ST. JOAN OF ARC Message from Father Nelson: Dear brothers and sisters, “Unless you are circumcised according to the Mosaic practice, you cannot be saved”. The mistake that some of the apostles and disciples were making is clear, they thought that salvation is granted by the obedience of the Mosaic law, and by believing this, they completely ignored the fact that salvation is only possible through Jesus. It is the person of Jesus Christ who saves, not the law, not the external actions of humans, or their religious practices. Sadly even today for some the law is their source of salvation, so in that way they justify themselves in their incapacity to love. Jesus is the law, Jesus is God, Jesus commandment is unequivocal: “love one another as I have loved you”. The love of Christ is what saves men. But how do we prove we love him? Jesus gave us the answer: “Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him”. If we say we love Jesus but we do not recognize that every believer is God’s dwelling, so we are liars. If we say that we love Jesus but we do not try to love one another, we are liars. If we say we love Jesus, but we try to live our faith by the law of humans and not by his divine law, we are liars. Loving Jesus is the ultimate experience of divine love. When we truly love Jesus we: 1. Aren’t afraid of anyone or anything. 2. We have hope even in the darkest moments of our lives. 3. We live in the joy of his resurrection. 4. We work tirelessly for justice and peace. 5. We love and work for the good of our communities. 6. We become in the heart of the church love. 7. We become the light that illumines this world, and the salt that brings new flavors to the bitterness of life. Let us love you Lord Jesus with sincerity of heart.
