The City and County of Broomfield began its planning phases in 2002. Why is this project necessary? The purpose of the 120th Avenue Connection project is to accommodate existing and forecasted east-west commuting traffic, allowing for a more direct travel route and alleviating traffic congestion. When are crews working? Normal working hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. When required, night time work will be performed between the hours of 6:30 p.m and 5:30 a.m. Will there be road closures or traffic delays? Day time lane closures on the project will be Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Night time lane closures will be Sunday through Thursday, 6:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. The construction has been planned in phases to minimize impact to residents and travelers and to maintain access to existing business and residences in the construction area. Flaggers and other traffic control devices will be utilized to keep everyone informed of where and when construction is occurring. Speeds may be periodically reduced in the construction zone. The project is scheduled to be complete at the beginning of 2018. What is the cost of this project and how is it funded? What is the 120th Connection Final Phase? This is the final phase of a project that began in July 2009 with the construction of a new six-lane portion of State Highway 128 and a bridge over US 36 that connects with Wadsworth Boulevard. This is the final phase of the project, completing the construction of the new roadway. Where is the project located? The project extends along 120th Avenue from Wadsworth Parkway, across US 36 to approximately 120th Avenue and Teller Street, then down existing 120th to Main Street. I-70 Exit 31 Horizon Drive Roundabouts CDOT, City of Grand Junction, and Horizon Business Improvement District The total cost of this project is $90.1 million. The final phase under construction is approximately 30 million. The project funding is from City and County of Broomfield, the Federal Highway Administration and the Colorado Department of Transportation. How can I find out more information?
