What a great time we all had at the Global Marketplace at Crooked Creek today! It was exciting to see
the many clever and useful items that the students were so proud to sell. It is a wonderful lesson in
caring to have all classes do this work and then to see the profits go to the charity of their choosing.
As most of the K-3 parents have probably already heard, tonight we will have a movie night featuring
the incredibly popular movie “Frozen.” Many of our students have already seen the movie multiple
times and will gladly see it again. If your child has not seen it, this is their opportunity!
Spring photos will be taken at school on Monday, April 21st. This is the photo shoot where only students who preorder will need to have their picture taken. It is suggested that students who are being
photographed wear simple, colorful clothing.
The staff of Crooked Creek is happy to host the annual Volunteer Luncheon on Wednesday, April 23rd.
If you have worked in your child's classroom or in the building for any reason this year, please join us
between 11 and 1 for lunch! I have learned during my years here that our staff has many often hidden
talents, one of them being cooking, so come hungry!
The final PTO Meeting for this school year will be on Thursday, April 24th. This meeting will feature
speakers from middle school discussing transition, as well as ideas for next year at Crooked Creek.
Please plan to attend, as this is a good time to give your input as a family, as well as look at the PTO
budget for next year and the slate for PTO leaders.
Midterms will go home next Friday, which marks the middle of the last grading period. Time is flying
by as it always does this time of year; please use this date to encourage your students to finish
strong! The second round of ISTEP begins April 28th for students in grades 3-5. The format for this test will
be multiple choice on the computers. Students will be testing for 2 weeks, so make sure they continue
to read and work on their math facts and skills at home. Encourage them to read the assessment thoroughly and work through each of the math problems on their scrap paper. Students need to be at
school on time, so they are starting their days on a great note, and they are in the right mindset for
the assessments. This portion of ISTEP is weighted more than the earlier one, so we need ALL students to do their absolute best!
I want to make you aware of a great opportunity on May 1st. Dr. Lori Desautels, professor at Marian
University, will be speaking on brain based learning and parenting at Nora Elementary from 6:307:30. She has worked at CC with our teachers this year and done an amazing job with our
students. She is one of the top researchers in the country on brain based learning in schools. If you
are available, this would be an awesome evening where I guarantee you will learn a lot! As I become increasingly excited about the arrival of my second little girl in about a month, my mind is
also very much on Crooked Creek in my absence. I am happy and more relaxed knowing that Mrs. Mary
Beth Reffett will be taking over for me while I am out. Mary Beth is currently a consultant for
MSDWT, but more importantly, was Principal at Crooked Creek for two years prior to me. Some of our
students will remember her fondly, and I know she will be glad to return for a bit.
Enjoy your weekend!

Crooked Creek Families and Staff:
We have a WINNER! Ms. Hodge's class wins the class Icee treat
with an incredible 955 box tops. Congratulations!!!!
The rest of our top ten are:
2)Mr. Kuskye 658
3) Mrs. Snow 555
4) Miss Abbott 327
5) Ms. Badger 286
6) Ms. Gitsis 267
7) Mrs. Abell 263
8) Ms. Rahrig 249
9) Ms. Feezle 235
10) Mrs. Smith 197
In all, we raised more than $700.00 during the contest.
During this school year, over $1500.00 has been raised just by
cutting and collecting Box Tops. This money goes directly into
benefitting our students. For example, funds have been used for
field trip assistance, classroom computer programs, reading
materials and more. The more we save the more we earn!
Summer is a great time to save Box Tops and Campbell’s labels
for education. Please save them over the summer to help out our
2014-2015 school year PTO. When you discover your new
teacher's name, put your boxtops in a baggie with your teacher’s
name on it and turn it in. We will be counting Box Tops again in
October to see if Ms. Hodge’s class can retain top honors or if
another class can take the title! Every little bit helps, so look for
products with Box Tops and turn the Box Tops logo in to the
school. Thank you so much for your help!
LET’S SEE HOW MUCH MORE WE CAN EARN!
REMINDER!
Township policy dictates that students are to be IN
THE CLASSROOM by 8:25 daily. The carpool lane
opens at 8:05 so that there is at least a 15
minute window for on-time arrival at
school. Any student arriving at either
door after the 8:25 bell must stop at the
office to get a late pass. As always, the bus is the
easiest way to assure that your child arrives on time
each day.
AN INVITATION FROM DR. WOODSON
We are having our last WTAC of the year and highly
encourage you to come and have personal conversation with top district leaders of all divisions including
personal time with the Superintendent. District leaders
will be asking important questions that require your
feedback. The information gathered will be used to
inform their leadership decisions for the 14-15 school
year.
We encourage all stakeholders to attend and have a
voice on major district wide issues so that we can continue to improve our outstanding school system.

Caring for the
community
starts with
our schools.
Target is thrilled to be on
track to donate $1 billion
for education by the end
of 2015. Take Charge of
Education plays an important
role in our commitment.
Since the program began in
1997, we’ve worked together
with you to donate over
$387 million to your kids
and your classrooms.
FAQ
It works like this.
What schools qualify?
Take Charge of Education* is an exclusive
benefit of the Target REDcard® program. Your
school supporters apply for the REDcard, and
select the eligible K–12 school of their choice.
Every time they shop, the cardholder benefits
with 5% savings, and your school benefits with
up to 1% of their purchase. Then, the school
spends the money you receive on the things your
school needs: from books and band uniforms to
reading programs and field trips— anything that
can use a little extra funding.
The best part? It’s easy!
Every trip to Target becomes a fundraiser
when your supporters join. Teachers, parents,
grandparents, alumni, friends, neighbors—
anyone who supports your school is welcome.
The more people involved, the harder the
program works, so get started.
Simply visit Target.com/TCOE or call
1-800-316-6142 to designate your school,
then encourage your community to sign up.
Use the tools and resources online to help
you spread the word.

Para ayudar a la
comunidad, hay
que empezar
por las escuelas.
En Target nos alegra muchísimo
estar más cerca de nuestra
meta de donar mil millones de
dólares a la educación para
finales de 2015. El programa
Take Charge of Education
juega un papel importante en
nuestro compromiso. Desde
el comienzo del programa, en
1997, trabajamos junto contigo
para donar más de $387
millones a niños y aulas.
Preguntas frecuentes
Así es como funciona.
¿Qué escuelas pueden
participar?
¿Tiene un costo este
programa?
Take Charge of Education* es un beneficio exclusivo
objetivo beneficiar a escuelas
K–12 de Estados Unidos exentas
de impuestos según los artículos
501(c)(3) o 509(a)(1) del Código de
Impuestos Internos.
El titular de la cuenta no paga
nada.
ayudan a tu escuela. Maestros, padres, abuelos,
Take Charge of Education?
El programa Take Charge of
Education precisa el uso de una
de las Tarjetas REDcard, lo cual
abarca la Tarjeta de Crédito
Target®, la Tarjeta de Débito
Target y la Tarjeta de Crédito
Target Visa®. Solicítalas por
Internet o en nuestras tiendas.
¿A dónde envía Target los
cheques del programa Take
Charge of Education?
¿Cómo se designa una
escuela?
Las escuelas que ganan más
de $25 reciben cheques en
septiembre. Las donaciones se
acumulan hasta llegar a los $25 o
a un monto mayor.
Visita Target.com/TCOE e ingresa
el nombre de la escuela o el
número identificativo para ver y
designar a tu escuela actual.
