T he Pastor’s Corner
My dear Parishioners,
It was a magnificent celebration — last Sunday, when the
parish came together to celebrate Eucharist, bless our new
building and Marian Prayer Garden, and picnic together!
Fr. Robert Joerger, our Passionist Provincial, delivered a
moving homily on the meaning of “Father’s Day” that
touched many hearts, and blessed the building and garden.
Bishop Wamika of Uganda honored us with his presence,
and among our guests were beloved Fr. Michael Greene,
C.P. and Fr. Benedict Wakabi also of Uganda. Our bilingual
celebration of the Eucharist was among the best we have had
here at St. Paul of the Cross, reverential and enthusiastic!
I want to thank everyone who made this wonderful day
possible—the liturgy, the blessing, the picnic. So many of
you lent your hands, your heart and your talents to the events
of the day! It was such a joy to see everyone working
together so beautifully, and to enjoy the benefits as I and so
many others did. As the saying goes, “You made our day!”
Thank you. A special word of thanks to all who worked
behind the scenes, including those who set up and took
down the picnic area. “We have to do this again,” many
said. “Yes, but not too soon,” I said. First, let everyone
relax and enjoy the summer. You deserve it. Meanwhile,
the Parish Council and I will scan the calendar for a fall date
for our next big parish get-together.

P. Robert Joerger, nuestra Pasionista Provincial, presento
una homilía conmovedora sobre el significado del "Día
del Padre" que toco muchos corazones. Luego procedio
con la bendicion del edificio y el jardín. El Obispo
Wamika de Uganda, nos honro con su presencia, y entre
nuestros invitados estaban el muy querido P. Michael
Greene, C.P. y el P. Benedict Wakabi tambien de Uganda.
Nuestra celebracion bilingue de la Eucaristía fue una de
las mejores que hemos tenido aquí en San Pablo de la
Cruz, reverente y entusiasta!
Quiero agradecer a todos los que hicieron posible este día
maravilloso, la liturgia, la bendicion, el picnic. Muchos de
ustedes brindaron sus manos, sus corazones y sus
talentos a los acontecimientos del día! Fue una alegría ver
a todos trabajando juntos de una manera cordial, y de
disfrutar de los beneficios que yo y tantos otros disfrutaron. Como dice el refran, "Me alegraron el día!" Gracias.
Un especial agradecimiento a todos los que trabajaron
detras de escenario, incluidos estan los que recogieron y
acomodaron todo al final del picnic. "Tenemos que hacer
esto de nuevo", muchos dijeron. "Sí, pero no demasiado
pronto," les dije. En primer lugar, dejemos que todos nos
relajemos y disfrutemos del verano. Se lo merecen. Mientras tanto, el Consejo Parroquial y yo vamos a revisar el
calendario y ver una fecha en otono para nuestro proximo gran encuentro parroquial.
