And, who better to help us with those New Year resolutions. Today’s Feast of the Magi presents us the vision them seeking the Lord, traveling to Jerusalem to praise the Lord of Glory. They represent all the nations, all the peoples of the earth “seeking the Lord”. Saint Paul reminds us that through our Baptism we are all coheirs, members of the same body and copartners in Jesus. Sort of sounds like our parish mission statement! Through this New Year may we never tire of seeking Jesus. Might we not put the monthly parish “Holy Hour” on our resolutions list, for it is not only our seeking the Lord …..He comes in search of us, and to know Him is to know God; and to be loved by Him brings every fulfillment. What more could we ask for in this new year of 2015. Francis Thompson captured our Lord’s love for us in his poem “The Hound of Heaven”. Look for it, read the whole poem, and reflect upon those final verses: “Whom wilt thou find to love ignoble thee, save Me, save only Me? All which I took from thee I did but take, not for they harm, but just that thou might’st seek it in my arms.” 2015 = Seek the Lord ! 2015 = “Busque al Señor” ¿Qué mejor manera de vivir nuestras vidas en este año nuevo? FIND TIME Ask yourself: Do you ever find time for the work of God? Be a good steward and make the exciting discovery of time for yourself. No matter how busy you think you are, you can find time if you try! There is a wide choice of things which you can do for God and neighbor, in and through your church community--If you have the good will. With goodwill you also will find the necessary time for such projects, even though you may have to cut and pare in other directions. www.parishpublishing.org ENCONTRAR TIEMPO Pregúntate lo siguiente: ¿Alguna vez encuentras tiempo para participar en la obra de Dios? +Epiphany Blessing Of A Home+ All make the Sign of the Cross. Reader: In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be..... And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father's only Son, full of grace and truth. (John 1:1-3.14) Using chalk, write on the outside of your house, above or next to an entrance: (write the first half of the current year) +20 Christus Mansionem Benedicat 15+ (write the other half of the year) These words mean. "May Christ bless this house". All: Lord God of heaven and earth, you revealed your only begotten Son to every nation by the guidance of a star. Bless this house and all who inhabit it. May we be blessed with health, goodness of heart, gentleness and the keeping of your law. Fill us with the light of Christ, that our love for each other may go out to all. In the final chapters of Isaiah (chapters 56-66), the prophet is proclaiming God's word to the Israelites who have returned to Jerusalem after the Exile in Babylon. What at first was a joyful return, has turned inward. Those who have taken up positions of power after returning to Jerusalem have marginalized even the Israelites who remained in the land during the Babylonian Captivity, not to mention the people of other nations whose defeat of Babylon actually facilitated Israel's restoration. In response, Isaiah proclaims that God's salvation is for all. Every nation will stream to Jerusalem to worship the Lord. Isaiah's message is reflected in Matthew's Gospel as he tells the story of the birth of Jesus. Christ comes for everyone! The followers of Christ in Matthew's community are not only the Jews who became Christians, but also the Gentiles who came to believe that Jesus was the Messiah. In Matthew's Gospel this latter group is represented by the Magi, who come from afar, while the Jewish Christians, who believe in God's word, are represented by Joseph, the faithful spouse of Mary. While the Epiphany is a great and joyous feast, it contains a cautionary message as well. God's salvation is for everyone. That means that no one can be excluded from the invitation to follow Christ. And once they choose to do so, they become our brothers and sisters in the Lord. If that is the case, when we demean, cast aside, or ignore others, we open ourselves to the same condemnation with which Isaiah castigated the powerful in Jerusalem in the sixth century BC. If we add statues of the Magi to our Nativity scene, it also means that we must add the stranger, the foreigner, the person not like us, to our life in Christ. God put the wiggle in children, don’t feel you have to suppress in God’s house. All are welcome! *Sit toward the front where it is easier to see and hear. *Quietly explain the parts of the Mass. *Sing the hymns, pray and voice the responses. Children learn liturgical behavior by copying you. *If you have to leave Mass with your child, please feel free to do so, but please come back. As Jesus said: “Let the children come to me.” To the Members and Visitors of the Parish A smile of encouragement is always welcome to parents with small active children. The presence of children is a gift to the Church. They give us “A future full of hope.” Attention St. Therese Parishioners There are weekday and weekend masses available for your loved ones intentions for Year 2015. The intentions can be said for the “Repose of the Soul”, for birthday’s, for those who are sick, for well-being, blessing’s on our loved ones, for Christian Unity, in Thanksgiving, for Children poor in another country, ……………….etc. Please call the office for booking your mass. Intentions offering is $10.00 a mass. To have ears to hear the “cries of the poor,” After Jesus was baptized, he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and a voice was heard “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” As we give to the poor, we also can hear these same words. As you help those who are suffering, know in your heart the truth of the words “you are my beloved in whom I am well pleased”.
