MARM
FIAB (The Spanish Federation of Food and
Beverage Industries) is an umbrella organization
of most of the food and beverage associations
and more than 8000 manufacturing companies
in Spain. Its basic function consists of informing
its members about events and developments
which are relevant to the sector. FIAB also
represents the interests of its members in
discussions with administrative and decisionmaking bodies on national, European and
international levels. Accordingly, its activities
are focused on the following areas: economy,
fiscal policy, research and development, labour
affairs, food legislation, promotion of foreign
trade, training, environment and communication.
In particular, the promotion of foreign trade is
effected through supporting Spanish companies
and their products in events like trade fairs, show
rooms, business meetings, etc. in order to build
up and enhance the Spanish image abroad.
The Ministry of the Environment and Rural and
Marine Affairs is the department in charge of
proposing and executing government policy in
terms of the struggle against climatic change
and the protection of the environment, its natural
resources and biodiversity as well as its marine
life, water resources, rural development,
agricultural resources, and the cattle, fish and
food industries.
The high quality and unique taste of Spanish
products have fostered its exports to more than
80 countries, leading in 2008, to an export value
of ¤20 billion and maintaining its positive trade
balance worldwide.
To this effect, it assumes the responsibilities
erstwhile attributed to the Ministry of
Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Ministry
of the Environment as well as the policies
developed so far by the Ministry of Public Works
with regard to marine protection.
ICEX
IVEX
ICEX (The Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade)
provides Spanish businesses with assistance
aimed at promoting and supporting their
international presence. To do this it has its own
financial, material and human resources,
operating in the following areas:
IVEX (the Valencian Worldwide Foreign Trade
Agency) is the Valencian Regional Government
body in charge of encouraging the Region’s
businesses to trade abroad and of promoting
Valencian products and companies overseas.
IVEX has an extensive network of branch offices
abroad. This network is made up of 28 offices
located in the main international markets, 15 of
which are equipped with Business Centres,
including the Czech Republic Business Centre,
located in Praga.

IVEX promotes Valencian gastronomy, an
exquisite Mediterranean experience. Among the
most creative and dynamic areas of the
Mediterranean, the Region of Valencia offers a
variety of delicatessen products and refined wines.
EXTENDA
EXTENDA is the Trade Promotion Agency of
Andalusia, Spain, a state-owned company set
up by the Regional Government of Andalusia,
whose aim is to promote and support the
internationalization process in the region's
businesses.
The Extenda Foreign Network is made up of
"Business Promotion Offices" for supporting
Andalusian companies. Extenda has its
headquarters in Andalusia, Spain, and 21 other
offices strategically situated in 19 countries.
Close to you, and at your service, we place at
your disposal our deep knowledge of Andalusia's
export offer and trade exchange with each
country to help you do business with Andalusia.
In the United States, along with the office in
Miami, a new office in New York has been
inaugurated in 2008 to have presence in the

The Council of the Chambers of Commerce,
Industry and Navigation of Andalusia represents
the 14 Chambers of Commerce of the region of
Andalusia. One of its main objectives is to
support the internationalization of Andalusian
companies through the organization of foreign
trade promotion activities, training programs

On this ocassion Extenda and Cámaras de
Andalucía will be backing 11 food companies
during Fancy Food 2009.

Generalitat de Catalunya promotes Catalan food
products and supports their international
distribution. This is why Prodeca, a company
attached to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock
and Rural Action, uses its human and financial
resources to promote the services and
technology of such companies, cooperatives,
associations and institutions which make up the
chain of production, processing and distribution
of Catalonia´s agri-food sector in domestic and
foreign markets, as well as the promotion of
food quality.
On other hand, our region offers a wide range
of high quality products including olive oil,
Manchego cheese, saffron, honey, fresh and
canned foods and vegetables, meats and meat
products like ham, etc.
To complete this task, Prodeca coordinates its
activities with other trade promotion and
internationalization agencies, joining forces and
providing efficient services to food companies.
AGRI-FOOD COOPERATIVES
ALIMENTARIA EXHIBITIONS
Agri-food cooperatives is a nationwide business
organization which represents the interests of
the 3.996 Spanish agrifood cooperatives.
Alimentaria Exhibitions, joint venture between
Reed Exhibitions and Fira de Barcelona, organize
and manage food product and technology
exhibitions. The events in the company's
portfolio are: Alimentaria, Bta (Barcelona Food
Technologies), and Barcelona Degusta (The
Food and Beverage exhibition for the Consumer)
in Barcelona; Alimentaria Lisboa in Portugal;
Alimentaria Mexico; and Alimentaria Mercosur
in Argentina.
Through 17 regional organizations it provides
services aimed at promoting a market-oriented
cooperative model.
Agri-food cooperatives mission is to maximize
the added value in a competitive and sustainable
way.
It provides a whole range of advisory services
in 14 areas ( such as rural development,
promotion, technical assistance, R+D+i, Food
Quality…), and it is structured in 18 different
sectors of livestock and arable areas( wine, olive

The Nuñez de Prado family owns around 100,000 olive trees that
are organically cultivated close to Baena (Andalucía, Spain). Since
1975, the family has produced extra virgin olive oil from Picual,
Picudo and Hojiblanca olives, the three main varieties (90%) of
the region, although there are up to 15 different types of olives in
the composition of their oils. The fruit is hand-picked directly from
the tree and is quickly transported to the Santa Lucia mill in the
center of Baena. There, the olives are stone-crushed in the traditional
manner. The olive paste then undergoes a partial extraction to
produce the "flower of the oil" by putting it into drums which slowly
revolve until gradually the free-run oil seeps out. It takes more than
11 kilos of paste to produce 1 liter of olive oil by
this method. The olive oil is then stored in underground tanks before
being bottled individually, by hand, in numbered bottles. Nuñez de
Prado C.B. has a quality control system that guarantees the full
traceability of all its products whose only ingredient is 100% organic
extra virgin olive oil.

around 44 kilometers southwest of the Spanish city of Toledo, and

Lands & Building, S. L. is the family company that owns the Finca
Valdezarza agricultural estate, which has an extension of
approximately 1500 hectares, 600 of which are used for intense
olive tree cultivation. The most representative olive varieties found

Via Avgvsta’s name refers to the Roman road built by Emperor
Augustus that from the 1st century BC united the main cities of the
Spanish Mediterranean arch, running between olive groves, vineyards

(PDO) Siurana, our olive oils come from the surrounding area of
Montsant which is a mountain range flanked by the river of the
