The route begins with a visit to the elegant main street that crosses the city from north
to south with the Ranas Fountain as a starting point. It then takes us along the Paseo
de la Libertad, Altozano Square and the so-called “wide” street which allows us to see
the wonderful modernist buildings of Contemporary Albacete: Diputación Provincial,
Museo Municipal, Gran Hotel, Colegio Notarial, Casas de Cabot, de Legorburo, Pasaje
de Lodares, Cámara de Comercio, Instituto Bachiller Sahuco.

After walking across the Plaza Mayor we can visit the House of Perona, the Asuncion
Cultural Centre and the Cathedral. We can go up the Calle de la Feria to see the Fair Mill,
(a fountain representing two mills joined by a large water wheel), and the Plaza de Toros
(called “flat”, it was built in 1917 in Neomudejar style). Then we can enjoy Los Jardinillos
Park, the fairground (widely known as “la sartén” – the frying pan) and we can finish our
tour in the Fiesta del Arbol Park which is the starting point of many roads.

La ruta nos invita a transitar por el elegante eje principal norte-sur de la ciudad
tomando como punto de partida la Fuente de las Ranas, continuamos por el
Paseo de la Libertad, la plaza del Altozano y la calle “ancha” para así contemplar
los magníficos edificios modernistas del Albacete Contemporáneo: Diputación
Provincial, Museo Municipal, Gran Hotel, Colegio Notarial, Casas de Cabot, de
Legorburo, Pasaje de Lodares, Cámara de Comercio, Instituto Bachiller Sahuco.
Después de pasear por la Plaza Mayor muy cerca están la Casa de Perona, el
Centro Cultural de la Asunción y la Catedral podemos ascender por la calle de
la feria para contemplar el Molino de la Feria (fuente representando dos molinos
unidos por una noria), la Plaza de Toros (llamada la “chata” fue construida en
1917 y es de estilo neomudéjar), continuar por el parque de los Jardinillos, el
recinto ferial (conocido popularmente como ”la sartén”) y terminar en el parque
de la fiesta del Árbol punto de partida de diversas rutas

dispone de un Club de Tenis, un Aeroclub,
un Club de Tiro Pichón etc aunque sin
duda las actividades deportivas mas demandadas son las realizadas en el Circuito
de velocidad, el Campo de Golf y mas recientemente las rutas de senderismo.

urcada por los ríos Júcar y Cabriel, La Manchuela es una comarca
llena de contrastes que seduce al viajero por su riqueza paisajística y cultural. Situada en el extremo nororiental de la provincia de

The old Arabian “Al-Axara” brings together beauty and history. It
has been declared a historical-artistic monument, and it is situated in an awesome headland in the winding course of the river.
There are countless caves which open up holes in the rock surface. Of those which can be visited the Garadén, Masagó and Devil
caves are the most well-known. The Arabic castle is a remarkable

En esta población podemos realizar diversas actividades como pueden ser: visitar la Iglesia de la Purísima
Concepción. Disfrutar con las vistas de los miradores al

autóctono, es sin lugar a dudas la estrella de la pesca comarcal.

A part of the Júcar valley opens out on the way to Villalgordo and down
to Fuensanta, Montalvos and Tarazona de la Mancha to come into La
Manchuela where the course of the river flows deeper and the valley gets
narrower. Hunting is one of the oldest traditions. There are many hunting
reserves, most of them belonging to hunting societies. We can find many
stretches of land on the banks of the river to fish. The local river crab is,
no doubt, the most attractive animal to fish.

Quijote. Empezamos nuestra ruta en la localidad por la rectangular “Plaza Vieja” o Plaza Mayor, Recientemente se ha abierto un
Centro de Interpretación de la Alfarería y la Tinajería.
This city is known for its important wine and cheese industry.
Nevertheless it is part of the “wine paths” tour and it contains the
greatest extension of vineyards in the world. It also stands as part
of The Quixote Tour on its own right. We start our tour in “Plaza
Vieja” or Main Square. An Interpretation Centre of Pottery and
Jar-making has recently been opened.

A wonderful setting where the river Júcar enters the province of Albacete, near
the Gosálvez Palace, which has been declared a Cultural Heritage Site. The Santa
María Magdalena church is the most important monument in Villalgordo del Jucar.
The Júcar riverbanks are an ideal place for fishing and active tourism including
rambling, mountain biking and paintball.

grass craft sector are the well-known enea
chairs from La Roda and particularly La Gineta,
and also the traditional furniture manufactured by artisans in Tarazona, Villarrobledo and
La Gineta. The most famous products of the
pottery industry are the “cuervera” (a type of
punch bowl) from La Roda, which is a type of
punch bowl designed for preparing and serving “cuerva” and the earthenware jars from
Villarobledo.

uando nos acercamos a esta comarca, situada en el extremo sudeste
de la provincia de Albacete, lo primero que llama nuestra atención es
su rico patrimonio arquitectónico, reflejo de una dilatada historia que ha
ido dejando su huella en este territorio a lo largo de sus 10 municipios.
Cuentan estos pueblos y ciudades con una importante herencia monumental, donde destacan Chinchilla y Almansa, con imponentes castillos,
bellos cascos antiguos de trazado medieval y casonas blasonadas, que
ilustran la relevancia de estas ciudades desde el medievo. Encontramos
testigos de su riqueza arqueológica por todo el territorio, también hay
que destacar en esta zona sus arraigadas y vistosas fiestas, como la
Semana Santa de Chinchilla, y las fiestas de Moros y Cristianos de
Caudete y Almansa, declaradas de Interés Turístico Regional.
Es también ésta una zona de contrastes geográficos, que cuenta con un
paisaje singular donde alternan amplias llanuras salpicadas de cerros,
espesas sierras y espacios lagunares de gran riqueza ecológica. Aparecen
espacios de gran interés ecológico y belleza paisajistica, perfectos para
la práctica del senderismo y el ciclo turismo. Entre Pozo Cañada, Pétrola
y Corral Rubio encontramos varias lagunas saladas de origen endorreico, declaradas espacio protegido en el Plan de Conservación del Medio
Natural de Castilla-La Mancha, este excepcional ecosistema es el refugio
de numerosas aves acuáticas como el flamenco, el aguilucho lagunero o
el pato colorado y muchas otras de carácter migratorio.
La comarca Monte Ibérico-Corredor de Almansa es poseedora asimismo de un rico patrimonio etnológico que pervive como parte de su más
profunda identidad. Todo ello convierte a la comarca en un territorio
lleno de diversidad que ofrece al visitante un mundo de posibilidades
culturales, deportivas y gastronómicas.
A
s we approach this town, located in the south-east of the province
of Albacete, the first thing that attracts our attention is its rich archaeological heritage, which reflects the lengthy history of the ten towns
in the area. These towns are full of monuments. Perhaps Chinchilla and
Almansa are the major attractions, with their imposing castles, beautiful
old medieval quarters and large noblemen’s houses give an idea of the
importance of these towns since the Middle Ages. Everywhere we evidence
of the area’s archaeological riches. The long established festivities in the
area are also a highlight, such as the Holy Week of Chinchilla and Moors
and Christians festivals of Caudete and Almansa, declared of regional
tourist interest.
This is also an area of geographic contrast. the unique landscape includes wide plains full of hills, dense mountain ranges and areas with lakes
of great ecological wealth. Molaton, one of the highest mountains in the
province at 1,265m, can be found in Higueruela. There are areas of great
ecological interest and beautiful views, ideal for hiking and cycling tours.
Between Pozo Cañada, Petrola and Corral Rubio we find several salt lakes
of endorreic origin, declared protected spaces in the plan for the conservation of the environment of Castilla-La Mancha, this exceptional ecosystem
is home to a great number of water birds such as flamingos, the lake
falcon or the red duck and many others of migratory character.
The area of Monte Iberico-Corredor of Almansa also has a rich etnological
heritage which survives as an essential part of its identity. All this makes
this area a territory full of diversity which offers the visitor a whole world
of cultural, sports and gastronomic possibilities.

Historical city, capital of the province in 1833, which
still maintains old corners and monuments. At the top
of the town you can see the castle. In the Main Square,
there are two interesting buildings, one is Santa Maria
del Salvador parish church and the other, the City
Council. The visit to the “cave houses” is also very attractive.
The urban area surrounding the castle was declared a historical monument. The city extends
at the foot of the proud Castle, the best preserved in the province, from which walking tours
depart which include visits to the Palace of the
Count of Cirat (The Mansion), or the Our Lady
of the Assumption Church.
This is the most eastern of our villages. It
has a number of interesting monumental,
natural and cultural features.
The pottery tradition can be seen in the interesting
National Museum of Pottery.
The stately facades are very interesting. During
the War of Succession the famous “Battle of
Almansa” took place here.
From here we take A-31 highway to Caudete.

declarado conjunto histórico. La ciudad se extiende a los pies de su altivo Castillo, el mejor

Casa Grande), o la Iglesia de Nuestra Sra. de la
Asunción.
Interesante son las fachadas solariegas Durante
la guerra de Sucesión se libró la famosa “Batalla
de Almansa”. Desde aquí nos dirigimos por la
A-31 a Caudete.

a Sierra de Alcaraz y Campos de Montiel ubicada en el suroeste de
la provincia de Albacete, ha constituido a través de la historia la “tierra de encuentros” de Andalucía, el Levante y la Mancha. El territorio
aparece como un mosaico de contrastes en el que se combinan llanuras
y montañas. Intrincados valles y abruptas sierras se funden con vastas
llanuras. Es ésta una comarca regada por ríos alegres y accidentados en
su juventud, que se transforman en serenos y apacibles en una madurez
en la que, con frecuencia, llegan a conformar tranquilos humedales. Son
tierras cuya riqueza natural se extiende desde el Calar del río Mundo

he Sierra of Alcaraz and Fields of Montiel, in the south-east of the province, has always been a land where Andalusia, Levante and La Mancha
have met, “a land of encounters”. This land is a combination of contrasts
where plains and mountains go together. Valleys and steep sierras join
endless plains. This is a land watered by lively and turbulent rivers in their
sources which grow peaceful as their course progresses, frequently forming wetlands. Huge natural resources spread from the `Calar´ of the
Mundo river to the Lakes of Ruidera. Due to its location different civilizations settled in this territory through the ages, that is why it is a good
reference to travel through history, characterised by the people, craftwork
and gastronomy.

highlights. However, the most attractive

Council) in the north and The Regatería,
in the west. Andrés de Vandelvira took
part in the town’s design.
Next to the Santo Domingo Lonja, there
is the beautiful tower of Tardón, which
together with the tower of Trinidad, form
the “twin towers”.

“Diez Puertas”. Es conocida como “cabeza de
Extremadura y llave de toda España”. Siendo
toda ella un conjunto histórico-artístico, destaca la obra extraordinaria del conjunto de
la Plaza Mayor del s. XVI, en sus lados, las
tres lonjas: la del Corregidor (llamada también de Santo Domingo), la del Ahorí (o del
Ayuntamiento) al norte, y la de la Regateria,
al oeste. Andrés de Vandelvira intervino en el
proyecto urbanístico.
Junto a la lonja de Santo Domingo se alza la
bella torre del Tardón, que junto a la de la
Trinidad, constituyen “las torres gemelas”.

la fabricación de muñecos de trapo y cerámica, realizados en el
Masegoso. En la industria agroalimentaria predomina la producción de vino, queso, aceite de oliva, leche de oveja, carne de cerdo
y caza.
The artisan production of carpets and knives has not been lost in

Far from the plains of La Mancha, the Sierra del Segura is one of the outstanding areas in the province of Albacete. The landscape is full of leafy
glades, forests, deep valleys and above all, the murmur of water, because
every village has a river or a stream. The Segura river, the Mundo river,
the Tus, the Madera, the Zumeta, the Taibilla…All of this makes this area
is one of the most highlights of the province, where `Los Chorros del Río
Mundo´ and `La Cabaña de los Mojones´, stand out as special protected
nature reserves. All this hilly area is an invitation to tourism. In Riópar the
wonderful source of the Mundo river and the views of Liétor and Letur.
In Ayna you can see one of the most picturesque villages. Bogarra and
Paterna are to be visited for the beauty of the landscape and the Madera
river and Molinicos for its matchless setting. In Elche de la Sierra you can

and Alcadozo, near Ayna, we turn right on CM3216 highway to Bogarra.

A distinctly beautiful landscape surrounds this mountain village which is in the most northern part of the Sierra del
Segura.
The route starts in Elche de la Sierra. We take the CM-3203
and go through Vicorto on the way to Férez, the so-called
“jewel of the mountains” situated in a beautiful setting between the river Segura and the Taibilla Canal.

The Sphinx of Haches, “The Iberian
Gioconda” majestically stands in the
middle of pine and fallow fields.

The surroundings of Nerpio are such
that you can take in history and nature
on the same visit. Inside the Cultural

can see the Cave Paintings of Solana
de la Covachas, which have been declared a World Heritage Site.
There are other special places to visit
in the township, such as the Vizcable
Tower, the Taibilla Reservoir or the
Pico de las Cabras.

The original village, known as Old Riópar, let you visit the XII century castle ruins and the Gothic Church
of Our Lady of Sorrows. At the end, you can see one
of the most beautiful landscapes of the country: the
Birth of River Mundo.
In the middle of the great cut, the Los Chorros Cave
appears. In this place, River Mundo crashes.

This spectacularly picturesque little
town situated on the mountain slopes
in the Segura valley, retains its medieval
aspect. The medieval castle (the best

El pueblo original, conocido hoy como Riópar Viejo,
permite visitar las ruinas del castillo del siglo XIII y la

Mundo.
En el centro del gran cortado, aparece la cueva de Los
Chorros, donde el río Mundo se precipita al vacío.

Los alrededores de Nerpio permiten conjuntar,
en un mismo recorrido, los temas naturalísticos
e históricos que, aquí, parecen ir de la mano.
Si nos adentrándonos en el Parque Cultural
(un autentico museo al aire libre) las Pinturas
Rupestres de la Solana de la Covachas declaradas Patrimonio de la Humanidad. En su término municipal encontramos otros paraje singulares como La Torre de Vizcable, el Pantano
de Taibilla o el Pico de las Cabras.

mármol en Letur o Elche de la Sierra. Tambien la elaboración de esencias
en Yeste. O la recuperación del telar tradicional en Nerpio. En la industria
agroalimentaria se puede comprar embutidos, aceite, quesos, yogures,
Dulces artesanos. Carne de Cordero y Cabrito o mermeladas ecologicas.

Esparto grass arts and crafts are a major attraction. In Riópar or in
Letur they have specialised in the production of platforms, chests or
large jars. There are creative ceramic artists: chess sets, dolls, games in Elche de la Sierra. Bronze and brass objects are produced in
Riópar, stone and marble carved works in Letur or Elche de la Sierra.
Essential oils are made in Yeste. Traditional looms are being used again
in Nerpio. Agrifood products include sausages, oil, cheese, yoghurt,
handmade cakes, lamb, goat’s meat and ecological jams.

La Caza/The Hunt
La provincia de Albacete es un referente de primer orden en caza y pesca. Las especies cinegéticas más destacadas encuentran en esta provincia un lugar ideal para criar y establecerse. El conjunto de su territorio
ofrece el hábitat perfecto tanto para la caza menor de la perdiz roja, la
paloma torcaz, el conejo de monte, la liebre, la codorniz, la tórtola, el
zorzal o diversas aves acuáticas como para la caza mayor del jabalí, el
corzo, el zorro, el gamo, el muflón, la cabra montés, o el ciervo. De todas ellas, la perdiz roja, por sus características, es la reina de los campos
albaceteños, y motivo más que justificado para unas jornadas de caza.
Los aficionados a este deporte encuentran una elevada densidad de perdiz roja en centro de la provincia y el Campo de Montiel. En dirección
a las sierras de Alcaraz y del Segura su población se reduce, y es más
fácil encontrar jabalí o macho montés. De las diferentes modalidades de
caza posibles, en la provincia se puede practicar la caza menor en mano,
en ojeo al paso, con perro, con reclamo macho, o la caza de liebres con
galgo Por su parte en la caza mayor se puede practicar la montería,
rececho, batida, en espera, caza con arco e incluso la cetreria. Durante
los meses de invierno, es frecuente encontrar aficionados en los campos
provinciales, dedicados a un milenario deporte para el que estas tierras
son un escenario privilegiado.

The Province of Albacete is a first-class model in hunting and fishing.
The most outstanding cynegetic species are in this province, a place to
rear and settle down. Its territory offers the perfect habitat not only for
minor hunting of red partridges, wood pigeons, wild rabbits, hares,
quails, turtledoves, thrushes or different water species; but also for major hunting of boars, roes, bucks, mouflons, wild goats, or deers. Of all
of them, the red partridge is the queen of the Albacete countryside and
an extra justified reason to enjoy hunting days.
Hunters find a big population of red partridge in the centre of the province and Montiel Field. On the way to Alcaraz and River Segura Hills, this
number is reduced, but it is easier to find boars or wild machos. Of all
the different and possible ways of hunting, in the province you can practise minor hunting at hand, at fast sight, with dog, with male redamo,
or the hunting of turtledoves with galgo. On the other hand, in major
hunting, you can practise monteria, stalking, whipped, bowhunting, and
also hawking. During winter time, it is frequent to find fans in the province
countryside, devoted to a millennial sport which is a privileged scenery
in this land.

Instalación que dispone de aguas minero-medicinales declaradas de utilidad pública. Son aguas que poseen alguna
propiedad curativa al contener ciertas sales minerales o por

ambas características. Además, debe contar con servicio
médico y con instalaciones para poner en práctica las técnicas que prescriban.

public use. They are waters that have certain healing property because they contain certain mineral salts or because
they conserve a determined temperature, or because they
conjugate both characteristics. Besides, it should have medical service and equipment to carry out the technique prescribed.

Albacete offers a large number of Spanish courses
together with a very attractive complementary tourist
interest for each specific group

panish courses for teenagers between 14 and 18, whose complementary offer is related to culture and sports.
Spanish courses for adults, plus adventure sports.
“One to one courses”, plus activities depending on the interest or
professional skill of the student.
Spanish courses aimed at teenagers between 14 and 18 and adults,
offer:
A Spanish level test which will be carried out the first day to create
groups with the same levels; small groups, (up to 12 students);
trained Spanish native teachers; 3 hour daily lessons at University;
use of new technologies to learn Spanish and student Achievement
Certificate, for all students who attend the course. There is a possibility, for those students who require it, to obtain a Guaranteed
Certificate by the University of Castilla-La Mancha, passing an
exam.
Complementary activities for the teenagers between 14 and 18:
-Indoor and outdoor sports in the city.
-Cultural activities in the city.
-Trips around the province.
-Trips to tourist areas and nearby towns and cities.
Complementary activities for adults
For this course, the adventure sports are the main activities: Nonengine flights, parachuting, hot air balloon flights, paragliding, and
engine flying courses.
“One to one” courses:
This is a special course for businessmen, professionals and students
whose main purpose is, in a short period of time, to improve their
skills in Spanish. It takes place in the teacher’s house as it is the
best way to focus the attention of the trained Spanish teacher all
over the course.In addition, the students will be with teachers who
are specialized in the specific subject they will have previously
chosen when they signed up for the course. The options offered are:
Castilla la Mancha wines; Saffron world; the oil world; the penknife
world; Archeological route; Quijote route; the bullfighting world; the
horse world and the agricultural world of “La Dehesa de los Llanos”.

ACCOMMODATION
There are three accommodation options with Spanish families,
carefully selected.The three options detailed below are full
board.
Option 1.
Accommodation in three star “houses” in the city centre
(usually flats). You have the chance of sharing the room with
a member of the family. Shared bathroom. Public transport stops nearby. There will be the chance of sharing the
accommodation with students from different nationalities.
Option 2.
Accommodation in four star “houses” in the city centre or
residential area. One single room and shared bathroom.
Public transport stops nearby. You will be offered the
chance of sharing the accommodation with students from
different nationalities.
Option 3.
Accommodation in five star “houses” in residential areas
(outskirts of the city). One single room and optional private
bathroom. Private transport to University. There will be only
one student per family.
