SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on the first
Sunday at the 11:30 AM Mass. No Baptisms are
celebrated during Lent. Parent preparation is required.
The parent meeting for Baptism is generally on the first
Monday of the month at 7:00 PM. Please call the Parish
Office for more information

If you have a prayer intention that you would like the
parish to pray for, write it in the Book of Prayer in
Church.
BULLETIN ARTICLES
Due ten days prior to bulletin date. Attach Word file and
email to [email protected]. Please put a
contact name and phone number on each article indicating
the date(s) you would like the article to run. Every effort
will be made to see that your request is granted.
As a general rule, we encourage using “bulletin space”
instead of a separate insert whenever possible—–this
saves the cost of printing. The following guidelines
should be observed if an insert is necessary:A proposed
insert must be submitted for approval prior to bulletin
insertion weekend. Approved inserts must be delivered
by Thursday to the Parish Office.

Bible Verses to Know:
Here are a few essential Bible verses that all Catholics should
learn to help in explaining and defending their Faith.
The Divine Mercy devotion consists of celebrating the Feast of
Divine Mercy Sunday, venerating the Divine Mercy Image,
praying the Divine Mercy Novena and Chaplet, and honoring
the Hour of mercy (3:00 pm). These can be remembered by
the acronym FINCH. Here are the promises Jesus told
St. Faustina about each:

The Catholic Church compiled the Bible and has faithfully
preserved it for 2,000 years. We hear several Bible readings
every time we attend Mass. As Catholics, we seek to study the
entire Word of God, in context, and seek the correct

Pope and Bishops — the Magisterium or teaching authority, of
Jesus’ One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.

Prairie Path Cleanup
On Saturday, April 23, in honor of Earth Day, the youth group
will be cleaning up a section of our local Prairie Path. We’ll
meet at Pius at 9 am, clean up the path, go out to eat for
lunch, and be back at Pius by 12:30 pm.
Twin Night
On Monday, April 25, from 6:30-8 pm, join us for our last
youth group of the season. Pick someone in the youth group
or bring a friend and come wearing the same thing as them.
We’ll play dodgeball and have a waffle and ice cream bar!

Liturgical Enrichment Day

As a Liturgical Minister at St Pius X, your attendance is
encouraged at the upcoming Liturgical Enrichment Day on
Saturday, April 23, from 9 AM – 12 noon at Ascension
Parish in Oak Brook. The keynote speaker is
Fr. Bob Hutmacher from St. Peter’s in Chicago. There will
be breakout sessions for specific Liturgical Ministries
(including yours) following his address.
Light refreshments will be served, and there is no cost to you
for attending. Our parish entry fee covers all of our
parishioners who attend. You do not have to be a liturgical
minister to attend.

Camp R.O.C.K.
From Thursday, August 4 to Sunday, August 7, join the
St. Pius X middle school youth group and other students from
our diocese at Camp R.O.C.K. at Dickson Valley in Newark, IL
(only 1 hour away). Camp R.O.C.K. is an overnight Catholic
summer camp for students currently in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.
Activities include swimming, canoeing, prayer, archery, Bible
study, campfires, rock climbing, basketball and other sports,
worship, hiking, music, skits, crafts, and more! The cost is
$275 with an $80 deposit before April 15 and $300 after
that. There is a 20% discount for siblings. If a student wants to
attend, but the cost is too much, please let Mark know. Please

Youth Leadership Conference
From Friday, June 24 to Sunday, June 26, current 8th grade
and high school students, are invited to attend the Youth
Leadership Conference (YLC) at Lewis University in
Romeoville. YLC is an overnight Catholic conference,
sponsored by the Diocese of Joliet, to empower over 700
students through faith-based experiences and leadership
training. The cost of the conference $200 or $150 if you sign
up before May 1 with a $50 non-refundable deposit. There is
also a 20% discount for siblings. If a student wants to attend,

Council of Catholic Women
Ladies of St. Pius X Parish
Please come and join with your St. Pius X Council of Catholic
Women Sisters on Wednesday, April 20 at 7:00 pm in the
Martha Room. This will be our final meeting before summer.
We will wrap up our activities, discuss financial donations and
plan for the 2016/2017 year. Information about the Deanery
Spring Gathering and our Special CCW Dinner will also be

Summer Camp 2016
The mission of the St. Pius X Parish School Summer Camp 2016 is to
offer a quality, safe, inclusive, and affordable summer experience for our
students and parish families. Our goal is to provide lasting memories,
imaginative play, and allow our campers to develop to their full potential.
The St. Pius X Parish School Summer Camp is now in its sixth year!
The Summer Camp 2016 will be offered to students currently registered
for the 2016 – 2017 school year that will be attending our three year old
preschool through fifth grade. We will also accept students who were in three-year old preschool through fourth grade during the
2015 – 2016 school year. Children of registered parishioners are also welcome to attend provided they are the correct age
requirements (children entering three-year old preschool through fifth grade for the 2016-2017 school year).
We offer full-time camp (from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.), regular camp (from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and part-time camp. Summer
Camp will begin on Monday, June 6, 2016 and continue throughout the summer until Friday, August 12, 2016. Space is limited and
will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Students must be completely toilet trained to enter the camp program. Campers will be
grouped according to age.
Camp days chosen are on a permanent basis, and for staffing and purchasing reasons cannot be changed from week to week or
month to month. However, camp days can be added based on space availability and camp attendance can be different
each week.

2.- “Oler a oveja” El pastor y las ovejas es una imagen clásica en
la literatura bíblica. Muchos profetas se sirvieron de ella cuando

ovejas representan a los seguidores de Jesús, el Buen Pastor, que
da su vida por ellas. El Papa Francisco nos ha dicho que los
“pastores tienen que oler a oveja”, es decir tienen que estar en
medio del pueblo, compartir sus sufrimientos y sus gozos. El
auténtico pastor “conoce a sus ovejas” y les da vida.
3.- “Buenas ovejas” “Mis ovejas escuchan mi voz y me siguen”,
dice Jesús. Lo primero que tenemos que hacer es escuchar la
Palabra de Dios, para después hacer la vida en nosotros y seguir a

Annual Catholic Home Missions Appeal
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
The Church has great needs around the world, and
unfortunately our nation is no exception. Many dioceses here at
home face challenges due to priest shortages, remote
geography, or due to the fact that their parishes are in
impoverished communities. The Catholic Home Missions
Appeal answers these needs by providing grants to these
dioceses.
Forty-two percent of all dioceses in the United States
receive Catholic Home Missions support for evangelization,
catechesis, ministry formation, and other areas of faith
development. Your support of this collection will help your
neighbors here in the United States and strengthen the Church
at home.
As we celebrate this
Jubilee Year of Mercy,
come experience the
mercy of God during an
hour of prayer at
Immaculate
Conception Church,
Pilgrimage Church of
Eastern DuPage
County, held on the
third Tuesday of every month of our jubilee year. In the
month of April, we will be praying in honor of Divine
Mercy.
Obtaining a Plenary Indulgence during the Year of Mercy
A plenary indulgence frees a person from all of the temporal
punishment due to sins and may be gained only once on any
one day. Indulgences are only applicable to oneself and to
the dead.
How can I obtain a plenary indulgence during the Holy
Year of Mercy?
By receiving Holy Communion, making a profession of faith
(saying the Creed), praying for the Holy Father, Pope Francis,
and for the intentions that he bears in his heart for the good of
the Church and of the entire world, while doing any of the
following:
In 2015, the bishops’ Subcommittee on Catholic Home
Missions provided grant money as nearby as the Diocese of
Belleville in Illinois and the Diocese of Kalamazoo in
Michigan, supporting their outreach to migrant communities
and to provide ministry to those who live and work in remote
and rural areas. The Diocese of Jackson in Mississippi has
some of the highest numbers of families living in poverty, so
grants from the Catholic Home Missions Appeal make it
possible for the Diocese of Jackson to pay for the education of
their 10 seminarians, among other things.
 Visiting a Pilgrimage Church while having the intention
to obtain the indulgence
 Going to confession (before or after the visit)
 Personally performing one or more of the Spiritual and
Corporal Works of Mercy.
 Praying for the dead at Mass that they be freed from sin
and be embraced by God in eternal life.
 The sick and people who are elderly and alone may
obtain the Indulgence by receiving Communion or
attending Mass and community prayer (even on TV, the
Internet or radio)
Mission dioceses often struggle with isolation and a lack
of educated pastoral and lay leadership. With your support, the
Catholic Home Missions Appeal can continue to provide
catechesis, lay leadership training, funding for seminarian
education, and other essential pastoral outreach in our home
mission dioceses.
On the weekend of April 23-24, please be generous in
the Catholic Home Missions Appeal and help strengthen
the Church at home. Your support will truly make a
difference.

The SERRA CLUB OF DUPAGE, a national organization
supporting vocations to the priesthood and religious life, invites
you to join them on Monday, April 18, at St Petronille Parish,
420 Glenwood Avenue, Glen Ellyn. The evening will begin at
6:00 pm with Rosary and Mass in the Church. Dinner will
follow in the Parish Center. At the dinner, Ed Flavin, Director
of Communications for the Diocese of Joliet will be the guest
speaker.
In his position as Director of Communications for the
Diocese, Ed Flavin assists with both internal and external
communications, including social media, website development
and overseeing Christ is Our Hope monthly magazine, and acts
as a Diocesan spokesman. Ed and his wife, Katie, and their five
children are parishioners of Ss. Peter and Paul Parish in
Naperville. Ed, who earned a Master of Science degree from
Northwestern University and an MBA from the University of
Notre Dame, has also been the sideline producer for all Home
and Away games with Notre Dame National Radio.
