Thursday after the 8:30 AM Mass. The hours will
be from 9:30 am and will end with the Mass at
7:00 PM.

six months in advance with one of the Priests of the Parish.

Baptism: Fir st Saturday of the month at 1:00 PM. Parents
must come to the Rectory with the with child’s original birth
certificate at least one or two months in advance. Instruction is
held on the Monday before the Baptism at 7:00 PM. For more

VIGÉSIMO TERCERO DOMINGO DEL
TIEMPO ORDINARIO
¿Qué quiere decir ser Cristiano? El ser
Católico no significa simplemente seguir leyes y
reglas. La religión es algo que va mucho más allá
de un legalismo litúrgico y moral: es un encuentro
con el Resucitado – un encuentro que te cambia la
vida haciéndote discípulo de la Resurrección. Por
eso que en este Evangelio Jesús tiene que corregir
los que los siguen: “Junto con Jesús iba un gran
gentío, y Él, dándose vuelta, les dijo: Cualquiera
que venga a mí y no me ame más que a su padre y
a su madre, a su mujer y a sus hijos, a sus hermanos y hermanas, y hasta a su propia vida, no puede ser mi discípulo. El que no carga con su cruz y
me sigue, no puede ser mi discípulo.” Este gentío
seguía a Cristo porque habían visto milagros y
comido de la multiplicación milagrosa del pan.
Quizás nosotros también seguimos a Jesús porque
las cosas nos vayan bien, para conseguir un trabajo mejor, para que mi esposa cambie o para que
mis hijos se gradúen. ¿Cómo es que conoce a
Cristo? ¿Qué ha cambiado en tu vida? Ser Cristiano es abandonarse en las manos de Dios renunciando uno a sus planes y sin exigir nada en cambio. El Cristiano renuncia a su voluntad y cree
ciegamente en la Divina Providencia. Si crees que
Cristo se ha entregado totalmente a ti, posees entonces todo, en esta vida y en la vida futura. ¿Si
tengo a Cristo de verdad en mí, como puedo ser
pegado al dinero? ¿O esclavo del alcohol, del sexo inmoral, de la droga? Jesús quiere mucho al
gentío que lo seguía; no quiere que se equivoquen. ¡Si te has encontrado con Cristo entonces
eres libre de verdad! Y esta libertad no solamente
te hace amar a Dios sobre todas las cosas, pero
hace de manera que nada sea un obstáculo entre ti
y tu creador. Ese es el riesgo: pensar de seguir a
Cristo sin uno renunciar a su idolatría. ¿Quieres
ser libre de amar a tu hermana, a tu hermano, a tu
esposa? Renuncia a vivir por ti mismo entonces,
porque Cristo vivió enteramente por tí.
