Mount the sensors on a wall which will be at a similar temperature to that of the monitored area. Make sure that the sensor has a clear line-of-sight to the protected area. Since infrared light cannot penetrate solid objects, the sensor must see an area in order to detect a moving person. Aim the sensor toward the interior, away from windows and heating/cooling sources, avoiding direct or reflected sunlight. The unit can be corner, wall, or bracket mounted at 1.2 m (4), 2.3 m (7.5), or 3 m (10), depending on the lens used. TOP VIEW Wide Angle Lens or Pet-Alley Lens False alarm immunity from small animals with the MC-760 can be expected in installations with: Any number of rats* Any number of birds in a pet cage Any number of cats (or similar-sized animals)* Random flying of birds in a warehouse *The total weight of animals may not exceed 11 kg. (25 pounds). For false alarm immunity with the above animals, the sensor must be mounted at standard height of 2.3 m (7.5) or 3 m (10), using the standard wide-angle lens optics. Make sure an animal can't get within 1.8 m (6) of the sensor, for example by jumping on furniture or shelving. CONFIGURATION Configure DIP Switch S1 to best suit the application (Factory default settings are OFF): Sensitivity Test (LED enable) S1 ON 1 2 Normal Test OFF High Normal Operation LED INDICATOR The red LED on the front cover indicates the sensor's operational status. The sensor automatically enters the Zone Finder mode after power-up and self-test, approximately 3 minutes. The sensor remains in Zone Finder mode for 10 minutes. During this time, a walk-test can be performed to find the locations of the different zones. The red LED turns ON every time the edge of one of the 44 sensor views is entered. NOTE: In Zone Finder mode, the Alarm relay does not open every time the red LED is ON. Test Mode (LED enable) for Walk-Test The Test mode is used for testing actual alarm sensitivity. In the Test mode, the red LED lights when the sensor is in the Alarm state (Alarm relay open). The sensor is put into the Test mode by setting S1:2 to ON. The sensor remains in Test mode for 10 minutes. When the sensor is in the Test mode, walk across the protected area at the ranges to be covered. With the sensor set for high sensitivity, the red LED should indicate an alarm condition after two to four normal steps. At normal sensitivity, the red LED should indicate an alarm condition after three to five normal steps. Each time the red LED goes ON, wait for it to go OFF, then wait 12 seconds before continuing the walk-test. When there is no motion in the protected area, the LED should be OFF. NOTE: In any mode, the alarm relay functions according to the settings of S1:1. FCC Notice: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/television technician for help.
