The British Colum bia Day Act was first introduced to the Legislative Assem bly in 1974. The aim of the Bill was to create a statutory holiday on the first Monday in August to recognize the pioneers in the province and the act gained royal assent in 1996. As Christians we are called to pray for the governm ent and the citizens. Consider 1 Tim othy 2:1-2. . . “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.” W ith all the violence and weak state of fam ilies around the world, our prayers for reverence, respect and responsibility in governm ent and society are m ore im portant than ever. ************************************************************************ Thank you to all who helped organize and who participated in the parish picnic last Sunday in Cathedral Square. It was a good scene for our faith com m unity and the local com m unity. ************************************************************************* In previous bulletins I m entioned that there are opportunities to help care for the servers robes used at our Masses. Please leave your nam e at the parish office if you are able to assist. Also we are still looking for a spare bedroom to rent for a single wom an who is a refugee in Lebanon. Jesús da a entender cuál es el error de los dos herm anos: hacer de los bienes terrenos lo m ás im portante en la vida, ante lo cual el Reino pasa a un segundo plano.
