Saint John the Evangelist
“ Where there is charity and wisdom,
there is neither fear nor ignorance.
Where there is patience and humility,
there is neither anger nor vexation! ”
... The words of Saint Francis of Assisi, whose feast
day is this Thursday (4)! Francis was noted for his
charismatic personality, deep compassion for all,
and his love for God’s creation. He renounced
wealth to follow ‘Lady Poverty’! As a deacon he
founded the Order of Friars Minor (OFM), the
Franciscans, today numbering about 15,000 religious. He founded the Poor Clares, and the Third
Order for laypeople. He received the stigmata (the
wounds of Christ on his body) on September 14,
1224. He died on October 3, 1226 and was canonized in 1228. He is patron of ecologists and of Italy! “Make me an instrument ...”
... This Monday (1) we remember Saint Therese of
the Child Jesus, the ‘Little Flower’, patroness of the
Missions, though she never left her Carmelite convent! She died from tuberculosis, at the age of 24,

... On Tuesday (2), we recognize our ‘Guardian
Angels’! “O Angel of God, my guardian dear, to
whom God’s love commits me here, ever ...”
... Father Joseph and Father Brian joined Bishop
Brom, Bishop Flores, Bishop Chavez and over 170
priests of our Diocese as they gathered for their annual Convocation this past week, led in their reflection by Father Pat Mullen, Scripture Professor at
Camarillo Seminary. Mighty!

Vigésimo Sexto Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
La ley del Señor es perfecta
del todo y reconforta el
alma; inmutables son las
palabras del Señor y hacen
sabio al sencillo.
Salmo 19(18):8
PROCLAMEN LA MARAVILLA DE DIOS
El don del Espíritu se
da libremente, y no de
a c u er d o
co n
expectativas humanas,

Allí, a
pesar de los ataques
indígenas en contra de los
misioneros, pudo celebrar la
fiesta de san Francisco (4 de
octubre).
siempre contigo.
