INVITED
The Good News is that we have
all been invited—invited to the
Kingdom, invited to be disciples. It’s
a life-changing invitation, and like
so many other such invitations, it
requires a great deal of deliberation
and discernment. Whether we
choose marriage, ordination, single
life, or community life, we know the
serious planning and consideration
that accompany these profound decisions. Like the tower-builder in the
Gospel, we have weighed both the
monetary and emotional cost. We
have pondered and planned our
lives in the direction to which we believe God has
called us. And while we pray for guidance and acceptance of God’s will, we often fail to understand
so much. Like Solomon, we turn to God for wisdom and counsel in our life-changing decisions.

INVITADO
La Buena Nueva es que todos
hemos sido invitados –invitados al
Reino, invitados a ser discípulos. Es
una invitación que cambia nuestra
vida y, como tantas otras invitaciones,
requiere mucha consideración y discernimiento. Así escojamos el Matrimonio, el Orden sagrado, la vida célibe o comunitaria, sabemos la seria
planificación y consideración que requieren estas importantes decisiones.
Como el constructor de la torre en el
Evangelio, hemos sopesado los costos tanto monetarios como emocionales. Hemos reflexionado y planificado
nuestra vida en la dirección en la que
creemos Dios nos ha llamado. Y mientras oramos
por orientación y aceptación de la voluntad de Dios,
con frecuencia no comprendemos muchas cosas.
Como Salomón recurrimos a Dios para pedirle sabiduría y consejo al tomar decisiones que cambiarán
nuestra vida.
TODAY’S READINGS
First Reading — Who can ever know God’s counsel unless God gives wisdom and sends the Holy Spirit from on
high? (Wisdom 9:13-18b).
Psalm — In every age, O Lord, you have been our refuge
(Psalm 90).
Second Reading — Paul asks Philemon to accept back
his slave Onesimus, not as a slave but as a brother
(Philemon 9-10, 12-17).
Gospel — To be a disciple of Jesus one must carry one’s
own cross and renounce all possessions (Luke 14:25-33).

The remodeling of the hall kitchen and seismic retrofit of the classrooms continues. The kitchen is almost
complete. The retrofitting of the classrooms will continue through the month of September. For safety and
security, please stay away from construction areas. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

PSA 2016 - Thank You!
Thank you to everyone who have made a pledge to
the 2016 Pastoral Services Appeal. We still need
more pledges!
If you haven’t had a chance to make your pledge, we
invite you to please stop after Mass today or by the
parish office during the week and pick up an

Once we have reached our diocesan goal of $75,000,
all rebates will go towards the Kitchen Renovation
Project.

Come and Celebrate our 11th Annual
Blue Mass with the Knights of
Columbus at St. Anthony Claret Church
Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 11:00a.m.
The Knights of Columbus, Luke E. Hart Council 5565 invites all
parishioners to attend a Blue Mass Ceremony at St. Anthony
Claret Church, to honor all law enforcement officers, firefighters,
and paramedics. It will honor service personnel who are
protecting the United States against all terrorist nations, as well
as their deceased comrades.
The Blue Mass is named for the predominant color of uniforms
worn by officers in police and fire departments nationwide. It
was first celebrated at Notre Dame University in 2001 as a
Special Mass for the victims of the attacks of September 11
and for the police officers, firefighters and rescue workers who
died while serving and protecting others.
The Mass gives us an opportunity to show the men and women
who serve us that we are truly grateful for their commitment and
also gives us an opportunity to ask for God’s blessing and
protection for them in the coming years.
The Mayor of Anaheim, the Chief of Police, Chief of the Fire
Department, all city officials, police and fire department
personnel and Bishop Dominic M. Luong are invited to attend.
The Blue Mass is open to the public.
All religious
denominations are invited.
Let us all come and pray for the men and women who protect us
in our daily lives. The Police Department and Fire Department
in attendance will receive a check for their respective Survivor’s
Fund.
