Good prospects for EMO MILAN 2015
EMO
From October 5th to 10th Milan will host
the world’s biggest industrial show, EMO
2015, which expects 150,000 visitors from
nearly a hundred countries. This biennial
event held in either Milan or Hanover is
promoted by the European Machine Tool
Industry Association (CECIMO). It currently
counts 115,000 square metres of exhibition
space, reserved for 1,400 companies
and spread among twelve fully booked
pavilions which will showcase machine
tools, robots, automation solutions, additive
manufacturing, mechatronic solutions and
auxiliary technologies.
Del 5 al 10 de octubre Milán acogerá la
celebración de EMO 2015, el mayor evento
industrial del mundo, que espera recibir la
visita de 150.000 personas procedentes de
alrededor de 100 países. La bienal, itinerante
entre Milán y Hannover e impulsada por
CECIMO (Asociación Europea de Industrias
de Máquina-herramienta) cuenta ya con
115.000 metros cuadrados de superficie
expositiva neta reservados por 1.400
empresas y distribuidos en 12 pabellones
que están completos y que contendrán
máquinas-herramienta, robots, soluciones
de automatización, fabricación aditiva,
soluciones mecatrónicas y tecnologías
auxiliares.
The fair will devote a special exhibition
section to additive manufacturing; besides
machines it will also present products meant
for the mechanics market. Conferences,
workshops and seminars will also be held to
highlight competitive advantages stemming
from the adoption of additive technologies by
some industries and processes. Specifically,
the International Conference on Additive
Manufacturing will take place on October 6th,
jointly organised by CECIMO and the Italian
Additive Technologies Association (AITA), in
which the AFM-supported Additive and 3D
Manufacturing Technologies Association of
Spain (ADDIMAT) will also participate.
La feria dedicará una sección expositiva
especial a la fabricación aditiva, en la
que además de máquinas se presentarán
productos destinados al mundo de
la mecánica. También se celebrarán
encuentros , talleres y seminarios
específicos para destacar las ventajas
competitivas procedentes de la adopción
de las tecnologías aditivas para algunas
industrias y procesos. Concretamente el
6 de octubre tendrá lugar la Conferencia
Internacional sobre Fabricación aditiva,
organizada conjuntamente por CECIMO y

AITA (la asociación italiana de tecnologías
aditivas), en la que participará ADDIMAT,
la asociación española de tecnologías de
fabricación aditiva y 3D, operada por AFM.
The country with the most registered
exhibitors is Italy, followed by Germany,
Taiwan, China and Switzerland. Spain ranks
seventh on the list, with 54 companies
exhibiting in an area of 4,717 square metres.
Since the first EMO was held in 1975, the
AFM has organised group attendance by
Spanish manufacturers, who make a major
investment to showcase their most advanced
solutions at what is considered the world’s
top technological fair.

es Italia, le siguen Alemania, Taiwan, China
y Suiza. Con 54 empresas exponiendo en
4.717 m2, España ocupará el séptimo lugar
de este ranking. Desde 1975, año de la
primera edición de la EMO, AFM organiza
la presencia agrupada de los fabricantes
españoles que realizan una importante
inversión para acudir con sus soluciones más
avanzadas al que está considerado el mayor
escaparate tecnológico del mundo.

same time as EMO will help boost the number
of visitors to Milan, which has improved its
communications for the occasion.

Positive forecasts regarding global machine
tool consumption augur well for EMO’s
success: Oxford Economics has estimated
that global consumption should reach 60
billion euros in 2015, 63 billion euros (+5.2
percent) in 2016 and 66 billion euros (+4.8
percent) in 2017.•
Las buenas previsiones respecto al consumo
mundial de máquinas-herramienta son una
bueña señal para el éxito de la EMO:según
estimaciones de Oxford Economics el
consumo mundial debería alcanzar los

Ambas máquinas cuentan con el novedoso
sistema DAS (Dynamics Active Stabilizer),
surgido del trabajo conjunto entre SORALUCE
y su centro de investigación IK4-IDEKO, y
testado en BIMATEC SORALUCE, centro
tecnológico de la marca en Alemania. Esta
labor conjunta de I+D+i, en la que se tienen
especialmente en cuenta las sugerencias de
los usuarios, se materializa en un dispositivo
capaz de aumentar activamente la rigidez
dinámica de la máquina, incrementando
la capacidad de corte hasta en un 300%,
lo cual reduce el riesgo de inestabilidad
(chatter) durante el mecanizado. El sistema
DAS incrementa la capacidad de corte
general, mejora la calidad de la superficie, y
reduce el riesgo de rotura de herramientas
aumentando su vida útil, en condiciones de
corte límite.
Both machines have the new DAS system
(Dynamics Active Stabilizer). System emerged
thanks to the joint effort between SORALUCE
and its research center iK4-Ideko and tested
in Bimatec-Soraluce, technological center
of the brand in Germany. This joint effort of
I + D+ i , in which it is especially taken into
account the suggestion of users, is depicted
on a device able to increase not only the
mechanical stability of the machine but also,
machining performance by up to 300 per
cent. This reduces the classic regenerative
effect of the chatter when turning. The DAS
system improves surface quality, milling
capacity, it also reduces the risk of breaking
tools and it increases tool working life under
extreme conditions of milling.

llevado a cabo por SORALUCE con el fin de
dotarlas de mayor ergonomía, seguridad y

para ello ha desarrollado un nuevo concepto
de diseño integral que se puede palpar a

notables mejoras de cara a mejorar la
visibilidad y la accesibilidad a las zonas de
trabajo.

machining processes and the optimum
cutting conditions of various materials.
This know-how in application engineering
has been transferred to a configuration of
machine that is rigid and at the same time
dynamic and in which each axis is capable of
offering drive systems with a high, dynamic
removal capability (up to a speed of 40 m/
min with an acceleration of up to 3.5 m/
sec2). The balance between dynamics and
strength has been translated into significant
improvements in productivity because it
allows work to be carried out by adapting to
the cutting conditions of each process and
material.

Additive manufacturing and 3D printing are
a reality that is revolutionising processes in

2 or 3 of the world leaders had addressed
the machining of parts obtained by additive
processes, in the same machine, until now.
IBARMIA ha decidido sumarse a ese exclusivo
grupo, incorporando la adición por láser
cladding a sus máquinas multiproceso de 5
ejes, dando luz a la familia ADD+PROCESS. En
estas máquinas, una vez obtenida la geometría
bruta por adición, las piezas son mecanizadas
en la misma máquina e incluso en la misma
atada. De este modo la máquina se convierte
en un centro autónomo de producción, en el
que desde nada obtenemos la pieza terminada.
IBARMIA has decided to form part of that
exclusive group, incorporating addition by
laser cladding to its 5-axis multi-process
machines, creating the ADD+PROCESS family.
In this machine, and after obtaining the gross
geometry by addition, the parts are machined
in the same machine and even in the same
bundle. Thus, the machine becomes an
independent production centre, in which we
obtain the finished part from nothing.
El proceso tiene una gran aplicabilidad en la
fabricación de prototipos y piezas únicas, así
como en la recuperación/reparación de piezas
de muy alto valor. Los amplios recorridos de
los centros de columna móvil IBARMIA, invitan
a llevar la fabricación aditiva a piezas de
considerable dimensión y por tanto de mayor
coste. Para el proceso de adición se utiliza una
fuente láser de 3 kW, que permite alcanzar
importantes tasas de deposición obteniéndose
geometrías muy próximas al objetivo final. •
The process can be applied to manufacture
prototypes and single parts, as well as to
recover/repair very high-value parts. The
extensive strokes of the IBARMIA mobile
column centres are an invitation to use
additive manufacturing in large-sized and
therefore more costly parts. A 3kW laser
source is used for the addition process, which
permits attaining high deposition rates, and
obtaining geometries that are close to the
final objective. •

un resorte neumático. El cabezal y el motor
eléctrico se encuentran en el extremo del brazo
basculante que permite el movimiento con el
ángulo correcto de roscado dentro del área
de trabajo. La velocidad de rotación del motor
se regula por medio de un mando control que
se encuentra en el brazo radial de forma que
puede adaptarse la velocidad para cada tamaño
de rosca. Los porta machos con embrague
van directamente al motor. Como opción, la
máquina puede llevar incorporado cabezal
orientable para roscado en sentido horizontal y
también lubricación automática del macho.
The machine is comprised of a radial arm
that is joined to an oscillating arm that uses
a pneumatic spring. The head and electric
motor are located at the end of the oscillating
arm, permitting movement with the correct
threading angle within the work area. The
motor rotation speed is adjusted with a
control located on the radial arm, so the speed
can be adapted to each thread size. The tapholders with clutch go directly to the motor.
Optionally, the machine can incorporate an
adjustable head for threading in horizontal
direction, as well as automatic lubrication of
the tap.

The machine is comprised of a radial arm
joined to a balanced oscillating arm by means
of a selective load damper. It can be secured
to any work bench or table, either with bolts
or a fast-fastening flange. Equipped with a
single-phase electric motor (220V or 110V),
the rotation speed and torque are regulated
by a series of 7 different fast set-up and easyto-couple regulator modules to machine .
The speed can thus be adapted to the size
of the thread. Optionally, the machine can
be equipped with an adjustable head –VHto thread in horizontal direction. It also has
automatic tap lubrication and threading
depth control.

fuerza van regulados por medio de 6 módulos
reductores de cambio rápido al motor. La
misma va equipada con lubricación automática
del macho y control de profundidad regulados
fácilmente por unos mandos dispuestos en el
brazo. También puede usarse la misma máquina
con un cabezal orientable –VH- para roscado
en sentido horizontal. La base de la máquina
lleva un pequeño cilindro compensado que nos
permite levantar la altura de trabajo en 160
mm.
Large-scale machine but easy and flexible
to handle. It is the most powerful machine
of the ROSCAMAT range. With an optimal
work area and equipped with a single-phase
