St. Barbara Parish, Brookfield
From the Pastor’s Desk...
For your considera on, the Parish Transforma on Team
presents the Mission Narra ve of the Parish of St. Barbara in
Brookfield. This narra ve will be our guide as we construct a
plan to guide our parish into the next few years.
We, the people of St. Barbara parish, believe we are called
to be a People of the Pentecost. United in faith, hope and
love, we proclaim the truth and beauty of Christ’s gospel.
We are a diverse community and we celebrate our
differences, our talents and gi s. We seek to use these as
we join together to bring the good news of Christ to all
people and to build up God’s Kingdom.
A Missionary Spirit has always been a pearl of St. Barbara
Parish through its 100-year history. As St. Paul writes in his
le er to Timothy, (2 1:14), “guard the good treasure
entrusted to you with the help of the Holy Spirit.” We have
done just that as a parish. Today, that Spirit con nues to
guide us as we reach out to the poor and needy in our
midst, bringing comfort to the sorrowful and hope to the
downtrodden. It is in works of charity and jus ce that
people see what the church is all about and who we are as
Chris ans.
As People of the Pentecost, we will be witnesses to our
Catholic faith by proclaiming the Gospel in what we say and
do, just as Jesus commissioned his disciples to go forth to all
the ends of the earth. At home, school, work or in the
community, our mission is to be Christ to others and always
reflect the love of the Lord regardless of the challenges we
face.
Just as important, is catechesis. As we strive to deepen our
knowledge and faith, and develop our rela onship with
Christ, we will become more Christ-centered and be able to
share the love and faith we have with others.
All of these efforts are centered in our love for the
Eucharist, the source and summit of our Catholic faith. It is
in the sacred body of Christ that we are nourished and
for fied to go forth and do the work that Jesus asks of us.
These are the building blocks upon which we develop our
mission as a parish and a vision for the future.
The fire of the Holy Spirit not only lights our way, but burns
in our hearts sparking a zeal for our God, His people and His
church. In Romans, 15:13, Paul says: “May the God of hope
fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may
abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Through our efforts and willingness to serve, to evangelize
and catechize, and with the help of the Holy Spirit, we
become a beacon of Christ’s love to the people and the
communi es around us.

diferencias, nuestros talentos y dones. Buscamos u lizar
Mientras
profundizamos nuestro conocimiento y fe y desarrollamos
Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
November 11, 2012

"Relying only on charitable dona ons, the Christcentered response of a pregnancy center is able to
accomplish much even beyond saving a child's life, a
child who is created in God's image and likeness and is
des ned for eternal life. No small thing! The daily work
and ministry of the pregnancy center also channels God's
love in the child's parents and family, brining about an
opportunity for evangeliza on, healing, restora on,
be er paren ng, more marriages and adop ons, and, in
the long term, healthier families."

Christmas Pageant: Each Christmas Eve, the children
of St. Barbara perform a Christmas Pageant at the
4:00 p.m. Family Mass. The children reenact the
birth of our Lord Jesus Christ during the gospel
reading at this Mass. There will be a Christmas
pageant on Christmas Eve Mass again this year.
St. Barbara’s Religious Ed would like to encourage
children and their families to take part in the 4:00
p.m. Christmas Eve Family Mass.
To ready ourselves for the reenactment, the
group ac vi es set for November 14 and November
28 during the Religious Educa on sessions will be
“Music in the Church” and will involve the same
music for Christmas Eve. Addi onal prac ces
sessions for the par cipants will be added over the
coming weeks.
The pageant is a wonderful part of the Christmas
celebra on and your child’s par cipa on is a
memory to be cherished for a life me.
Thanksgiving Holiday: In honor of the Thanksgiving
holiday—please note there are no Religious Ed
classes on Wednesday, November 21, 2012. Enjoy
the many blessings of the season.
