Week by Week through The Year of Mercy
How to appropriate today’s Gospel for this Jubilee year of Mercy, both because of the “ breakfast” Jesus provides (“ a charcoal
fire with fish on it and bread”) and the number of fish in Peter’s
net (“one hundred fifty-three”) (John21:11-12). Of the fish, Saint
Augustine suggests that the roasted fish is the suffering
Christ. Saint Gregory the Great adds that Christ lowered
himself to swim in the “water: of our humanity; to be
caught in the “net” of out death; to be “roasted” in his
Passion on the fire of suffering. Saint Jerome claims
“one hundred fifty-three” represents the full number
of known species of fish, signifying that the Church’s
“net” has room for all our widely diverse humanity,
securing our unity-in-diversity in the hands of Peter
and his successors. Having received God’s mercy as
“the beating heart of the Gospel,” may the Church—
we—”pattern [Our] behavior after the Son of God who
went out to everyone without exception”.
(Misericordiae Vultus, 12).

Cómo apropiarse del Evangelio de hoy para este A ño Jubilar de la
Mesericordia, tanto por el "desayuno" que Jesús provee ( " unas brasas
con un pescado encima, y pan") y el número de peces en la red de
Pedro ( "ciento cincuenta y-tres" ) (Juan 21: 11-12). De los peces, San
Agustín sugiere que el pescado asado es el sufrimiento de Cristo.
San Gregorio añade que Cristo mismo se mando a nadar en el
"agua: de nuestra humanidad; estar atrapado en la "red" de
la muerte a cabo; para ser "asado" en su pasión en el fuego del sufrimiento. San Jerónimo afirma que "ciento
cincuenta y-tres" representa el número total de especies
conocidas de peces, lo que significa que de la Iglesia
"red" tiene espacio para todos nuestros muy diversos (la
humanidad), la seguridad de nuestra unidad en la diversidad en las manos de Pedro y su sucesores. Después
de haber recibido la misericordia de Dios como "el
corazón palpitante del Evangelio," Que la Iglesia-que nos
"patróna de [nuestro] comportamiento después de que el
Hijo de Dios que fue a todos sin excepción".

Third Sunday of Easter
Christ is risen! Let us continue to
proclaim with joy that the Lord is
risen, indeed. He appeared to his
disciples giving them the gift of
peace that assures them of his love
and mercy, As he would likely tell
them that “Yes, I know and understand”, as he finds them in the
midst of fear, doubt and lack of understanding. Several times they could not recognize
him. But the Lord continues to reveal himself to
them— through the breaking of the bread, through the
fish and bread, which certainly alludes to the Eucharist.
The Lord is always with us, especially as we come together for the celebration of the Eucharist. He shows
and presents himself, flesh and blood, through his
body and blood giving himself totally and completely
to us. And it is because oh his great love for us that he
offered his life for us. He is inviting us to love him,
just as he askes Peter in the Gospel this Sunday, “Do
you love me?”
Perhaps, I can say without any doubt that we love the
Lord. And more than ever, he enjoins us to show our
love for him by loving and serving one another. This
will clearly manifest that Christ is, indeed, risen and
alive in our midst.

Did you know?
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to recognize that we all play an important role in protecting our children and young people. Each year, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles publishes the Working Together to Prevent Child Sexual
Abuse brochure, which provides a listing of policies, programs,
resources and other information on how the Catholic Church is
working to help prevent child sexual abuse. Copies of the 2016
brochure are available in the parish vestibule or by contacting [email protected]
Knights of Columbus
Once again, the Knights of Columbus will be hosting our
annual Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday April 23rd after the 5:00
p.m. mass in the parish hall. We will be serving spaghetti topped off with your choice of spaghetti sauces from three of
Lompoc’s favorite restaurants: Mi Amore Pizza and Pasta,
Sage Restaurant at the Village Country Club and Nikka Fish Enterprise.
Adding to the delicious spaghetti, there will be tossed salad, garlic bread
and for dessert, Spumoni ice cream! The price of the tickets is $7.00 for
adults and $4.00 for youngsters ages 4 to 12 –
toddlers eat free. Tickets will be sold after all masses on the weekends of
April 2-3, April 9-10 and April 16-17. The monies
received from this fundraiser will be used to fund
our various charities. Here’s a chance to have a
great meal and support our charitable works too!
Magnificat
Magnificat, a ministry to Catholic Women, will host its quarterly
Prayer Breakfast Featured speaker will be Maria Echeverria who has
suffered numerous and painful ordeals in her life. Instead of blaming
God and accepting the role of victim, Maria will share how she has
chosen to survive by clinging to her faith and living the Light of
Christ.
Date: Saturday April, 30.

Virtus Training
VIRTUS is a pr ogram cr eated by the National Catholic
Risk Retention Group in the United States with a “Protecting
God’s Children” component that combats sexual abuse of
children in the Church. Mandatory Virtus training are required
for all parents whose children are enrolled in the Communion and Confirmation Sacrament classes. Ver ification
of Certificate is required. Training dates are as follows:
Thursday, April 14th at 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. (Spanish)
Bible Study
Bible study takes place on Wednesday’s at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. This week they will start on the book of Revelation.

Tercer Domingo de Pascua
¡Cristo ha resucitado! Vamos a seguir
proclamando con alegría que el Señor
ha resucitado, en verdad. Se presentó a
los suyos les da el don de la paz que les
asegura de su amor y misericordia, Como lo más probable es que decía que
"Sí, lo sé y lo entiendo", como se los
encuentra en medio del miedo, la duda
y la falta de comprensión. Varias veces
que no podían reconocer. Pero el Señor
continúa revelándose a ellos- a través de la fracción del pan,
a través de los peces y el pan, lo que sin duda alude a la Eucaristía.
El Señor está siempre con nosotros, especialmente a medida
que se reúnen para la celebración de la Eucaristía. Se muestra y se presenta a sí mismo, de carne y hueso, a través de su
cuerpo y sangre dándose a sí mismo total y completamente
a nosotros. Y es que oh su gran amor por nosotros que él
ofreció su vida por nosotros. Él nos invita a amarle, tal como él askes Pedro en el Evangelio de este domingo, "¿Me
amas?"
Tal vez, lo que puedo decir sin ninguna duda que amamos al
Señor. Y más que nunca, se impone a nosotros para mostrar
nuestro amor por él, amando y sirviendo el uno al otro. Esto
se manifiesta claramente que Cristo es, de hecho, resucitado
y vivo en medio de nosotros.
Entrenamiento Virtus
VIRTUS es un programa creado por el Grupo de Retención de
Riesgos Católica Nacional de los Estados Unidos con un componente "Protegiendo a los Niños de Dios" que combate el
abuso sexual de los niños en la Iglesia. Se requiere entrenamiento Virtus obligatoria para todos los padres cuyos hijos
están inscritos en las clases de comunión y confirmación Sacramento. Se requiere la verificación del certificado. fechas de

En el Evangelio de hoy Jesús se aparece a los apóstoles después de su resurrección y hasta les prepara una comida. Al
escuchar estas sagradas Escrituras acerca de la vida de la
Iglesia primitiva, reflexionemos sobre las muchas maneras en
que Cristo viene a nosotros y alimenta nuestras vida. ¿Como
nos sustenta la presencia de Cristo y nos da la fortaleza para
proclamar la Buena Nueva a los que nos rodean?

Caballeros de Colon
Una vez más, los Caballeros de Colón serán los anfitriónes de la
Cena de Espagueti anual el sábado 23 de de abril de después de la
misa 5:00 en el salón parroquial. Vamos a servir espagueti. Agregando a el delicioso espagueti, tambien habra ensalada, pan de ajo y
de postre, un helado Spumoni! El precio de los boletos es de $7 para
adultos y $4para los jóvenes de edades entre 4 y 12 -los niños comen gratis. Los
boletos serán vendidos después de las misas los fines de semana del 2-3 abril,
abril 9-10 y 16-17 de abril de. El dinero recibido de esta recaudación de fondos
serán utilizados para financiar nuestras diversas organizaciones benéficas. Aquí
hay una oportunidad de tener una gran comida y apoyar a nuestras obras de caridad también.

Abril es el Mes Nacional para la Prevención del Abuso Infantil, un
tiempo para reconocer que todos jugamos un papel importante en la
protección de nuestra niñez y de nuestros jóvenes. Cada año, la Arquidiócesis de Los Ángeles publica el folleto “Trabajando juntos
para la Prevención del Abuso Sexual Infantil”, que ofrece una lista de
políticas, programas, recursos y otra información de cómo la Iglesia
Católica está trabajando para ayudar a prevenir el abuso sexual infantil. Copias del folleto del 2016 están disponibles en el vestíbulo de
