Child Home Program
According to their teachers, half
of Washington’s children are not
ready to succeed when they enter
kindergarten. The number of those
unprepared rises to as many as 3 in
4 among low-income kids, children of
color, and those with limited English
proficiency; in language and learning
skills these children can be as much
as two years behind. The Parent-Child
Home Program (PCHP) gives vulnerable children a substantially better
opportunity for school success by
engaging families when and where it
counts most — in their homes and at
the ages of 2 and 3 years old during
a key period of social, emotional and
cognitive development.

as gifts. Over the course of the experience, parents gain new skills and confidence in nurturing
their children and become lifelong advocates
for their children’s education. Families also
then become better connected to other community resources and opportunities.
The Parent-Child Home Program has a long
and successful history elsewhere in the United
States, and was brought to Seattle in 2005 by
the Business Partnership for Early Learning,
a group of area business leaders. The strong
success of their 5-year project led United
Way of King County to take on the program’s
expansion with the goal of bringing it to every
family in King County who wants to participate
and can benefit.

Child Care Aware of King County
En este programa, una persona capacitada

Child Care Resources gives every child a great start by advocating for and working
directly with families, caregivers and child care providers to improve the quality of
child care and early learning experiences. CCR offers personalized guidance and
referrals in several languages to families of all incomes; supports informal
caregivers; and provides professional development and free or low cost resources
for providers. CCR reaches more than 2,000 providers and fields approximately
12,000 calls from families annually.
Child Care Resources le da la oportunidad a cada niño de tener un gran comienzo
defendiendo y trabajando directamente con las familias, cuidadores y proveedores
para mejorar la calidad del cuidado de niños y experiencias de aprendizaje temprano.
CCR ofrece orientación personalizada y referencias en varios idiomas a familias de
