Dear Bowie Parents,
Welcome to Bowie Elementary! I hope the following information will be helpful as
we start the 2014-2015 school year.
1. School begins at 7:45.
2. Students will be counted tardy at 7:50. Tardy students must stop at the
Office to receive a tardy slip prior to going to class. (Please ensure your
child is at school on time!)
3. Breakfast is served daily in the classroom at NO CHARGE to all students.
(7:40-7:50)
4. Dismissal time is 3:00 and all children should be picked up promptly.
5. Ennis ISD dress code applies to all students in grades 1 through 3. Gray
pants/skirts/bottoms have been added to the approved dress code. If girls
wear leggings, then a skirt or shorts must also be worn over the leggings.
6. Friday is “Jeans and Spirit Shirt Day” every week. Jeans must be plain; no
design-stitching. No holes in the jeans.
7. The cost of a school lunch is $2.05. For those who qualify, the reduced
lunch cost is 40 cents. (Additional milk and snacks may be purchased
separately.)
8. Please call if your child is going to be absent. Also, you MUST send a note or
“doctor’s excuse” slip when your child returns after an absence.
9. If your child’s transportation will differ from the usual, please inform the
teacher or office before 11:00 a.m. We must be notified from a parent (not
a child) in writing or by phone in order to make a change.
10. Please provide us with address and phone number updates as they occur. It
is very important we have correct information to contact you, as needed.
11. Please always display your car tag if you are picking your child up in the car
loop or if you are walking up the sidewalk. If you do not have a tag, you will
be asked to go in the office and sign your child out. This may seem
inconvenient, but the safety of your child is our greatest concern.
12. All visitors and volunteers are required to stop in the office and show a
driver’s license or other valid identification upon entering the school. A
visitor sticker will be issued which we ask that you wear while in the building.
Please contact us during school days from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. if you have
questions. We are glad you and your child are at Bowie. We believe in our students!
