SPLICES
For splices in wall cavities, either
overlap the material to complete the
cavity or cut the insulation square
and carefully butt the two pieces
together to minimize anybreak in the
insulation for that cavity. Tape the
seam if the wall can be seen.
1. Grasp one side of the insulation
with the kraft paper facing the
applicator (aluminum foil
toward the masonry) .
2. Begin stapling at the top of the
furring strip on one side only
until completed to the length of
the panel. Staple approximately
every 4” to 8”.
3. Cut off the insulation leaving
enough length to overlap the
bottom horizontal furring strip.
4. Start again at the top. Grasp the
staple tab on the opposite side
and pull slightly to expand the
material. Staple to the other
furring strip. Use this procedure
the entire length of the wall,
stapling approximately every
4” to 8”.
5. Staple the top and bottom
horizontal furring strips (if
present) approximately every
4” to 8”.
NOTE:
Where horizontal furring strips are
present (for example over and under
windows), the material can be installed
horizontally using the installation
guidelines above.
WALL OUTLETS
IRREGULAR CAVITIES
Cut the insulation so that it fits
snugly around the outlet. If the
wall can be seen, tape the edge
of the insulation to the box.
WINDOW
CAVITY
Material can be installed horizontally on
horizontal furring strips only.
ELECTRICAL
OUTLET
Cut insulation to fit snugly around
outlets and other cutouts. Tape if block
is visible.

NOTES:
• Tape any tears in the material.
• For the standard version of AA2 Vapor Shield™
to perform as a continuous vapor retarder, all
seams and outlets should be taped.
• For metal furring strips, wipe down the metal
then use double-sided tape or spray adhesive on
the metal before applying the insulation.
Proceed using the same basic procedure as
above. This will hold the insulation in place
until the wall board is applied.
• Refer to ASTM C-727, Standard Practice for
Installation and Use of Reflective Insulation in
Building Constructions, for other installation
considerations.
Proper Storage:
Store insulation material in a dry
covered facility away from temperature
extremes and weather elements.
Handling:
Protect material during handling and
installation to prevent damage.
Re-Installation:
Product is not covered by the product
warranty.

1. Complete items 1, 2 & 3 above.
2. Start again at the top. Grasp the
other side of the insulation and pull
over the top of the other furring
strip. Use this procedure the entire
length of the wall; pull and staple
approximately every 4” to 8”. Cut
off any excess material.

INSTALAR
EMPALMES
Para empalmes en las cavidades de
la pared, traslapar el material para
terminar la cavidad, o cortar el
cuadrado de aislamiento y
empalmar las dos piezas con
cuidado para disminuir cualquier
rotura del aislamiento en esa
cavidad. Si hay un empalme a
tope, envolver la junta cón cinta.
ORIFICIOS EN LA PARED
Cortar el aislamiento de manera
que se ajuste bien alrededor del
orificio. Si la pared se ve, pegar el
borde del aislamiento con cinta a la
caja.

Envolver con cinta cualquier rotura en
el material.
Para que la versión regular de VR Plus
Shield™ sea como un retardador
continuo de vapor, hay que poner cinta
adhesiva en todas las junturas y tomas.
Para metal, limpiar el metal, después
usar una cinta adhesiva en los dos
lados o echar adhesivo en el metal
antes de poner el aislamiento. Seguir
usando el mismo proceso básico de
arriba, menos asegurar con grapas.
Esto mantendrá el aislamiento en su
lugar hasta que se ponga la cubierta
de la pared.

1. Agarrar un lado del aislamiento con
el papel (kraft paper) hacia el que
lo pone (la lamina de aluminio
hacia la albañilería).
2. Comenzar a asegurarlo con grapas
desde lo alto del listón, solamente
un lado hasta completar a lo largo
del panel. Asegurarlo con grapas
aproximadamente a cada 4 a 8
pulgadas.
3. Cortar el aislamiento dejándolo
suficientemente largo para trasla
par la última parte abajo.
4. Empezar arriba de nuevo. Agarrar
la lengü eta de grapas en el lado
opuesto y estirarlo ligeramente
para extender el material.
Asegurarlo con grapas al otro
listón. Usar este proceso en toda
la extensión de la pared,
asegurándolo con grapas a cada
4 a 8 pulgadas. Asegurar el
aislamiento con grapas a la parte
inferior de la solera de arriba.
5. Asegurar con grapas los listones
de arriba y de abajo (si hay)
aproximada mente a cada 4 a 8
pulgadas.
NOTA: Donde hay otros listones
horizontales (por ejemplo, sobre y
debajo de las ventanas), el material se
puede instalar horizontalmente
siguiendo las instrucciones arriba.

proceso a lo largo de la pared,
asegurándolo con grapas
aproximadamente a cada 4 a 8
pulgadas. Cortar el material
sobrante.
Cavidades que son más anchas que el
ancho regular.
Si la cavidad es más ancha de 24", instale
otro listón. Si la cavidad es más ancha de
16" O.C., use material de 24" de ancho,
siguiendo los pasos arriba.
