WELCOME RECEPTION FOR NEW PARISHIONERS AND SCHOOL

CORPUS CHRISTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, HOUSTON, TEXAS
Homebound or in the Hospital? Members of our parish who
are not able to attend Mass due to being hospitalized or who
are confined at home, and who would like to receive communion, are asked to contact the parish office at 713 667 0497. We
will be happy to ask one of our Communion Ministers to the
Sick to arrange a time to visit you and bring Communion. They
have received special training for this ministry. If you are in
need of a priest for anointing or to receive the Sacrament of
Penance, please let the parish office know so that one of our
priests can schedule a visit.
Lector & Communion Minister Training Sessions – Would
you like to serve as a Lector or Communion Minister at Mass?
Training for both of these ministries will be offered in English on
Saturday, September 20 at 10:00 am for Lectors and 11:00 am
for Communion Ministers. Please feel free to participate and
learn how you might be able to share your gifts with the parish.
The trainings will be offered in church.
Men’s Retreat at Holy Name Retreat Center – The fall Parish
Men’s Retreat will take place the weekend of October 17 – 19.
This retreat, to be held at Holy Name Retreat Center, is open to
all men of the parish. Consider setting aside this weekend now
so that you may have some dedicated time for prayer, reflection and spiritual renewal. For information, please contact

ESL Instructors Wanted & Needed - Do you have a little free
time in the evening to help fellow parishioners and neighbors
develop their English language skills. You do not need to speak
Spanish to help with this program, but you most likely will improve your Spanish skills in the process and help others with
their English. We need teachers who can commit to one night a
week (Tuesday or Thursday) or get acquainted with the process enough to become a substitute teacher. All teaching materials are provided by the Parish. If you have more questions or
are interested in volunteering, please contact Tomas
Rodriquez, 713-729-5662.
Parking Reminder - Please remember that when parking on
Cheena St. for Mass or other parish events, driveways should
not be blocked and No Parking signs must be followed. Cars
should be able to pass up and down the street without difficulty.
Extra parking is available on Sundays next door at Lee’s
Burgers.

NEW PARISH WEBSITE
We are pleased to announce the launching of our new parish
website at www.corpuschristichurchhouston.org. The website
is still under construction, however, features available to you
now include the posting of the Sunday bulletin each week, the
Mass schedule and featured parish activities. Check it out and
watch for further developments over the next few months.

COME, JOIN US!
CCE Religious Education classes begin today, Sunday at
10:15 am sharp in Prefontaine Hall. All parents, students and
catechists, please meet in the hall to begin the year together.
CCE Registration for all children in the Sunday morning
program is available this weekend at 10:15 am in Prefontaine
Hall. Please go to the Parent/Youth Gathering prepared to give
a check or cash written to "Corpus Christi Church" and Memo
to: CCE. Tuition is $30 for one child and $20 for each additional child. Registration is for grades PK (4 yr.) through high
school.
The final opportunity to register for Confirmation this year
will be held for 10th graders in CCE and for 10th graders in
Catholic High School in Prefontaine Hall, 10:15 am Sunday,
September 28. Further information, instruction, required
forms and calendars will be given out. The SEPARATE Confirmation preparation fee is $50. Parents, sponsors, high school
students and high school Catechists are all required at this
one-time-only meeting that starts the Confirmation process. A
copy of the student's BAPTISMAL CERTIFICATE, required by
the Catholic Church, is to be given to DRE, Susie Way, by
September 28. Even if you were baptized in Corpus Christi
Parish, a copy of the Baptismal certificate must be submitted.
Children's Liturgy of the Word is offered on Sundays at the
9:00 am Mass. This is very popular with families having children in grades K - 5. We are in great need of adult and high
school help if we are to continue this year. Some prior leaders
have "retired" as their children are now older. Please call Coordinator, Judy Ledet, at 713-667-1244.

The Catholic Chaplain Corp of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston provides pastoral and sacramental ministry for patients in the Medical Center Hospitals, and also
provides such care in other hospitals in the Houston area.
A very important part of the Corp Ministry is offered
through the Pastoral Assistants (PA). The PA formation
process is one year in length. If you are interested in learning more about being a PA and in serving those who are ill,

series of classes begins December 6, 2008.

¿Hospitalizado o Enfermo en Casa- Miembros de nuestra
parroquia que no pueden atender a Misa debido a que se encuentran en el hospital o no pueden salir de casa, a quienes les
gustaría recibir la Comunión, se les pide ponerse en contacto
con la oficina parroquial al 713-667-0497. Con mucho gusto
pediremos a alguno de los Ministros de Comunión a los Enfermos de ponerse de acuerdo para visitarle y llevarle la Comunión. Ellos han recibido la debida preparación para servir en
este ministerio. Si necesita un sacerdote para administrar el
Sacramento de la Unción de los Enfermos o para confesarse,
por favor notifique a la oficina para que en sacerdote planee
visitarle.
Talleres de Ministerios - Felicitamos y agrade cemos a todas y cada una de las personas que
tomaron parte en los interesantes talleres que se
ofrecieron recientemente. Su presencia es una
señal de su compromiso para servir en su ministerio de la mejor manera posible y crecer en su fe
Católica.
Tengan en cuenta que el siguiente taller que se va a realizar el
25 de octubre de 3:00 – 6:00 pm y vamos a tener la bendición
de contar con el Padre Pablo, quien durante el verano estuvo
celebrando algunas Misas. Reserven esté día y estén seguros
de aprovechar estas oportunidades de formación personal y
ministerial que nos ofrece nuestra parroquia.
Cuidado al estacionar en al calle Cheena – Por favor, se les
recuerda que al estacionarse en la calle Cheena durante la
Misa u otros eventos parroquiales, es importante tener en consideración a nuestros vecinos. No se debe estacionar a las
entradas de los garajes. Los carros deben poder pasar libremente en los dos sentidos de la calle sin dificultad. Observe los
letreros de NO Estacionarse. Estacionamiento extra disponible durante los domingos en el restaurante Lee’s Burgers.

Bienvenida a todas la Familias del Catecismo – Hoy domingo 7 de septiembre damos una calurosa bienvenida a las familias
que continúa respondiendo al llamado de formar a sus hijos en la fe de su Bautismo.
Recordemos que el próximo domingo se inician las clases de Catecismo para estar seguros de dejar libres las bancas reservadas
para los niños del Catecismo. Muchas gracias por su colaboración al apoyar la formación cristiana de los niños de nuestra comunidad parroquial.
Entrevistas – Recuerden padres de familia quienes tienen hijos que este año se preparan para la Primera Comunión, que empezando este mes, pueden traer a sus hijos a su entrevista previa para continuar su preparación. Favor de llamar para hacer su cita.

Inscripciones del Catecismo – Si por alguna razón aún no han inscrito a sus hijos en el Catecismo, le pedimos que por favor
tome el tiempo de llamar mañana lunes a la oficina para ver la mejor manera se servirle de acuerdo a sus necesidades.
CATECISMO – El próximo domingo 14 de septiembre a las 11:45 am esperamos con gran alegría a todos los niños que este año
van a participar en el Catecismo. Pedimos a los padres de familia de tomar el tiempo de traer a sus hijos puntualmente, llevarlos a
su salón de Clase y recogerlos inmediatamente al terminar la Misa en al iglesia.
¡Que Dios bendiga de una manera especial el tiempo y esfuerzo para colaborar todos juntos en la formación completa de sus hijos!
Domingo Catequético - Corpus Christi se sumará a las parroquias católicas de todo el país para celebrar el Domingo Catequético
durante el fin de semana del 20 -21 de septiembre del 2008, con una ceremonia de comisión de catequistas. El evento anual resalta la importancia del ministerio de la enseñanza formal en la Iglesia Católica. El tema de este año es “La Palabra de Dios en la
Vida y en la Misión de la Iglesia”.
En la actualidad hay más de medio millón de catequistas sirven en 19,000 parroquias, misiones y escuelas católicas en toda la
nación. Estos catequistas contribuyen a presentar la fe y las tradiciones de la Iglesia y proporcionan oportunidades de estudio,
reflexión y enriquecimiento de la fe a más de 4 millones de niños, jóvenes y también a un gran número de adultos.
