary Jubilee Mass honoring couples
celebrating their Silver (25th) Anniversary of marriage in the
Catholic Church will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at
the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart at 3 pm. Whether or not a
couple attends the ceremony, they are eligible to receive a special
recognition. Registration for this celebration is closed at this time.
However, you may attend the special Mass and register at the
entrance of the Co-Cathedral. Reserved seating will be limited.
Should you arrive when the reserved space is taken, please seat
anywhere else in the Church. Each couple will be able to bring a
maximum of 6 family members or friends to the Mass. If you
register on that day, acknowledgements of your anniversary will be
mail after verification of your sacramental marriage is confirmed.

LAUGH LINES – Little Johnny’s kindergarten class was on a
field trip to their local police station where they saw
pictures tacked to a bulletin board of the 10 most wanted
criminals. One of the youngsters pointed to a picture and
asked if it really was the photo pf a wanted person. “Yes,”
said the policeman. “The detectives want very badly to
capture him.” Little Johnny asked, “Why didn’t you keep
him when you took his picture?”

las celebraciones en honor de la Virgen de Guadalupe. Iniciamos el

relación de pareja. Ofrecemos sesiones de enriquecimiento
matrimonial, consultoría y mentoría. Para mayor información

Las Misa de Celebración de Aniversario en honor a las parejas
que celebran sus bodas de plata (25th) y que contrajeron
matrimonio por la Iglesia Católica en 1990; se llevará a cabo el
día domingo 29 de noviembre en la Co-Catedral del Sagrado
Corazón a las 3:00 de la tarde.
Todas las parejas inscritas con antelación y que asistan, o no, a
la ceremonia, recibirán un reconocimiento especial firmado por
su Eminencia Daniel Cardenal DiNardo.
La pareja que desee participar en esta ceremonia, y que no se
haya inscrito, podrá hacerlo en la mesa de registro que estará a
la entrada de la Co-Catedral. Sin embargo, los lugares reservados
dentro de la iglesia para las parejas que celebran su aniversario
son limitados y en los casos en que no hay inscripción previa, no
podremos garantizar espacio en esa área y deberán ubicarse en
cualquier otra área disponible.
De igual manera, los reconocimientos que recibirán por parte de
Su Eminencia el Cardenal DiNardo, no serán entregados a las
parejas que se inscriban en ese día. Estos se les enviaran por
correo postal una vez se verifique la información y la validez de
su unión sacramental.
Todas las parejas participantes, podrán asistir con, máximo, 6
familiares o amigos.

LADIES OF ST. JEROME: It's not to early to register and
reserve your spot for the Lenten Silent Retreat at the
Cenacle. This year the retreat will be the weekend of Feb. 26-28,
presented by Rev. Richard Buhler, SJ, entitled "Jesus Christ
Wants to be with Us!". Please contact Dora Freeman (713-2490534) or Judy Maniscalco (713-462-8284). Come and open your
heart and life this Lent to Jesus who wants to dwell with and
within you.
MADE SOME MISTAKES? GOD IS WILLING TO GIVE
YOU ANOTHER CHANCE - Scripture reminds us that, “we all
like sheep have gone astray.” The story of Jonah reveals one
man’s experience of rebellion, punishment, repentance and
obedience. Most of us can relate to a time in our lives when we
disobeyed God and there were consequences for our actions.
Follow Jonah’s inspiring story as he endures punishment, but
gets a second opportunity to do the will of God. Jonah’s
experience shows us that our God is stern, yet merciful, patient
and willing to give us another chance.

Tuesday, December 1 starting at 7:00 pm in the Church
ACTS BOUTIQUE - The ACTS Boutique will be selling gift items
after all masses on December 5th and 6th. So bring your
Christmas shopping list and shop ‘till you drop. We have an
expanded selection of items. All proceeds go to the ACTS
Scholarship Program.
All those who have attended ACTS is invited to
team on our next TEEN ACTS coming up in March.
We need Teens and Adult Chaporones to make this
retreat happen. If you are over 18 years old, please
make sure to complete your VIRTUS. All are
invited, English or Spanish. Our first meeting will
be Sunday, December 13th from 1:00 PM – 4:30 PM
in the Sharon Cole ACTS House. All ages
welcomed!
