ST. JOAN OF ARC

Message from Father Nelson:
Dear brothers and sisters,
God’s love is radical. Jesus was a radical. Christians
are called to be radical. But be aware that it is not that
kind of radicalism based on unmerciful and closed
hearts and minds. It is not the radicalism of some
people that seems more like psychological issues than
the real love of God.
God’s love radicalism lays on Jesus’ cross and resurrection. God gave up everything for us, He wants to
take us back to him. Jesus’ love was radical, all of his
words and actions were proof of the love he has for
his father. In this context we can understand better
why Jesus called us not only to be good, because that
is not enough; he called us to be perfect, as God our
Father is perfect. In Jesus, by accepting him as our
Lord and savior, and by proclaiming our faith to others, we unite ourselves to Jesus, and in that unity we
also become one with the Father. We have come to
know the Father through the Son. God is love, radical
love. As a result, we have no option but to be love for
one another.
Saint Therese of the Child Jesus understood this perfectly:
“O Jesus, my love, at last I have found my calling:
my call is love. Certainly I have found my place in
the Church, and you gave me that very place, my
God. In the heart of the Church, my mother, I will be
love, and thus I will be all things, as my desire finds
its direction.”
Dear family of Saint Joan of Arc, our vocation as
individuals, and as community, is to be love. God’s
call is to love and in that love to redeem this world so
needed of love. We are called to bring the light of
Christ over all humankind by the way we live. We
certainly must live by the commandments of God that
is no other thing than radical love for him and all his
children.
Are you taking this commandment seriously?
Are you loving radically, even your enemy?
Are you loving with purity of intention?
Are you giving up your pride and selfishness for the
sake of love?
Are you asking God for love without bringing that
love to others?
Love unceasingly, love without fatigue, love without
reservation, love without seeking to be repaid. Love,
just love. That way you will be perfect and pleasing
to God.

“I give you a new commandment: love
one another. As I have loved you, so you
also should love one another." (JOHN
13:34) It is easy to love someone when
they love us back. But it takes courage to
love someone when we feel unappreciated,
used or feel our opinion doesn’t matter. It
takes courage to “love my neighbor” when
he/she may be someone I don’t like, someone I don’t know or someone who doesn’t
look like me.

WHO IS GOING TO DO IT?
At the Parish Council and Finance committee, we have talked about ideas for
fundraisers, the problem we face is that
we have no one to run this ideas.
I can’t do it all.
We need leaders who love this parish

a nosotros.

ENSEÑEMOS A LOS NIÑOS Y JOVENES
COMO SE DEBEN COMPORTAR EN LA
SANTA MISA
