¿A QUIEN IREMOS?
TO WHOM SHALL WE GO?

Whom will you serve?
Whom will you follow?
This is the fundamental choice of life. All
else flows from it: how we look on
ourselves—either as a child of God or in
some other way, how we look on
others—either as brothers and sisters or
in some other way. Joshua calls the
people to make decision. As leader, he
names their options, then makes clear
his own decision: “As for me and my household, we will
serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15). Jesus also presents the
Twelve with a fundamental choice. As others who had
been his disciples are now leaving him because of his
words about eating his flesh and drinking his blood, Jesus
turns and asks, “Do you also want to leave?” (John 6:67).
It is the moment of decision. Peter, soon to be leader of
the community of believers, models the decision of a true
disciple: “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the
words of eternal life. We have come to believe and are
convinced that you are the Holy One of God” (6:68-69).

a servir? ¿A quién vas a seguir?
Esta es la opción fundamental de
la vida. Todo lo demás fluye de ella:
cómo nos vemos a nosotros mismos, ya
sea como un hijo de Dios o de alguna
otra manera, cómo vemos a los demás,
ya sea como hermanos y hermanas, o de
alguna otra manera. Josué llama al

comunidad de los creyentes, ejemplo de un verdadero discípulo:
"Señor, ¿a quién iremos? Tú tienes palabras de vida eterna, y
nosotros creemos y sabemos que tú eres el Santo de Dios "
(6: 68-69).

Congratulations to the Parishioners of St. Francis of Assisi
for their outstanding support of The Food Pantry at
St. Francis. Due to your efforts, from July 2014 to June
2015, the Food Pantry was able to distribute 102,940
pounds of food to approximately 17,000 of those in need
in the Apopka area, and provide significant additional
assistance in the form of housing, medical, transportation
and other benefits. Your love for our brothers and sisters
in need as well as your gracious contributions are deeply
appreciated.

su excelente apoyo con la Despensa de Alimentos. Debido a
sus esfuerzos, de julio del 2014 a junio del 2015, la
Despensa de Alimentos pudo distribuir 102,940 libras de

WHO ARE THE SECULAR FRANCISCANS?
Secular Franciscans are people motivated by the dynamic power of the Gospel. This intimate union with
Christ lies at the heart of the OFS vocation. Therefore, Secular Franciscans seek to encounter the living and
active person of Christ in their brothers and sisters, in Sacred Scripture, in the Church and in liturgical
activity. We do this by studying, loving and most of all by living in an integrated way, the human and
evangelical aspects of life.
As modern Secular Franciscans, we live out the secular aspect by paying attention to three things:
 First, we draw on the experiences of Franciscan figures of the past—men and women who were both
contemplative and dedicated to many activities.
 Secondly, we face tests of our creativity when confronted by the new evangelism.
 Thirdly, we nurture the knowledge of Francis, an example from the past who leads us into the future. COME AND SEE!
