GOD’S PLAN
EL PLAN DE DIOS
Saint Peter speaks to us twice today. In the
first reading, we hear an excerpt from his sermon on Pentecost; in the second, part of his
first letter. Once a frightened, uneducated fisherman who often said just the wrong thing,
now Peter is speaking what he knows to be
true. Everything Jesus had said now makes
sense. His death and rising were all part of
God’s plan, and our faith and hope can be centered on
God.
Hoy san Pedro nos habla dos veces. En la
primera lectura, escuchamos un pasaje de su
sermón en Pentecostés; en la segunda, parte
de su primera carta. Antes, un aterrorizado
pescador con poca educación quien a menudo
decía lo equivocado, el Pedro de ahora habla
sobre la verdad que conoce. Todo lo que Jesús
había dicho ahora tiene sentido. Su muerte y
resurrección eran parte del plan de Dios, y nuestra fe y
esperanza pueden centrarse en Dios.
Today’s Gospel tells the story of Jesus’ walk to Emmaus
with two of the disciples. Frightened, sad, and confused,
the two of them don’t recognize Jesus, who tells them
what we heard Peter say above: All this had to happen
as part of God’s plan. In the end, these disciples recognize Jesus as we are to recognize him—in the breaking
of the bread.
El Evangelio de hoy describe el relato del camino a
Emaús en el que Jesús se une a dos discípulos. Atemorizados, tristes y confundidos aquellos dos no reconocen a
Jesús, quien les dice lo que escuchamos a Pedro decir
arriba: todo esto tuvo que suceder como parte del plan
de Dios. Al final, estos discípulos reconocen a Jesús así
como nosotros debemos reconocerle –al partir el pan.

Baptism Classes Coming Soon!
Attendance at a baptism preparation series is required
before baptizing your child. The next series is scheduled
for the following evenings in January from 6:00 PM to
8:00 PM:

Thursday, June 2nd,

If you would like to have your child baptized during June, July,
August or September and have not attended a series, plan on
attending the sessions listed above. (Baptisms are not celebrated during Advent or Lent.) The next series will be offered

Si usted desea que su niño/a sea bautizado durante junio,

Remember we are changing our Sunday morning Mass schedule beginning on May 26th (the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend). On that day, the 7:00, 9:00 and 11:00 AM Masses will change to 8:00 and 10:00 AM. All
other weekend Masses remain the same (Saturday 5:00 PM; Sunday 1:00 PM in Spanish and 7:00 PM).

Gastos de Mantenimiento
Special Maintenance Report
Thank you to all who were able to contribute to the
Maintenance Fund collection last weekend. These monies
help us to be able to address extraordinary maintenance
needs which are often quite costly. We, like most parishes, are not able to cover these expenses out of our
ordinary collections. Unfortunately, the result is often
that these needs get delayed in being cared for and the
parish gets far behind in the upkeep of it’s facilities resulting
in major costs later on. Your support of this fund is helping us
“catch up” as well as “keep up” with the care of our facilities.
Last quarter (January – March), we received $2,750 towards
this fund. In addition, we received a reimbursement from our
insurance ($1,547) for the repairs needed after the freeze
damage to some of our pipes. This brought the total for this
fund for the year-to-date to $11,131. However, our expenses
to date exceed the income received, so we are relying on this
next quarter’s contributions to help balance out this budget
item.

Muchas gracias a todos los que el pasado fin de semana, pudieron contribuir a la colecta del Fondo de Mantenimiento. Estos fondos nos ayudan a abordar las necesidades extraordinarias de mantenimiento que a menudo resultan muy costosas. Nosotros, como todas las
parroquias, no podemos cubrir estos gastos con las colectas regulares. Desafortunadamente, esto a menudo
resulta en que postergamos el solucionar dichas necesidades
