“Let Your
Light Shine”
WEEK BY WEEK THROUGH THE YEAR OF MERCY
Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
(Readings: Isaiah 66:10-14c — Galatians 6:14-18 — Luke 10:1-12, 17-20)
Last Sunday, Jesus rebuked James and John for wanting to “call down fire
from heaven” (Luke 9:54–55) on an unwelcoming town. As he sends forth
disciples today, Jesus again forbids retaliation against non-receptive listeners
(10:10–11), showing us how to be Jesus’ missionaries of mercy” this Jubilee
Year of Mercy. Like the first disciples, we are sent not to proclaim ourselves but Jesus. As
Jesus sent them in pairs, so are we also to work together in the community of the Church. We
often describe the Church as Isaiah describes Jerusalem in today’s first reading, our
comforting, nurturing Mother (Isaiah 66:13). So, going forth gently, like lambs among
wolves (Luke 10:3), we share comforting peace, nurturing food and drink (Luke’s image for
Eucharist), and Jesus’ healing promise of unfailing, unconditional mercy (10:5, 7, 9). Thus
Jesus bids us proclaim the kingdom of God by showing what God’s kingdom looks like in
action. “Go, preach the Gospel,” Pope Francis’ saintly namesake of Assisi is said to have
instructed his first friars, “and when necessary, use words!”
Sacrificial Giving
Fostering Stewardship as a way of life
for Blessed Trinity Catholic Church
Weekend of June 25th & 26th, 2016
Our generosity report will return next week.
Have a safe and blessed independence day!
In today’s Gospel, we hear Jesus invi ng his disciples to be
evangelizers. “The harvest is abundant,” Jesus says. But
those who are willing to invite others to a deeper
rela onship with the Lord are few. Good stewards who are
willing to witness their Catholic faith to others know they
are “like lambs among wolves.” They are encouraged to be
gentle, pa ent and loving, knowing they may face rejec on
and even fierce opposi on. The Year of Mercy invites us to
be be er stewards of our faith, to give posi ve,
courageous, joyful witness to others who have turned away
from their rela onship with Jesus. Is there someone we
should be reaching out to this week?

kids learned to follow the Light of Jesus! It would not have been possible
without the help and support of our parish! Thank you to all of you that

parents of all the children that participated, for sharing them with us last
week, their presence brought such joy. Thank you to all that

to Carlos Bernard, for being so easy to work with and for always being so
supportive and helpful. Thank you, also, for the support from parish organizations and church staff, we
are grateful to you. And thank you to Father Roland and all the clergy here at Blessed Trinity, for
allowing us to provide this ministry to our young people. Each year our goal is to plant seeds in these
children, young and old, so that they may bring Jesus’ Light into the world! ~The VBS Team

Our Catholic Appeal
Just a friendly reminder to honor your pledges for Our
Catholic Appeal. It is very important that these pledges be
paid so that our parish will reach and hopefully, exceed our
goal. For those of you who have yet made a pledge, it is not too late to do so. There are envelopes in the
Narthex, at the back of the chapel, and in the church office. Thanks to all who have completed their pledge
or are keeping up with their payments.
Prayer For Peace
All life is sacred as each one of us is made in the image and
likeness of God. We cherish each person as a child of God.
We pray for victims of violence and acts of terror...for their families
and friends...and all those affected by such acts against God's love.
We pray for the people of the city of Orlando that God's mercy and
love will be upon us as we seek healing and consolation.
Every time we look at the Cross, we see how God has forgiven us in Christ – with a love that bears all
things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things; love never fails.
We dry the tears of those who weep and mourn as gently as Veronica wiped the Lord’s bleeding face
on the Via Dolorosa.
May the Peace of Christ dwell within our heart.

Reflexión….
Año Jubilar de la Misericordia
Is 66:10-14c/Gal 6:14-18/Lc 10:1-12, 17-20
proclamarnos nosotros sino a Jesús.
