Digital
Teacher training
Several of our titles boast fully interactive and regularly updated learning platforms.
Here, teachers can assign tasks and monitor students’ progress, while students are
encouraged to learn independently through blogs, videos and games. The Richmond
Learning Platforms offer the best of formal and informal learning and have three main
sections. The easy-to-use portals offer author interviews, downloadable sample units
and fun learning activities for students. Students can participate by commenting on the
blogs, and will enjoy belonging to an online community of English learners.
Teachers can also register students to the Virtual Learning Environments (VLE).
Pre-populated with activities, the VLEs allow teachers to assign tasks to their students
and set timings and pass marks for exercises. Scores are recorded in a grade book,
allowing teachers to track their students’ progress.
The Test Studios allow teachers to create their own interactive tests online or on paper.
Teachers can create tests to revise by unit, a block of units or the whole book. It is easy
to decide what to include in the tests from grammar and vocabulary and the four skills.
It is also possible to choose whether to upload tests to a school VLE or LMS.
The Richmond Vodcasts are a highly original and enjoyable series of short films
providing a lively starting point for classroom communication. Students are introduced
to our entertaining presenters and follow them as they complete a set of amusing
challenges around the UK. Each film corresponds to a level of The Big Picture and New
Framework and can be used in conjunction with either coursebook.

APP
Our digital books are an invaluable learning aid
in the classroom and are compatible with any
interactive whiteboard. The software is easy to
use and contains the material not just from the
student’s book but from each course component,
all cleverly interlinked on screen. Ideal for
presenting resources to the entire class, there are
on-screen answers for group feedback sessions.
There are also many options for teachers to
customise pages and add their own links and
resources, ensuring that students remain
interested and engaged throughout the lesson.
Our constantly growing app collection includes
downloadable apps to complement many of our
Richmond Primary Readers. Complete with audio
and animation, the apps engage children and
bring the stories alive. Children will love looking
at the pictures, listening to the story and reading
along. Learners will have fun creating their own
printable drawings with the resizable stickers,
which they can e-mail to their friends. Ideal for
entertaining children outside of the classroom.
Resource Sites
We are delighted to offer an ever-growing collection of extra resources for both students and teachers.
Most of these are completely free and are intended to supplement the core material contained within
each course book.

and fun practice. In addition to activities such as
surveys, pair work and personalised writing, Beep
gives students the chance to enjoy the learning
experience through songs, chants, stories and

1 Kate has lived abroad in three different countries.

12–15 points You’re a very careful traveller and always try to
know everything before going away. But you might

However, the old model of ‘your boss is your mentor’ is no
longer the normal model, with people seeking help from
a wider range of contacts. You don’t have to be that old or
experienced to pass on knowledge or even very high up the
hierarchy.
Mentoring is becoming common in the business world,
but is it worth the time and effort? A study by Gartner, an
American research firm, found that:

people happier. Some of the happiest people, no matter what
their normal job is, are helping others through life’s difficulties.
