Me London, won three awards at the European Hospitality Awards

at the European Hospitality Awards, held in London, where the best prizes Opening of the Year, Best Suite Hotel and

ME London, entirely designed by the renowned architectural firm Foster & Partners, was elected in the category of
"Opening of the Year (New Construction)" for its outstanding innovation of interior and exterior design. He also received
an award in the category of "Best Suite" for his Suite I, topped by a glass dome with 360 º views of the city of London.
Finally, the jury decided to award the special prize of the night,
"Absolute Winner: Best Hotel of the Year" by Me London.

MELIÁ OPENS IN MOROCCO THREE HOTELS
The project will have three distinct characteristics
hotels , though sharing the same brand Meliá Hotels &
Resorts as defining attributes and all the five-star
category:
• A Beach Hotel, on the beach , occupying a plot
between the golf course and the sea, with 396 rooms ,
Spa , Convention Center , in addition to 4 restaurants
and 3 bars, a kid's club and a beach club. Opening
date : 2016.

JORGE MERINO
Founder and C.E.O of the Proffetional Group Company, 1974, Zaragoza, Spain.
He had only an A4 Audi estate car, 3.000 Euros and he was 28 years old. He was planning a route by some region, and he leapt to run
from hotel door to hotel entrance, trying to sell something which sounded like Chinese language to tourism field entrepreneurs: plastic
surgery for hotels to which time had damaged. Hotel’s owners used to say that they were in charge about decorations by themselves.
First client he got was NH hotels, which entrusted Barcelona City Avenue Hotel. He invoiced about 20.000 euros. From that, there are
more than ten years, and currently Jorge Merino thinks that it necessary being “a little crazy” to do something like he did: to be an
entrepreneur in Spain. He says too that we have to try once and again after every setback.
His current company, Proffetional, which he founded in 2003 with the amount that he got after selling his shares coming from that first
adventure, has Meliá Company as main customer, it invoices about ten millions euros per year, it has 52 workers staff and it has offices
in Madrid, Warsaw, Casablanca and Barcelona, as well as the new office he has opened in Medellin (Colombia) eight months ago with
a local partner.
Behind cactus and grilles which separate different spaces at Kenzi Europa Hotel in Agadir (Morocco), behind futurist areas from Innside
Colorium Hotel in Düsseldorf (Germany), behind walls dressed with huge ballerinas photographs from Sando apartments in Poland, or
behind white world with colour touches from IBB Menorca Aquarium, is Proffetional Company.
They not only do the projects yet, like at their beginnings. Jorge Merino says: “by this way, we did not earn money. Currently, I have
architects, interior designers, purchasing department and works department”.
Proffetional wasn’t born in Spain, but in Poland. After finishing his first project, Mr Merino saw an opportunity in Polish lands, “because
they had been given the Football European Championship, they were going to join in Euro zone, they were 40 millions inhabitants, and
they were very politically stable”. After this, reality showed up. “I haven’t studied any master course. My master was Poland. I don’t
speak polish language. They did not trust somebody who comes abroad. They have much more bureaucracy than here in Spain, …” He
admits that he received an important financial help from Spanish Embassy, which building they even entrusted him to make
refurbishments. Nevertheless, he didn’t get any kind of financial assistance not from Icex either Spanish Government. This is one of his
main complaints. “To be an entrepreneur in Spain is very complicated, because nobody helps you. When somebody is going to become
an entrepreneur, they only have a concept, an idea. It would be of paramount importance to have at least a minimum financial
assistance”
Proffetional does not have any pending project in Spain, except the lobby and reception of a hotel in Madrid. This country, which more
than 10% richness that it produces, is in debt to tourism, is not refurbishing its hotels. “Spanish brand hotels are getting old, and we
would make the mistake from being the best tourism country in the world to get lost quality because not to invest”. Maybe this is not the
moment, with the current financial crisis? “One of the reasons because Meliá relies on us, is due to the invest they do, they quickly
make profitable getting to increase rooms average prices”
For instance, this strategy has afforded to make refurbishment works at Tryp Cibeles in the Madrilenian Gran Vía Avenue, located in
the old Russian Embassy. With a “limited” investment (6.000 euros per room), reusing existing materials and elements like “part of the
room carpentry works windows, floors have been changed, excessively ornate decoration has been painted and eliminated” using more
moderate and soberer materials, it has been realized what Mr Merino calls “the wow effect” or “the awesome effect” when a guest
comes inside.

With an ambitious interior design project that involved three
months of work and a budget of 1.3 million euros, opens in
Berlin Mitte Hotel Tryp 4 * located in the heart of the German

agreement with Magma Tourism, a strategic
