Fifth Sunday of easter
A note of thanks
Dear Monsignor McNamee,
On behalf of the thousands of family members served by Atlanta Habitat for
Humanity, I would like to offer my sincere thanks for Cathedral of Christ the
King’s recent house sponsorship gift. Your generous donation supports the
construction of an affordable, quality, energy-efficient home through the
Cathedral of Christ the King build. Our goal in 2014 is to build 40 new homes
for qualified, working families. In addition, we plan to deliver over 100
comprehensive homeowner education classes focused on financial literacy and
home maintenance.

A Senior Moment
On Sunday, May 4 Christ the King Seniors
graduating from a number of Atlanta area
schools were joined by their families,
Msgr. Frank, and the CTK Youth Ministry
Team to celebrate their achievements.
Over 100 people came out to share a meal,
CTK memories, and celebrate the futures
of the class of 2014. Please pray for all of
our seniors as they carry their faith and
education into their futures!

On behalf of the whole Christ the King community, I would like to thank
Kathy Kehner for her service as Confirmation Coordinator these past three
years. Her dedication to the Confirmation candidates and their families and
her commitment and enthusiasm has transformed how we celebrate the
Sacrament of Confirmation in this parish. Kathy’s way of sharing her
knowledge of the Sacrament of Confirmation and her deep faith has touched
many lives here and for that I am truly thankful. Please join me in wishing
her farewell and please join me in prayer for her and her family as she begins
this new chapter in her life.

YOUR CATHEDRAL
PARISH FAMILY
YOUR LEGACY
In our earliest years, visionary
parishioners utilized planned giving
as a way to fulfill their hopes and
dreams for the Cathedral. For
example, one of our founding
parishioners established a charitable
trust in her will, naming the
Cathedral as beneficiary. The gift was
small at first but has grown
significantly over the decades
continuing to bless the Cathedral day
after day.
We invite you to consider a planned
gift to our Cathedral Fund as your
long term legacy. Your gift will help
support special projects and ministry
needs beyond our annual operating
expenses. A simple provision in your
will or a designation from a
retirement plan can create your
future gift .You can designate a
particular project or ministry or your
funds can be used for the general
needs of the Cathedral.
We are ready to work with you and
your advisors to develop a gift plan
that best suits your goals and
objectives.
For a private discussion of planned
giving opportunities, please contact
The Cathedral Fund Advisory Board
member Ham Smith, 404-261-6189
or Sharon Connelly, 404-267-3680,

great volunteers, but our caseload has
picked up significantly and we need
more volunteers to continue doing the

their needs and how we might be
able to help or direct them to
others for help.
 Check writer-assist with check
writing. Can be done from home.
Proficiency with Quicken is
necessary.

PRAYING PACEM IN
TERRIS: Finally, we are
confronted in this
modern age with a form
of society which is
evolving on entirely new
social and political lines. Since all
peoples have either attained political
independence or are on the way to
attaining it, soon no nation will rule
over another and none will be subject
to an alien power.
Thus all over the world men are either
the citizens of an independent State,
or are shortly to become so; nor is any
nation nowadays content to submit to
foreign domination. The longstanding
inferiority complex of certain classes
because of their economic and social
status, sex, or position in the State,
and the corresponding superiority
complex of other classes, is rapidly
becoming a thing of the past. (42-43)

WELCOME FROM THE PASTOR AND
CATHEDRAL STAFF
Dear Friends in Christ,
On behalf of Archbishop Wilton Gregory, the Clergy and
staff, I welcome you to the Cathedral of Christ the King. I
hope and pray that you feel welcomed by our parish
community and that your spiritual and pastoral needs will
be met.
We are a very active parish with 5,500 families and over one
hundred ministries. We encourage our members to share
their gifts of time, talent and treasure.
Our mission statement is to “Know, Love and Serve as Jesus
Did”. This is the mission of each disciple of Christ and, if
you are new, I hope and pray that you will join us and be
part of the community of Christ the King. If you are passing
through or visiting the city of Atlanta, I hope you enjoy your
worship experience and please visit us again.
If you would like to know more about our parish, you can
visit our website at www.cathedralofchristtheking.org or
email us.
May we, this day and all the days of our lives, know, love
and serve as Jesus did.
Prayers and Blessings,
Msgr. Frank McNamee, Rector
