abp Lyophilised platelets LYOPHILISED PLATELETS Hinweise zur Verwendung Handling Instructions For the quantitative determination of vWF through Ristocetin Co-Factor Co DESCRIPTION Lyophilised platelets are prepared form fixed human platelets and have been lyophilised for long-term long stability. Each vial of lyophilised platelets is reconstituted with the required amount of Tris-buffered Tris saline to give a platelet count of approximately 200 x 109/l. APPLICATION Quantitative analysis of vWF in human plasma can be determined by the agglutination of formalin-fixed formalin platelets via the GPIb-IX GPIb receptor and in the presence of patient plasma and Ristocetin1. It is generally accepted that the Ristocetin Ri Co-Factor Factor assay is the most useful in-vitro assay for diagnosis of vWD1. Each unit of plasma used in this product has been screened for the presence of antibody to Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Type I and II, Hepatitis B surface antigen and Hepatitis C and found to be negative. However no test can offer complete assurance that human plasma will not transmit infectious disease. As with all materials of human origin, this product should be treat as infectious and necessary precautions should be implemented. Dispose of waste material according to individual countries regulations. PROCEDURE Use the reconstituted lyophilised platelets as a source of human platelets platelets in most commercial Ristocetin Co-Factor Co activity Assay procedures. EXPECTED VALUES In general three types of vWD are recognised. Type I vWD is characterised by reduced levels of all the normal multimers in plasma and platelets. Type II shows an abnormal abnormal pattern of plasma multimers with normal or abnormal platelet patterns, and type III has undetectable vWF. Normal results vary between 63% and 99%. In vWD results are 2 generally below 40% and usually below 30% . RISK AND SAFETY Normal laboratory health and safety procedures should be adhered to.
