A Word on the Gospel
In John’s Resurrection accounts our Risen
Lord, every time Jesus reveals himself to someone
He greets them with the short phrase ‘Peace be with
you!’ And as we saw above this phrase is repeated in
Jesus’ encounters with the disciples multiple times.
Jesus, in his compassion for those who witnessed his
crucifixion, works hard in his post Resurrection
encounters with people to help them recover from their
trauma. Jesus gently and peacefully urges them to move
beyond shock, to a deeper and more profound knowledge
of who He is; namely the Lord, fully and completely God.
And even more extraordinary then this, is Jesus in the
Resurrection accounts revealing that he is fully Lord and
God. That he as Lord and God is as God, not vengeful,
nor wrathful or angered by all these disciples that fled
when he needed help the most. But rather the
Resurrected Jesus who is fully God and yet fully human
does not act like any human being would in this fallen
world; he paradoxically acts just the opposite from what
everyone would expect. “Peace be with You! I give
peace not as the world gives peace (with lots of attached
strings), but freely. Not because you deserve this gift, but
because I truly Love you!”
The message of Jesus in these Resurrection
accounts is one of gentleness, of kindness, and of mercy.
A message of compassion. Not because human beings
deserve compassion or kindness, but because Jesus

Since it’s rebirth last fall, our ever expanding youth group has helped with all
our parish activities, such as the Halloween and Mardi Gras parties.
They have recently had several events of their own, and will be sponsoring many
more which will enrich and revitalize our parish life as only young people can
do. The group meets every Friday evening at 7:00 PM in the parish center.
If you are in interested in being part of this group, just bring yourself, your
questions, your ideas and your spirit to the next meeting.

stage, which was
used for the final four
stations, was handpainted by the group.
