Mission Statement
We, the people of the Parish of the Holy Cross, are a
Multi-cultural parish of the young and elderly, married
and single, healthy and broken. We welcome all to come
together and give praise and thanks to God. Through the
celebration of the Eucharist and the other sacraments
and devotions of the Church, we reach out to others in
mercy and compassion and seek to share the joy of the
Gospel throughout our large community. Here, with the
support, strength, and inspiration we receive from one
another, we are nourished daily on our journey of faith.
WEDDINGS: Please make arrangements at the parish
office one year prior to the date of the wedding.

Good Shepherd Sunday… How Can You Serve?
THE FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER IS
COMMONLY KNOWN as “Good Shepherd
Sunday”. This week the Gospel is taken from Jesus’
teaching in John’s Gospel when Our Lord calls
himself the Good Shepherd. Today is also known as
Vocation Sunday because today we pray that more
people will answer the call to serve the Church as
priests, deacons and religious. In our Diocese of
Camden we have a vocation shortage to the diocesan
priesthood. We are blest to have three (3) priests and
four (4) deacons serving our parish, therefore the
priest shortage has not yet hit home. But it is real.
Please pray for and encourage vocations in your
family and in the community. I continue to believe
that God is calling men in our parish to the priesthood
and diaconate. Do not be afraid to encourage
vocations to the priesthood and religious life. At the
same time it is important to remember that everyone
has a vocation. By virtue of your baptism you are
called by God to offer your unique gifts to the rest of
the community. What is your vocation? What is your
special gift? What contribution can you make to the
life of the Parish of the Holy Cross? Yes, Vocation
Sunday is for all of us. You need to reflect about how
God can use you to live the Mercy of God in your
family and community. We are always looking for
new Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of the
Eucharist, Choir Members, CCD (PREP) catechists,
Greeters, RCIA Team Members and numerous other
volunteers to assist at our various parish events. We
sometimes talk about a “vocation crisis”. There is no
vocation crisis in the sense that God continues to call
people to serve. The crisis is the lack of response.
Far too many are not aware of their vocation or, if
they are, they are not responding to it. I pray that you
will be sensitive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit in
your life and listen to the gentle voice of the Good
Shepherd calling your name: Come, follow me.
God Bless you and your family,
Fr. Vince

STEWARDS FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT
“The disciples were filled with joy and the Holy
Spirit.” (Acts 13:52) Because the disciples heard Our
Lord’s call, they were able to spread the Gospel
message with strength and vitality. Stewards, too, can
experience that same joy if we take time to open our
hearts, listen to God, ask for His direction and allow
the Holy Spirit to guide our lives and our decisions.

April 17, 2016 Fourth Sunday of Easter
Nosotros estamos
¿Cuál es to vocación?
Siempre estamos buscando a nuevos Lectores,
Ministros Extraordinarios de la Eucaristía, Miembros
de Coro, Catequistas, Hospitalidad, Equipo de RICA
y otros numerosos voluntariados para asistir a
nuestros eventos parroquiales.
continúa llamando a gente a servir.
Dios te bendiga a ti y a tu familia,
P. Vince

Espíritu Santo guie nuestras vidas y nuestras
decisiones.

RAMO
ESPIRITUAL
El Domingo, 8 de mayo es ese día
especial cuando honramos a nuestras
madres terrenales. Aunque existen muchas

In this memoir, set as deeply in his mind as in the
Southeast Asian jungle, a young American soldier embarks
on a journey to a war that, for him, will never be over.
The world was a playground for Mickey,
a naive Irish American kid bored with
his life. His father served in World War
II, his brother was a Marine in Vietnam;
now it was his turn. His 365 days in
Vietnam builds in torment until an
attack on a bunker complex in Cambodia.
Wounded, his friend captured, he
becomes a tormented survivor knowing
he is always just a heartbeat from death.
