Week by Week through The Year of Mercy
The Ascension of the Lord– As the liturgical year—and this Jubilee year of Mercy—unfold, we reflect on what Jesus’ ascension
meant for the first disciples and means now for us. Stay in Jerusalem, Jesus had instructed, awaiting “the promise of the Father. In
a dew days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. You will
be my witness in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (acts 1:4-5,8). Despite
Jesus’ Absence, they wait “with great joy...continually
in the temple praising God” (Luke 24:52-53). But as we
join them, waiting and worshiping, the enduring challenge-theirs and ours-is delivered by “two men in
white” (Acts 1:10). In every age, disciples must stop
looking at the sky, head down the mountain, and go
back into the world, “commissioned”, says Pop
Francis, “to announce the mercy of God, the beating
heart of the Gospel, “inviting everyone to find “in out
parishes, communities, associations and movements...wherever there are Christians,,,an oasis of mercy” (Misericordiae V ultus, 12)

Seventh Sunday of Easter
The mass is ended, our mission begins. We used to have this dismissal by the presider as we prepare to
go after the celebration of the mass.
Every time we celebrate the eucharist, we are reminded of our mission. Today we are reminded of
this as we celebrate the Solemnity
of the Ascension of the Lord this
Sunday. While the mission of the Lord on earth ends,
the mission of the church begins. The Lord nonetheless
continues to be with us. He prepared his disciples for his
departure as we listened and reflected about the farewell
discourses from the Gospel of John in the liturgy of the
word these past days. He assured them that although he
would be away, they should not be anxious and afraid.
He will always be with them. He assures them of his
presence. He promised the advocate, the Holy Spirit to
them who will guide and empower them as they begin
the mission that the Lord entrusted to them. As we look
up to heaven, where Jesus is taken up into God’s very
being, participating in God’s powerful presence in the
world, we are called to look around and at everyone,
taking part in the Lord’s mission. In the words of Pope
Emeritus Benedict XVI, “Jesus’ return home means that
he has eternally opened up within God a space for humanity, and now calls the whole world into this open
space in God (Jesus of Nazareth).” That is why part of
Ascension is the sending of the Apostles to all nations to
invite all humanity to the space of God. Hence, as the
Lord calls and invites us, let us open our hearts to his
Spirit, taking part in the mission to built His Kingdom
of peace, love and justice.

“Dear Lord, today I turn to you to give you thanks for my mother.
With your own gift of life, she bore me in her womb and gave me
life. She tenderly, patiently cared for me and taught me to walk
and talk. She read to me and made me laugh. No one delighted in
my successes more; no one could comfort me better in my failures.
I am so grateful for how she mothered me and mentored me, and
even disciplined me.
Please bless her, Lord, and comfort her. Help her loving heart to
continue to love and give of herself to others. Strengthen her when
she is down and give her hope when she is discouraged.
Most of all, Lord, on this Mother's Day, give my mother the graces
she most needs and desires today. I ask you this, in the name of
Jesus, our Lord and Savior forever and ever.”
Guamanian Dinner
Queen of Angel’s Annual Guamanian Dinner Fest will be
held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 following the 5:00 p.m.
Mass. Tickets will be available after weekend Masses and at
the rectory. Adults $10.00, children under 10 years of age
$7.00 Ticket sale deadline is Wednesday, May 18th. Tickets will not be available at the door, so get yours early. No

often, we see these victims in our daily lives. It is important to
recognize the signs of abuse and to knowhow to interact with possible victims. The best way to start a tough conversation with
teens who may be at risk is simply to talk to them—ask what’s

Séptimo Domingo de Pascua
La misa ha terminado, comienza nuestra
misión. Solíamos tener este despido por
el que preside, mientras nos preparamos
para ir después de la celebración de la
misa. Cada vez que celebramos la Eucaristía, se nos recuerda de nuestra misión. Hoy se nos recuerda esto como se
celebra la Solemnidad de la Ascensión
del Señor este domingo. Si bien la misión del Señor en los extremos de la tierra, la misión de la iglesia comienza. El Señor, sin embargo,
sigue siendo con nosotros. Se preparó a sus discípulos para su
partida al escuchar y reflexionamos sobre los discursos de
despedida desde el Evangelio de Juan en la liturgia de la palabra en estos días pasados. Les aseguró que a pesar de que iba a
estar lejos, no deben ser ansioso y asustado. Él siempre estará
con ellos. Él les asegura su presencia. Él prometió el defensor,
el Espíritu Santo a los que le guiará y darles poder a medida que
comienzan la misión que el Señor les ha confiado. Al mirar al
cielo, donde Jesús es llevado al ser mismo de Dios, participando en la poderosa presencia de Dios en el mundo, estamos
llamados a mirar a su alrededor y en todo el mundo, participando en la misión del Señor. En las palabras del Papa emérito
Benedicto XVI, "regreso a casa de Jesús significa que él ha abierto eternamente en el seno de Dios, un espacio para la humanidad, y ahora llama a todo el mundo en este espacio abierto en
Dios (Jesús de Nazaret)." Por eso, parte de la Ascensión es el
envío de los Apóstoles a todas las naciones para invitar a toda
la humanidad al espacio de Dios. Por lo tanto, ya que el Señor
llama y nos invita, vamos a abrir el corazón a su Espíritu, participando en la misión de construir su Reino de paz, el amor y
la justicia.
Introducion a la Liturgia del Dia:
La celebración de hoy es un recordatorio de que vivimos en el
entretiempo de la primera venida de Cristo y de su segunda venida, entre su ascensión y el final de los tiempos. En este entretiempo tenemos trabajo que hacer: Hemos de continuar su misión en la tierra. Reunidos hoy por invitación de Dios, oremos
pata seguir siendo discípulos fieles y diligentes hasta el final.

Cena Guamanian:
La Iglesia Queen of Angels tendra su cena annual. Se llevará a cabo el
sábado 21 de Mayo, tras la misa 5:00pm. Los boletos de entradas estarán
disponibles después de las misas de fin de semana y en la rectoría. Adultos $10, niños menores de 10 años $7 los boletos no estarán disponibles
en la puerta, así que consiga el suyo antes de tiempo. Sin sacar cenas!

Conozca las señales del tráfico humano
El tráfico humano reclama cada año a muchas víctimas jóvenes, y muchas
veces vemos a estas víctimas en nuestra vida diaria. Es importante
reconocer las señales de abuso y saber cómo interactuar con posibles víctimas. La mejor forma de comenzar una difícil conversación con adolescentes
que pueden estar en riesgo es simplemente hablando con ellos, preguntándoles qué está pasando en sus vidas y si ellos están bien. Señales de abuso
incluyen heridas sospechosas e inexplicables, evasión, o dependencia en un/

Agradecimiento por mi madre
Estimado Señor, hoy me dirijo a usted para darle gracias por
mi madre. Con su propio regalo de la vida, ella me llevó en
su seno y me dio la vida. Ella con ternura, con paciencia se
preocupaba por mí y me enseñó a caminar y hablar. Ella
leyó a mí y me hizo reír. Nadie deleitado en mis éxitos más;
nadie me podía consolar mejor en mis fracasos. Estoy muy agradecido por
la forma en que ella me crió a mí y mentor, e incluso me disciplinado. Por
favor, bendita sea, Señor, y consolarla. Ayudar a su corazón lleno de amor
para continuar a amar y dar de sí misma a los demás. Reforzar ella cuando
está abajo y darle esperanza cuando ella no es aconsejable.
Por encima de todo, Señor, en este Día de la Madre, dar las gracias a mi
madre que más necesidades y deseos en la actualidad. Me pregunto esto, en
el nombre de Jesús, nuestro Señor y Salvador por los siglos de los siglos.
