For the wife who says it's hot dogs tonight, because she is home with me, and not out with someone else.
For the husband who is on the sofa being a couch potato, because he is home with me and not out at the bars.

For the teenager who is complaining about doing dishes, because it means she is at home, not on the streets.
For the taxes I pay, because it means I am employed. For the mess to clean up after a party,
because it means I have been surrounded by friends. For the clothes that fit a little too snug,
because it means I have enough to eat. For my shadow that watches me work,
because it means I am out in the sunshine.
For a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning and gutters that need fixing,
because it means I have a home.
For all the complaining I hear about the government, because it means we have freedom of speech.
For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot, because it means I am capable of walking
and I have been blessed with transportation. For my huge heating bill, because it means I am warm.
For the lady behind me in church who sings off key, because it means I can hear.
For the pile of laundry and ironing, because it means I have clothes to wear.
For weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day, because it means I have been capable of working hard.
For the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours, because it means I am alive.
For the priests/religious who sacrifice their lives for my sake, because without them I would not know our God.
For the Catholic Church who guides me and keeps me in the Faith, because without it I would fall and never get up.
For Jesus who died for me, because I know that God loves me and wants me with him in Heaven.

National Vocation
Awareness Week
NOVEMBER 1-7, 2015
Pray for Vocations During the First Week of November
National Vocation Awareness Week (NVAW) will be celebrated in our country
November 1-7. This is an annual week-long celebration dedicated to vocations
in priesthood, diaconate and consecrated life through prayer and education,
and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of
these particular vocations. Please ask Our Lord for more dedicated, holy priests,
deacons and consecrated men and women: “May they be inspired by Jesus Christ,
supported by our faith community, and respond generously to God’s gift of a vocation."
Church fact: NVAW began in 1976 when the U. S. bishops designated the
28th Sunday of the year for NVAW. In 1997, this celebration was moved to coincide
with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, which falls on January 13 in 2013.
Beginning in 2014, NVAW was moved to the first full week of November.

PASTOR’S MESSAGE
TWO IMPORTANT
RESPECT LIFE EVENTS
The relationship between a food packing day and a baby shower may not
be obvious at first glance. There is, however, an unbroken link between
the two activities because both of them form a part of the seamless
garment of Catholic Respect Life truths. Both activities, caring for the
unborn and infants and feeding the hungry are our ways of living the
spiritual and corporal works of mercy. We believe that all life from cradle
to grave is a sacred gift from God and one that we must reverence and
care for. The most precious gift of life is often a fragile and vulnerable one
that needs compassionate protection and nurturance. Our loving Creator
God made all from nothing and placed us within creation as its stewards.
We are passionately concerned for the unborn children of this world
because they are the most vulnerable and often at risk. We also have a
responsibility for all of our starving brothers and sisters around the world.
We know that the world potential to feed our population is great.
We, however, must figure out how to accomplish the harnessing of
creativity and will so that we can end the scourge of world hunger.
The activities described below are great examples how together we
can make a difference for life right here in Boca Raton.
St. Joan of Arc 4th Annual You(th) vs. Hunger Food Packing Event
Nearly 1 billion people go to bed hungry each night, with many going for
days without food. Nearly 16,000 children die from hunger related causes
each day - that’s one child every five seconds. Missionaries in the poorest
of countries are desperate for life-saving food to feed children and their
families who are struggling to find meals each day.
St. Joan of Arc and the youth in our community are joining forces this
Saturday. They will pack thousands of meals to be sent to starving children
and families abroad and help fight world hunger in the name of Jesus. At
last year’s You(th) vs. Hunger Food Packing Event our youth packed more
than 80,000 nutritional meals for impoverished children in developing
countries. This year we are expecting to pack 100,000 meals! We are
very enthusiastic to continue participating in this exciting event.

St. Joan of Arc Annual Baby Shower
The SJA Respect Life Ministry is commissioned by the church to be an
instrument for information, resources and action that fosters the sanctity
of life from conception to death.
Annually, St. Joan of Arc organizes a Baby Shower in the church in support
of Birthline/Lifeline Program & Pregnancy Care Centers. Parishioners bring
an unwrapped baby gift that is placed on the altar before and after all
Masses this weekend.
The Birthline/Lifeline Pregnancy Care Program promotes the sanctity of life
and offers pregnancy care services at its pregnancy care center locations.
Services are offered free of charge to all clients who meet basic criteria. At
the pregnancy care centers, women coping with an unplanned pregnancy
can access compassionate counseling regarding adoption, alternatives to
pregnancy terminations and more. When a client who is abortion-minded
sees her baby with an ultrasound, she has a change of heart and chooses
life! Other programs of Birthline/Lifeline include their Adoption Project,
Speakers Guild and Style for Life.
The SJA Columbiettes will be at all Masses assisting our parishioners to
take the Baby Items to the altar and our SJA Youth Group will help load
the Birthline van.
May God continue to bless our St. Joan of Arc ministries!

All Souls Day
Memorial Mass
COMMEMORATION OF ALL THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED MASS
will be held on Monday, November 2, at 7:00pm in the Church.
The Mass is celebrated every year in loving memory of all those who have
passed away or have been buried since last November 1st. You are invited
to bring a framed photo of your loved one who has passed; which will be
placed on the steps of the Sanctuary. Due to the potential number of families
attending, we must limit the photos to ONE picture only and no larger than
8x10" please.
Everyone who has passed away this last year will have their name read during
the Mass. If you are a parishioner who has had a loved one pass away out of
town and would like to participate, please call Cheri Popik at 561-809-6868
as soon as possible with your loved one's name and date of death. You are
more than welcome to invite family members or friends to attend this Mass
with you.
TODAY IS
PRIESTHOOD SUNDAY
Let's pray for our Priests:
Lord Jesus, we your people pray to You for our priests.
You have given them to us for our needs.
We pray for them in their needs.
We know that You have made them priests
in the likeness of your own priesthood.
You have consecrated them, set them aside,
anointed them, filled them with the Holy Spirit,
appointed them to teach, to preach, to minister,
to console, to forgive, and to feed us with
Your Body and Blood.
Indeed, we thank You for choosing them from among us,
so that they understand us as we understand them,
suffer with us and rejoice with us, worry with us and trust
with us, share our beings, our lives, our faith.
We ask that You give them this day the gift You gave
Your chosen ones on the way to Emmaus:
Your presence in their hearts,
Your holiness in their souls,
Your joy in their spirits.
An let them see You face to face
in the breaking of Eucharistic Bread.
We pray to You, O Lord, with Mary, the mother of priests,
for Your priests and for ours.

4 Easy Steps
TO LEAVE A LEGACY FOR ST. JOAN OF ARC
STEP 1 Gather your information about your assets, including retirement
funds, bank accounts and real property.
STEP 2 Choose the type of bequest you’d like to make.
1. Unrestricted bequest. This is a donation to be used for St. Joan of Arc general funds.
This donation would be used where it is most needed.
2. Restricted bequest. This donation specifies how the money is to be used.
(This could be restricted to go into the endowment, a specific ministry, or the building fund.)
A bequest can be made in a number of ways:
• A specific dollar amount.
• Specific assets, such as securities, real estate, or tangible property.
• Retirement account assets, consisting of any benefits remaining in your retirement plan.
• A residuary bequest, St. Joan of Arc receives all or a percentage of your estate after all
other obligations are met.
• An existing will or trust can be easily amended to include a gift to St. Joan of Arc
without rewriting the entire document. Your attorney can prepare a simple document,
called a codicil, which adds a new bequest while reaffirming the terms of your will.
Similarly, an attorney can prepare an amendment to a revocable trust to add
St. Joan of Arc.
STEP 3 Meet with your estate planning attorney.
Would you like to donate
flowers to decorate the altar
on the weekend masses?
If you need to create a will or just update your existing document, you’ll want to
get advice from your estate planning attorney.
An attorney can advise you as to the best way to structure your will in order to take
care of your loved ones first and then your charitable interests while assuring the best
tax benefits.
As a charitable, not-for-profit all bequests to St. Joan of Arc are fully deductible for estate
tax purposes.
STEP 4 Contact us.
If you would like to donate flowers to decorate our altar, please call
Patty Delaney, (561)952-2868 or email her at [email protected]
(Flowers can be donated in memory of a loved one, birthdays or for any special occassion.)
