2016 Annual Catholic Appeal
The 2016 Annual Catholic Appeal teaches the importance to renew our faith through acts of charity and emphasizes the responsibility parishioners
have in supporting their parish, as well as the diocesan ministries, programs and services that are
carried out in our communities through the Annual Catholic Appeal. A Catholic Steward reaches
out in many ways. Through the Annual Catholic
Appeal we support many programs, ministries
and services and most importantly, people.
Annual Catholic Appeal 2016 Prayer
Let us pray that stewardship may become a way
of life for us as we share the many gifts we have
received from the Lord. Reflecting on our lives,
and all that we have been given, we pray for the
courage to truly live our faith by sharing our time,
talent, and treasure in answer to the Lord’s call
to relieve the suffering of those in need in our
Church, our communities, and our world.
~~~
Teach us, O Lord, to
Share the Joy of the Gospel,
understanding always, that generosity
is shown in acts of friendship, respect, and
encouragement, and in every act of human
kindness toward our brothers and sisters in need.
Guide us to be generous in our thoughts and
actions and give us the grace to realize that in
each measure we give, we also receive. Amen.
you come to the rectory to reserve Masses for
the year 2016 on Tuesday through Thursday
La Campaña Católica Anual del 2016
La Campaña Católica Anual de este año 2016 nos
enseña la importancia de renovar nuestra fe a
través de actos de caridad y enfatiza la responsabilidad que los feligreses tiene en apoyar
su parroquia, al igual que los ministerios, programas y servicios diocesanos que se desarrollan
en nuestra comunidades a través de la Campaña
Católica Anual. La Corresponsabilidad Católica
ayuda de diversas maneras. Ayudamos a través
del apoyo a los diferentes programas, ministerios,
servicios; y mas importante a las personas.
La Oración de la Campaña Católica Anual del 2016
Oremos para que la corresponsabilidad se convierta para nosotros en un estilo de vida, al compartir los muchos dones que hemos recibido del
Señor. Pensando en nuestras vidas y en todo lo
que hemos recibido, pedimos tener la valentía de
vivir verdaderamente nuestra fe compartiendo
nuestro tiempo, talento y tesoro en respuesta del
llamado del Señor, de aliviar el sufrimiento de
aquellos necesitados en nuestra Iglesia, nuestra
comunidad y en nuestro mundo.
~~~
Enséñanos, O Señor, a

Sharing the Gospel
One night your parents tell you to go to bed. You do not want to go to bed, so you cry and stomp.
You shout, "I won't go to bed." Then you feel badly because you pitched a fit. This is a good time
to pray. Ask God to help you. He will give you the power to say, "Mom and dad, I am sorry. I will
jump in bed right now." Jesus was powerful, and the devil knew it. Jesus could have used the power he had selfishly, to get whatever he wanted - food, land to rule, or even angels to come running. Instead, Jesus chose to save his power to do what God wanted.
Prayer
Dear God, help me not to be selfish. Help me to be more like Jesus.
Something to Draw
Draw Jesus praying to God in the desert.
Mission for the Week
Every morning pray for your family.
1st Sunday of Lent
1er Domingo de Cuaresma
"The devil said to him... 'All this will be yours, if you
worship me.'" Jesus faced temptation, like we all do.
His forty-day fast in the desert wasn't full of supernatural consolation and delight. He was subject to
"every temptation" and when the forty days were
over, "he was hungry." In other words, he was human. Jesus' divine nature didn't cancel out his human nature. He faced struggles just like we do--both
physical and spiritual--in his body and his soul. As
we see in today's Gospel, the strategy Jesus used to
fight these physical and spiritual battles was to immerse himself in God's word. To silence the devil
during this fast, Jesus quoted Scripture. He rooted
himself in these eternal truths, relying upon them in
his moments of trial. And these sacred words had a
dramatic effect. Every time Satan tried to seduce
him with a new promise, Jesus responded with a
Bible verse. And each time, Satan was silenced and
had to try a new angle. Finally, when all the devilish
angles had been tried, "the devil departed from him
for a time." Jesus won the victory using the weapon
of God's word. As we enter into the season of Lent,
we can be armed in the same way. We now embark
upon a battle against our own pride, sloth, and
greed as we commit to prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Ultimately, we are working to put God first, instead of bowing down to our selfishness and our
desire for comfort. The devil would like nothing
more than to see us "worship" him in these ways.
But, instead, let's be equipped to proclaim--and to
live--the words Jesus himself used: "You shall worship the Lord, your God, and him alone shall you
serve."
Jesús responde a
Please pray each day of this Holy Year
Pope Francis’ prayer for mercy.
Almighty God, you reveal your love for us in
your Son, Jesus Christ, who is the face of your
mercy. Pour out your mercy upon us that we
may bring to every person your goodness and
tenderness signs of your Kingdom, present
among us. May we become merciful like you,
Father, are merciful. Through our Lord Jesus
Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
nuestro Señor Jesucristo, tu Hijo, quien vive y
