Horizons is an ongoing formation program for perpetually professed brothers and sisters in an effort to
deepen and broaden the identity of the young adult Marianist religious as committed, global
missionaries of Mary. The Horizons program is used to complement what is done at the levels of local
and zonal conferences.

JACK VENTURA, Executive Director, International Center for Marianist
Formation: I was born in New York City and became familiar with the Marianists from
a vocation advertisement in a vocation book. I entered the Society of Mary in 1982 after
obtaining my MBA in Management Information Systems. After working for several
years for IBM and United States Tobacco, I professed first vows in 1985 in Baltimore,
MD. During my years in the Marianist Family, I have had various ministries: Vocation
Director, Formation ministry, Executive Director for the Marianist Center for Spirituality
and Communities, Assistant in the Office of Religious Life and a member of the
Provincial Council. For the past 4 years, I have been the Executive Director for the
International Center for Marianist Formation (General Administration) and the Associate Director for the
Office of Formation for Mission (Province of the US). My studies in Pastoral Ministry (Formation of
Small Christian Communities) and Theology (Spiritual Direction) have helped me in this various
ministries. I presently live at the Marianist Community in Philadelphia, PA.
PABLO RAMBAUD CABELLO: Estudié 12 años en el colegio de los marianistas en el
que ahora trabajo. Profesé en 1988. Estudié Ingeniero Forestal; he trabajado varios años
en colegios, como profesor de religión y en el área de ciencias. Fui ordenado sacerdote en
1998. Después seguí trabajando como profesor y responsable de pastoral (campus
ministry). De 2004 a 2013 he estado en la fundación en Davao (Filipinas). En estos
últimos años he vuelto a trabajar al mismo colegio.

THOMAS OLDENSKI: I professed first vows as a Marianist on August 22,
1966. I began my ministry as a cook and began teaching in1969. Since that
time, I spent 21 years teaching and was a guidance counselor and principal in
Marianist secondary schools (USA, Nigeria, Ireland). In 1994 I began my
career as a professor at the University of Dayton in education. Besides
teaching at University of Dayton, since 2000 I have been involved with
administering (2000-2005) and teaching in the University of Dayton
Bangalore, India program, also teaching aspirants, novices and scholastics.
Since 2005, I have been and continue to be a visiting professor in the Faulty of Education at Assumption
University (Brothers of St Gabriel), Bangkok, Thailand. I have done workshops for teachers, school
administrators and professors in India, Thailand, Vietnam, Ireland and the USA. I have given retreats and
presentations to Marainists in USA, Korea, Ireland and India.
ERIK ODHIAMBO OTIENDE: I came to know the Marianists when I had travelled to Nairobi for a
youth program. While at St. Gabriel’s Minor Seminary in Kisumu, I was a member of
Young Christian Students (YCS), and one year as a representative of the Arch diocese
of Kisumu. I attended a YCS Youth Challenge Week in Nairobi. The Marianist novices
were among the organizers of that program. I loved the fact that the Marianists were
dedicated to working with the youth, that they lived in community as equals, and
especially that they had a special dedication to our Blessed Mother. I joined the Society
in 1996 and made my first vows in 2000. Since 2003, I have been in active ministry
and I have taught at our School – Matero Boys’ Secondary School – in Zambia, I also
worked as a vocation director in Zambia. Currently I am in the formation walking with
and accompanying our scholastics, I also help in the regional council as assistant for Education.
NICOLE TRAHAN, FMI: I was born and grew up in a small city in Texas. I was a teacher at an SM
high school when I met the Marianists. I entered the FMI in 2005 and I professed first
vows in June 2008 in San Antonio, Texas. Since then I have lived in Dayton, Ohio
where I professed perpetual vows in August 2013. I served as a campus minister at the
University of Dayton for three years and taught at Chaminade Julienne Catholic High
School for 4 years. Currently, I am a campus minister at Chaminade Julienne, I serve
as the National Director of Vocations for the US Province, and as Director of the PreNovitiate Program. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, reading, singing and spending
time with friends and family.

OSCAR SALAZAR ESTUPIÑÁN: Oscar Salazar Estupiñán, soy el hijo mayor de tres
hermanos. Realice los estudios de bachillerato un colegio animado por los marianistas, y
luego de terminado los estudios ingrese a la comunidad a la edad de 19 años, hice los
primeros votos en el año de 2006, y durante el tiempo de juniorado estudié trabajo social,
después tuve la oportunidad de trabajar en el Colegio Marianista como docente durante
dos años, para el 2013 realicé la consagración con los votos perpetuos. Después, inicié
estudios de filosofía y pastoral. Actualmente me encuentro en el seminario Chaminade. Religioso
marianista, colombiano con 29 años.
JOSÉ LUIS MORALES GRISALES: Nací en la ciudad de Bogotá, capital de Colombia, de una
familia humilde con otros cinco hijos, crecimos en la ciudad, y al terminar los estudios del
colegio, conocí por casualidad a algunos marianistas que vivían cerca de una de mis
hermanas; ella me los presentó y allí inicio todo... Decía entonces que somos seis
hermanos: Angélica, Diana, los gemelos William y mi persona, los mellizos David y
Marta. Somos una familia unida y aunque hoy en día todos tenemos diferentes
responsabilidades y vivimos lejos uno de otro, mantenemos comunicados. Ya desde hace
algunos años me dedico a la enseñanza en colegios de religión, pero dedico tiempo para
otras actividades pastorales con jóvenes y niños, además con los más pequeños jugamos ajedrez.
LUIS ALFONSO RENTERÍA: soy Luis Rentería, nací en la región selvática y
lluviosa de Colombia llamada Chocó. Tengo 32 años, de los cuales 15 los he
consagrado al Señor en la Compañía de María. Desde muy pequeño he sentido la
inquietud por servir a mi gente y al Señor en lo que haga. Tomé la decisión de hacerme
marianista al ver a hombres que, no teniendo ningún vínculo con mi gente, lo daba
todo, y me dije que quería ser como ellos y servir a los demás sin nada a cambio.

KEVIN ULRICH NGANGA LONGUI: Je suis de Nationalité congolaise. Je suis 9eme
né d'une famille de 10 enfants dont 7 garçons et 2 filles. Je suis né le 22 Avril 1981
à Kinkala dans la région du Pool de la république du Congo et y ai fait mes études
primaires avant de continuer le Collège et Lycée à Brazzaville; je suis religieux
Marianiste depuis le jour de ma profession le 27 Juin 2009; et ce 30 Décembre 2015, je
vais faire ma Profession définitive dans la Société de Marie à Abidjan en Cote d'ivoire, à
l'occasion du Charisme V dont je suis participant.

FERNAND ANTHELM BATSIMBA MOUNOKI: je suis Fernand BATSIMBA, né le
12 février 1974 à Brazzaville, religieux marianiste depuis le 27 juin 1999. Après une
formation religieuse et professionnelle, je suis nommé directeur du centre de santé,
directeur de communauté et maintenant économe du secteur Congo.
ANACLET MUKANZA PENGELE: Je suis né en République Démocratique du
Congo (RDC) dans la ville de Kikwit, diocèse de Kikwit (Paroisse Saint Pierre). Je
suis quatrième enfant dans une famille chrétienne de 10 enfants : 3 Filles et 4
Garçons, de papa MUKANZA Julien et de maman WIZI Marie-Célestine. J’ai
entreprit mes études primaires et secondaires toujours à Kikwit, et je suis rentre en
formation au postulat Marianiste de Kinshasa/R.D.C. de 2003-2004. Après quoi, je
suis entré au noviciat d’Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire) de 2004 à 2006. J’ai fait ma première
profession le 17/06/2006 et la profession perpétuelle le 30/12/2015 à Abidjan / Côte
d’Ivoire. Concernant les études supérieures, j’ai étudié les Sciences Religieuses
pendant 2 ans en Côte d’Ivoire, et fais une maitrise en Gestion Administrative des
Institutions Scolaires et Formation à Kinshasa (R.D.C.). Je suis actuellement Secrétaire Général
Administratif dans notre Institut Supérieur d’Informatique Chaminade à Kinshasa /R.D.C.

KOUAMI WOLFGANG ADELA: ADELA Kouami Wolfang est né le 02
novembre 1974 à Treichville-Abidjan Côte d'Ivoire. Je suis de la nationalité
togolaise et j'appartiens à l'unité marianiste du district de Côte d'Ivoire. J’ai fait ma
première profession religieuse le 17 juin 2006 et ma profession perpétuelle le 11
mai 2013. Présentement je suis en mission au Collège Notre Dame d'Afrique
de Biétry où je suis l'aumônier (Responsable chargé de la pastorale) du Collège et
l'adjoint au responsable du pré-noviciat. Je suis également chargé d'assister
le responsable de la pastorale des vocations marianistes en Côte d'Ivoire.
N'DRI AKA FERDINAN: Je suis FERDINAN N'DRI AKA né le 11-12-1971 de père feu AMEYA
AKA et de mère BROU MESSOU. Je suis originaire de l'Est du pays et du grand
groupe akan. Je suis le quatrième et cadet des enfants de ma mère et le quatrième
enfant de mon père. J’ai trois grands frères, un petit frère et une petite soeur. Je suis
en master II Espagnol après le BTS en communication et le DEUG II en sciences de
l'éducation. Je viens d'être nommé administrateur d'un des plus vieux collèges
catholiques du pays. J'ai fait la première profession religieuse le 30 juin 2007 et la
profession définitive le 22 février 2014. Je suis revenu à la communauté du collège
Notre Dame d'Afrique de biétry depuis bientôt trois années. Je suis à ma cinquième
année dans l'enseignement..

THOMAS NJARI: My name is Thomas Maina Njari. I was born 1973 and I
am the first born in the family of ten. We are five boys and three Girls. Both of
my parents are alive. My mother Lucy Wanjiru is a house wife and my Dad
Francis Njari is an electrical contractor. I attended primary school from 1979 to

1988, Secondary school 1989 to 1992. For four years, I was in MURANGA COLLEGE OF
TECHNOLOGY where I did electrical installation craft. From 1997 to 2000 I was in Kenya polytechnic
where earned diploma and higher diploma in electrical and electronic. I joined Marianist 2001 and
professed my first vows 2004. I made my perpetual l vows on 8th of December 2012. My parents are
devoted Catholics.
KONDWANI KENNETH NALIVATA: I am Kondwani Nalivata born 1978 29 November. We are six
in our family and I am the third born. Baptized and confirmed, joined Marianist in
2001 after my high school at Pius XII Minor Seminary. After novitiate, I made my
first vows in 2004 then went to study Mechanical Engineering and after completing
my studies, I was sent to Mombasa to minister at Marianist Development Project
where I still am. I am happy with my ministry at MDP and with my brothers in the
community. I love community life, especially in the way we interact with each other
and share the daily activities and the laughters. I like playing football with the
students at MDP, I like watching football especially English Premier league. I also
play volleyball, and listen to music during my free times. I am an admirer of Venerable Faustino’s life
mainly his motto, " May be God will speak to me."

BORJA VICHÉ CLAVEL: Tengo 33 años. Nací en Valencia. Mis padres eran
profesores del colegio Marianista. Llevo la vocación desde el seno materno. He
estudiado Química, Bioquímica, Inglés y Ciencias Religiosas. He vivido en Valencia,
San Sebastián, Logroño y Zaragoza. Ahora en Zaragoza soy profesor de Matemáticas,
Biología y Geología y Religión. Soy tutor de 1º de Secundaria. Y soy entrenador de
Fútbol Sala y Atletismo. Me gusta el deporte y la montaña. Soy coordinador de los
Grupos de Fe, que en el Bajo Aragón, mi actual colegio, se llaman “Caminantes” y
catequista de confimación. Paso mucho tiempo con los novicios que viven en la
misma vivienda que yo y procuro alegrar su vocación. Me gusta mucho leer, investigar y vivir nuevas
experiencias. Me encanta la educación y disfruto en el aula y de la vida de comunidad con mis hermanos.
Es la presencia de Dios en mi vida, en la oración y en el día a día, lo que me llena de vitalidad y hace que
todo cobre sentido.
GONZALO TORRES-QUEVEDO GARCÍA de QUESADA: Soy de Madrid y tengo
38 años. Estudié en un colegio marianista, donde participé del grupo scout, como niño y
como monitor. He concluido la carrera de ingeniería de Minas, habiendo trabajado 3
años en una oficina de proyectos. Al salir del colegio entré en la Comunidad de San
Egidio, a la que pertenecí 4 años. Posteriormente entré en las CLM y a los 29 años fui al
noviciado. Después de la primera profesión, en 2008, realicé estudios de Ciencias
Religiosas y un post-grado en didáctica en educación secundaria. Mientras realizaba
estos estudios, impartí clases de matemáticas en nuestro colegio de Valencia, España.
Posteriormente viví 4 años en Brasil, donde trabajé en un proyecto socioeducativo en un favela de Bauru
(São Paulo). También participé de una CLM como un miembro más. Actualmente vivo en Zaragoza y
doy clases de Ciencias, Matemáticas y Religión en educación secundaria. También acompaño al grupo
scout y asesoro una CLM

BRITTO MURMU: I am from the state of Bihar in northern India. I have two
brothers and one sister, and both of my parents are deceased. I joined the Marianists
as an aspirant at Deepahalli, Bangalore, India, in 2000. Then I went to Nirmal Deep,
the novitiate, in Ranchi, Jharkhand, in the north, and professed my first vows on May
1, 2003. For my ministry year, I was appointed to Asha Deep Community in Binda,
Jharkhand, and taught in the Marianist Primary School there. Then I returned to
Deepahalli for two years scholasticate formation and taking courses in the University
of Dayton BA philosophy program there. I was then assigned to work in REDS at Deepahalli and to live
in the St Joseph Community there, while I was studying for a Technical Diploma. After this, I was
appointed to be in charge of the Deepahalli Compound for five years, and during this time, I also took
courses to complete my BA in philosophy and did so in 2014. I professed my final vows in 2009. I
recently completed in March, 2016, a Theology Diploma for religious at Carmelaran (Sanyasa) in
Bangalore. I am presently waiting to receive my next assignment.
ANTONY NESAM: I come from the southern part of India, from the state of Tamil Nadu; my village is
near to the temple city called Madurai. My parents are alive and I have one
brother and one sister and both are married.
I joined the Marianists as an aspirant in 1999, before that time I have
graduated with a Bachelor degree in Economics. I have worked as a social
worker and an educator in the Society of Mary. I made my novitiate at
Nirmal Deep in Ranchi, and professed my first vows on May 1, 2002. In
2006, I moved to Gyan Deep in Ranchi, to work with the REDS programs there. I worked as a play
teacher for two years at the centre, called Hatma near to VIP houses in Ranchi. I professed my perpetual
vows on December 8, 2007, at Deepahalli in Bangalore. I received my Master’s degree of Social Work in
Bangalore at St. Joseph’s College. Presently I am working with solid waste management project which
is run by REDS Bangalore, which could help many parents of the children in the slums in Bangalore. My
motto is, “To do whatever he tells you.” And currently I am also studying part time for a MPHIL in
social work.

SAVIO CHOI: I joined the Marianist in 2002. Now I am studying theology in
Rome.
SIMON CHOI: I arrived in Karonga community November 2015. I am
here because Karonga community did not have a priest since several
years, so I was volunteered. Before I came here around 1 year, I studied
English in Dayton I.E.P. program and I stayed in Stonemill Community.
In Korea, I was vocation director for 3 years. After ordination of priest I
was 2 years in Parish assistance.

NEREO RAMÍREZ HERNÁNDEZ: Soy Nereo Ramírez Hernández, nací en el
estado de San Luis Potosí, en una modesta familia. Conocí a los marianistas a través
del hno. Lorenzo Mcbride, SM., actualmente colaboro en la promoción vocacional del
Sector de México.
JOSÉ JESÚS RUÍZ SANTILLÁN: Pertenezco a una familia sencilla, cristiana, mi
padre y mi madre y cuatro hermanas. Yo soy el mayor y el único varón. Mi primera
formación religiosa la recibí de mi madre y luego mis catequistas desde mi niñez hasta el
día de hoy he contado con la gracia de que María me acompañe. De niño, adolecente y
parte de mi adultez trabajé en algunos grupos parroquiales como "Legión de María",
Camino Neocatecumenal y un coro. En 1982 fui misionero en Sudamérica. Ya en edad
tardía sentí con fuerza el llamado a la vida religiosa y le di mi respuesta a Jesús
corriendo el riesgo de no ser aceptado por mi edad, pero la Compañía de María fue generosa conmigo y
ahora puedo decir con mucha fuerza que soy un religioso feliz siempre con la esperanza de aprender más
y estar abierto a cualquier servicio que se me pida.

JOACHIM AGBETOGON: Je suis Frère Joachim Koffi AGBETOGON, religieux
Marianiste Région Togo. Je suis né Togo et j'y ai fais mes études primaire et secondaire.
J'ai embrassé la formation en menuiserie ébénisterie. J'ai fait la connaissance des religieux
marianistes en 1997. En 2002 je fus admis au Prénoviciat NDO de Kara-TOGO et au
Noviciat à Abidjan. J'ai fais ma première profession religieuse en Juin 2005 et la
profession perpétuelle 20 octobre 2012. J'ai fais un perfectionnement en métier de bois, et
l'obtenu d'un Certificat d'Aptitude Pédagogique dans l'enseignement en métier de bois. J'ai
fais mission à Natitingou au Bénin et je suis présentement en mission au Collège Chaminade de Kara.
J'aime la musique.
KODJO FRÉDÉRIC BINI: Je suis né le 03 aout 1971 à Zogbégan dans la
préfecture de WAWA, au sud Ouest du Togo. Je suis rentré au pré noviciat de Kara
le 26 septembre 1997. Je fis ma première profession le 24 juin 2000 à Abidjan/RCI.
En 2004 j'ai fais une maîtrise en philosophie (option politique) à l'UCAO
(Université Catholique de l'Afrique de l'Ouest) à Abidjan/RCI. J'ai prononcé ma
profession perpétuelle le 10 juin 2006 à Kara En Décembre 2011, j'ai soutenu un
mémoire de DEA à l'Université de Lomé/Togo. De 2004 à nos jours je suis dans la
communauté Bienheureux Chaminade de Kara. Directeur de la communauté de
2005-2012. Directeur du collège Chaminade depuis 2007.

BRANDON ALANA-MAUGAOTEGA: Brandon is a native of Hawaii and the son of
Samoan and Hawaiian ancestries. He came to know the Marianists as an undergraduate
of Chaminade University of Honolulu. After receiving his Bachelor's degree in Religious
Studies, he entered the Society of Mary, professing first vows in Dayton, Ohio in 2009.
After spending some time ministering in Dayton and San Antonio, Texas, Brandon
currently serves as campus minister at Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii.

THOMAS FARNSWORTH: Born in 1965. Earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychogy
(Psy.D.) in 2002. Grew up and lived in San Francisco Bay Area of California until joining
the SM as an aspirant in 2005. First Vows in 2008 and Final Vows in 2012. Currently
teaching full time in The University of Dayton's Psychology Department. Spent Summer
of 2014 in India teaching our scholastics.
ANDREW JOSEPH KOSMOWSKI: I professed my first vows in 2006 and my final
vows in 2010. Currently, I am serving the Marian Library in Dayton, USA. I am active
with Scouts in the Dayton area. Before that, I served at schools in Saint Louis, USA and
San Juan, Puerto Rico. I am originally from a town near Buffalo, USA. Prometí mis
votos primeros en 2006 y votos perpetuos en 2010. Soy bibliotecario a la Biblioteca
Mariana en Dayton, Estados Unidos. Soy voluntario con los Scouts cerca de Dayton.

llaman Rosario Gualoto y mi papá, que falleció en el 2010, se llamaba Andrés
Guananga. Soy de una familia comerciante y terminé mis estudios en un Instituto
"Juan Montalvo" estatal como "Profesora de primaria".

MINI CHITTILAPPILLY JOSEPH: I was born in India, Kerala on 13th May
1979. I joined the Marianist congregation in 18 May 2005. I took my first vows
on 14th Oct 2006 and final vows on 18th Dec 2011 in India. I finished my BA
(Bachelors of Arts) course in Ranchi.
USHA THOMAS VICHATT: I am Sr. Usha Thomas Vichatt FMI. I am an Indian. I
was born in Kerala. During my studies Ii was helping the formation. Now I continue
the mission of Formation.

TAEYEONG KIM: I entered our congregation in 1997. I made first vow in 2000,
and I had worked at parishes for five years. I made perpetual vow in 2006, and I had
studied theology in Seminary for four years. After that I worked for vocation
ministry, and now I am working as a team of retreat.

GISÈLE TCHILALO AGNIBA: Je suis Sr Gisèle AGNIBA née dans un petit village
au environ de Kara. Après mes études du Primaire, je suis entrée au collège Adèle en
1993 puis au collège Chaminade de Kara en 1997 d'où je suis sortie en 2001 nantie d'un
baccalauréat série D. En Octobre 2001 , j'ai commencé ma formation à la vie religieuse
chez les sœurs marianistes et professée mon premier engagement le 20 Novembre
2004.Après une courte expérience de vie apostolique dans la communauté de Tchébébé,
j'ai entrepris les études universitaires en faculté des sciences économiques et de gestion
à l'université de Kara de 2006 à 2009. Après une année de participation à la mission
éducative de la communauté, je part à Abidjan en côte d'Ivoire pour une année d'étude
en théologie spirituelle où je me prépare aux vœux perpétuels que j'ai prononcé le 24 septembre 2011à
Kara.Je rejoins alors la communauté de Tchébébé où j'ai passée 4ans comme directrice d'un complexe
CEG / LYCEE. Nommée économe régionale en septembre 2014, et vu la difficulté à assumer les deux
responsabilités, je suis appelée à quitter la direction pour me consacrer à la mission d'économat de la
Région d'Afrique et de ma nouvelle communauté Mère Adèle de Kara que j'ai rejoint le 26 Septembre
2015. Ma plus grande joie est celle de me savoir au service de Dieu partout et avec le soutien de Marie
ma mère.
PRUDENCE MAGNODÉWA ADOKI: Je suis une religieuse dans la congrégation
des filles de Marie Immaculée Marianiste depuis le 05 novembre 2005. j'ai fais ma
profession perpétuelle le 7 septembre 2013 à kara au Togo 0 Après mes premiers voeux
en 2005 j'ai donné les cours de SVT, puis dessin et sport dans notre collège nommé
Adèle durant 2 ans, ensuite je fus envoyée aux études à lomé toujours au Togo pour
l'option Assistante de gestion des petites et moyennes entreprises, après mes études
sanctionnées d'un diplôme de Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (BTS) en 2010 je suis
revenue dans notre collège à kara pour donner les cours d'informatique de Septembre

A la rentrée de septembre 2015 , je suis à la librairie du collège où je vends les articles.
Au dela de cette tâche je donne les cours de formation humaine et religieuse et de
dessin dans les classes de 6ième et 5ième. Je pense avoir dit l'essentiel. Merci

MARIE JOELLE BEC: Soeur Marie Joëlle Bec a célébré en octobre 2015
ses cinquante ans de vie religieuse. Elle fut chargée en 1985 d'établir l'index
des Lettres d'Adèle, ce qui lui donna une grande familiarité avec la spiritualité
de notre fondatrice ; elle a assumé de nombreuses missions de formation au
charisme marianiste et à la vie religieuse. Supérieure générale de 2002 à 2012,
elle est aujourd'hui supérieure de la communauté de Béthanie, à Sucy-en-Brie,
et maîtresse de juniorat.
GERMAN CONTRERAS SERRANO: Mi nombre es Germán Contreras, tengo 41 años, estoy casado
y tengo tres hijos de 11, 9 y 6 años. Desde siempre he tenido una estrecha
vinculación con la familia marianista, pues mi padre fue educado en los marianistas
en Cádiz, y mis tres hermanos y yo estudiamos en el Colegio de Nuestra Señora del
Pilar en Madrid. Soy Licenciado en Ciencias Económicas y MBA por el Instituto de
Empresa. Después de quince años trabajando en una empresa multinacional de
alimentación, en 2011 decidí cambiar de sector y empecé a trabajar para la Iglesia, y en concreto en el
ámbito de la Justicia Social con los empobrecidos. Durante 4 años fui Director de una ONG de la Orden
de Agustinos Recoletos, y desde diciembre de 2014 soy el responsable de la ONG De la Familia
Marianista en España, la Fundación Acción Marianista para el Desarrollo.
MANUEL CORTÉS SORIANO: Nací en Valencia (España) el 29 de julio de 1945. Estudié en el
colegio marianista de esta ciudad. Ya religioso marianista, obtuve la licenciatura en
Física en la universidad de Valencia. Hice mi seminario en Friburgo, donde obtuve la
licenciatura en Teología. He enseñado matemáticas, física y religión en varios colegios
marianistas, y he sido encargado de pastoral en dos de ellos. También escribí algunos
libros de texto de religión para Ediciones SM y hasta he sido párroco. Pero la mayor
parte de mi vida activa ha estado dedicada a la formación como encargado de la
formación en el Consejo Provincial de la Provincia de Zaragoza y Maestro de
novicios. También fui Provincial de la Provincia de Zaragoza (1989-1997). Desde
2006, soy Superior General.
MIGUEL ANGEL CORTÉS: Nací en Valencia en 1956, y estudié en el Colegio
Ntra. Sra. del Pilar de esa ciudad. Profesé en la Compañía de María el 12-9-1975.
Estudié Geografía e Historia en Zaragoza, y después trabajé en Almería como
profesor de religión en un Instituto, responsable del Centro de Promoción Virgen de la
Chanca, y trabajo en la catequesis de confirmación de las parroquias del barrio. Al
terminar mi estancia en el seminario de Roma fui ordenado sacerdote en 1988.
Después he trabajado como profesor y Responsable de Pastoral en Vitoria y Valencia;
también durante algún tiempo como formador. Desde septiembre de 2011, soy el
Provincial de la Provincia de España.

JOHANN EIDENBERGER: Born 1960 in Austria, Upper-Austria, near Linz (Chapter of 1981!) I have
3 siblings. I attended Marianist schools from age 10 to 18 and entered the Marianists at
the age of 20 (began novitiate).
I got two masters degrees: one in Biblical Theology, in Vienna, Austria (1987) and one
in Pastoral Theology in Toronto, Canada (1989), where I spent two years in the
Marianist Seminary. I was ordained at the age of 29.
I served in our schools in Fulda, Germany, and in Linz, Austria, in the field of teaching
and pastoral ministry for 12 years. Since 2001 I’m working in our retreat house
Greisinghof near Linz, offering biblical courses, meditation, spiritual counseling, parish
work. I also created a “biblical garden”.
There is also a little parish connected to the retreat house. I’m responsible for the MLC in the Region.
Since 2008 I’m Regional Superior of the Region Austria-Germany.
ANDRÉ CLAUDE JOSEPH FÉTIS: Je suis né en 1961, à Périgueux, troisième de 5
enfants. Ma famille s'est déplacée dans la banlieue de Paris où j'ai rencontré les
marianistes quand j'ai été élève dans notre collège d'Antony. J'ai étudié la musique, le
violon. Comme religieux, j'ai été professeur de musique, aumônier, et j'ai travaillé
dans la formation, puis 4 ans en Côte d'Ivoire, au Sanctuaire Marial d'Abidjan. Je suis
depuis 10 ans à Rome, à l'Administration générale.

MARÍA JOSÉ JAUREGUI CASTRO: Nací en San Sebastián, (España) en una familia numerosa de
siete hermanos. Cinco varones y dos mujeres. Todos nos educamos en los colegios
marianistas de las FMI y de la SM. Mis padres formaron parte del grupo de Afiliados
Marianistas de San Sebastián y tengo dos hermanos religiosos marianistas, Javier en
Cádiz y José Manuel en Cuba. Estudié Trabajo Social en Madrid y Ciencias Religiosas
en Barcelona. 3 años estuve en una zona rural del sur de España; 8 años de maestra de
novicias en Zaragoza; 15 en el colegio Adela de Trenquelleon de Barcelona; 10 como
asistente general de educación en Roma; desde 2012 estoy en el colegio SummaAldapeta de San Sebastián. En todos los lugares donde he estado desde 1974 he impartido clases de
religión. Siempre me ha gustado practicar deporte como nadar y caminar. Disfruto mucho escuchando
música.
MICHAEL OTIENO JUN OCHIENG: Am a first born in a family of three boys. Both my parents
were teachers. My father died in 1999 and my mother has been retired from teaching since 2005. I began
my vocational journey with the Marianists in the mid-90s and made my first vows in 1998. After three
years in the scholasticate, I was assigned to work at Chaminade Training Centre (a technical college in
one of the slums of Nairobi). Later on, I was assigned to work in our formation house with the aspirants.
After my perpetual vows in 2004, I moved to Rome for my seminary studies and was ordained a

Marianist priest in 2007. My first assignment as a priest was to a parish in Mombasa where I worked for
three years before being recalled back to Nairobi. Eventually I was sent back to Rome for further studies
in Canon Law. And I've been a Canon Law student since then.

BEATRICE LEBLANC: Birthplace : France (Paris). I got married in 2006. Graduated in Spanish and
Theology (Gregorian University –Rome-). Job: Spanish teacher in a Marianist school
in France (Sucy-en-Brie). Lay Marianist belonging to an MLC since 2005. France
MLC National responsible 2011-2014. MLC Europe Region Responsible for the
International Team since the International MLC meeting in Peru of January, 2014. I
love music and dancing, play guitar and sing. I am starting writing a book about
spirituality.
LAURA LEMING: I was born in Philadelphia and met the Marianists and got involved
in Marianist Ministry at the Family Retreat Center in Cape May Point NJ. After 2 years of
belonging to a Marianist Lay community in Philly, I entered the FMI in San Antonio.
Most of my ministry has been either pastoral ministry, especially at the University of
Dayton or in college teaching - sociology at UD and also in Bangalore. I have served as
novice director twice and currently am mentoring two FMI novices in San Antonio, TX.

FELIX ARQUEROS PEREZ: Born in Almeria (Spain) 51 years ago. Gloria married for
26 years. We have 2 sons and a daughter, 24,22 and 20 years. Member of the CLM for 33
years. Devoted final since 1990. I have had different missions within the CLM.
International meeting in Peru in 2014, I was entrusted with the service to be world
president of CLM, now flaunt responsibility.

Diploma in nursing, specialist in pediatrics and community health. Expert in strategic management of
health professionals have developed my career in hospitals and healthcare management. I currently work
as a nurse family for 7 years in a rural health center in an area with social transformation needs, basically
immigrant population.
BRIAN REAVEY: Brian Reavey serves the Marianist Province of the U.S. as the
Assistant for Justice, Peace & Integrity of Creation and Main Representative of Marianists
International NGO at the United Nations out of the Marianist Center in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. Brian’s mandate includes formation and education, advocacy and service,
and global outreach & partnerships. His current board service includes the Africa Faith &
Justice Network (AFJN) and the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR).
Brian is also a Lay Marianist Affiliate. In his spare time, Brian serves as Director &
Founder of Retreat to Broadway, a non-profit project pairing live theater with innovative
retreat programming for educational, professional, spiritual, and/or social groups and organizations.
DOUG ROPER: El Hermano Douglas Roper nació en St. Louis, Missouri, Estados Unidos, el 6 de
mayo de 1948. Hizo sus estudios secundarios en St. Louis. Ingresó en el Noviciado
Marianista en Wisconsin, hizo sus primeros votos el 22 de agosto de 1967 y los
definitivos el 4 de agosto de 1973. Comenzó como profesor en colegios marianistas de
Estados Unidos, al mismo tiempo siguió estudios superiores en la universidad de St.
Mary, y también estudiaba español, preparándose para su misión en el Perú. Llegó al Perú
en 1978 y enseguida fue asignado al Colegio María Reina donde estuvo como profesor
hasta el año 1982. En 1983 fue profesor, en el Colegio San Antonio. Al año siguiente fue asignado al
Colegio San José Obrero en el que, además de profesor fue asesor de la promoción, Subdirector y
Coordinador de Primaria. De 1988 a 1993 fue Superior Provincial de los Marianistas. En 1994 se dedicó
a la formación de nuevos marianistas en la Casa de Pueblo Libre, en 1996 y 1997, formó parte además
del Equipo de Pastoral del Colegio María Reina. De 1998 al 1999 volvió al San José Obrero. El año 2000
además de participar en el Equipo de Pastoral del Colegio María Reina, formó una nueva Comunidad
Marianista, “María de Nazaret”, por dos años. El año 2002 regresa a la comunidad Emaús para
encargarse de la formación de los futuros marianistas. A partir del año 2005 hizo otra experiencia muy
especial, siendo de la Comunidad Santa María. El año 2008 es asignado a la comunidad San José Obrero,
para dedicarse a la atención de las obras marianistas en Otuzco, el Hno. Douglas se reincorpora a la
comunidad San José Obrero para atender a las obras de Otuzco. Desde el año 2013 forma parte del
Consejo Regional Marianista, como Asistente de Vida Religiosa. Este año 2016 ha sido designado por la
Administración General marianista como Superior de la Región Marianista del Perú
P. IÑAKI SARASUA: Religioso marianista, sacerdote, de 51 años de edad. Nació en
Aretxabaleta, bastante cerca de Irún, siendo el primero de una familia de 6 hermanos y su
lengua materna es el euskera. Le gusta la música, la literatura, la montaña y el deporte.
Tiene estudios de magisterio, filología vasca y teología. Ha trabajado sobre todo en
colegios y parroquias, bastantes años como profesor, algunos años como párroco y otros
como responsable de pastoral. Actualmente es el asistente de pastoral de la provincia de
España.
ED VIOLETT: I am a member of the US province and was born in 1960 at Agana,
Guam. I made my novitiate in Dayton, Ohio and professed first vows on August 8, 1982. I
have been privileged to have served as a retreat director, teacher, professor administrator,
and formation director for the Society of Mary. I currently serve as the Vice President for
Academic Affairs (VPAA) of Our Lady of the Lake College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
As VPAA I am the chief academic officer for the College. My academic qualifications

include a Bachelor of Business Administration in Financial Management from St. Mary’s University
(1982); a Master’s of Science in Administration from the University of Notre Dame (1986) and a Ph.D.
from the London School of Economics in International Social Policy (2003).
FRANCA ZONTA I am italian. I began my journey in the FMI in 1975. I took my first
vows in 1978 in Rome. I worked in different ministries : education, initial formation,
Director of community... I have been appointed as Provincial Superior in 1998 till 2006. I
have been part of the first community that start the mission in India in December 2006 till
the election, as Superior General, in 2012.

ABORA BALAKIYEMA: Born from a modest family and raised by my mother and my
ante, I attended Chaminade High School in Kara (Togo) where I met the marianists
brothers from 1997 to 2000. After my A-level exam, I joined the Marianists in 2000 and
started my aspirancy program in Kara (Togo) which led me to the profession of vows three
years later.
JOSÉ RAMÓN SEBASTIÁN DE ERICE SÁNCHEZ-OCAÑA: Nacido en Bombay
(India) viví en España y en Francia antes de entrar en el noviciado. Debido, en parte, al
carácter internacional de la Compañía he residido en España, en India (7 años), en Suiza
(6 años, 4 en el Seminario, y años después como director de la residencia universitaria
Regina Mundi, y directamente con los emigrantes cerca de Berna) y 1 año en Estados
Unidos. Durante bastantes años he trabajado en educación siendo profesor y director de
enseñanza secundaria y universitaria. Actualmente colaboro en una Parroquia
Marianista y en el Colegio
RUDY VELA: Rudy Vela S.M., D.Min., is a Marianist priest with his doctorate concentration in "CrossCultural Ministries," from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, IL. He has been a
teacher, lecturer, facilitator, pastor, administrator. He has served as program director and
faculty member at the Mexican American Cultural Center in San Antonio, Texas. Dr.
Vela also holds a Masters in the Science of Administration (MSA) from University of
Notre Dame, and a Masters of Divinity from St. Michael´s College, Toronto School of
Theology, University of Toronto. He has done post-graduate studies in Missiology at the
Pontifical Gregorian University, and Liturgy at San Anselmo, the Pontifical for
Liturgical Studies in Rome, Italy. He has also been a missionary in Lima, Peru. Rudy has
also served as Spanish-English translator for several General Chapters. For six of his 15 years at St.
Mary's University he held the office of Vice President for Mission and Rector. He also was Assistant
Professor of Theology. Dr. Vela served as the Director for St. Mary’s University’s Spain Study Abroad
Program at La Universidad de Alcalá, Colegio de los Trinitarios, Instituto Universitario de Investigación
en Estudios Norteamericanos (IUIEN) were he taught during the Spring semesters of 2004, 2005 and
2009. Appointments at St. Mary's University include the Presidents Peace Commission and Strategic
Initiatives in International Education Committee , Core Curriculum Planning Committee and Strategic
Initiatives in International Education Committee. Dr. Vela has been a member of the facilitation team for
FORMISSION, a program sponsored by the National Religious Formation Conference (RFC). He has
just completed a year of Sabbatical studies, two months in Israel, participating in the CTU Biblical
Archaeology Program and a semester at GTU, New Directions Program.
