focused on His Mercy endures forever, in which your gifts will
benefit the Archdiocesan ministries that serve thousands and
thousands of our brothers and sisters in the Archdiocese of
Galveston-Houston. Through your generous support of DSF, we
bring Christ’s comfort and care to the many pressing needs that
cannot be addressed individually or by one parish alone.
Our parish goal for 2016 is $52,000. With every parish
family’s full participation, we will surely exceed this amount and
do our share to help so many in need, advancing the work of the
church in our community. For those of you who have already
responded with a gift, please accept our sincere gratitude.

Dear parish family,
31 Sunday C
One more week to go and finally we can have a breathe of relief from Election anxiety. It's an unusual election, like
our prolonged "Halloween." Hard choices. However the church is non partisan, never endorses a person or a party.
But as Catholics we must be guided by our conscience when we vote. Deacon Stan relayed in his homily those
guidelines two weeks ago. For details please visit "archgh.org/FaithfulCitizenship".
We need real models in life and in the way we live our faith. And in two days we'll celebrate the universal
church's "Memorial Day": “All Saints” to honor the heroes of our faith, both those officially recognized as saints by the
Church and all the unrecognized, the myriad of all our faithful departed who are now certainly in the glory with God in
heaven (Rev. 7:2-4,9-14). And that means also our deceased loved ones: our grandparents, our parents, our uncles
and aunts, our neighbors, our friends, and so forth... Thus the flipside commemoration of "All Souls" for those still in
Purgatory, their final purification towards our final destiny in heaven. Please see the schedule of Masses in this bulletin.
The Good News this Sunday is that those who desires to know better the Lord, climbing “whatever tree” in
order to have a “better view of Jesus”, and also acts to do something for the better will hear Jesus says, “ 'Today',
salvation has come to this house'.” There are moments of grace in the lives of all of us, moments we shall never regret, if only we respond trustingly and generously to the call of God.
Jesus has been telling "lost and found" parables and searching out the lost to claim them for his own. The
story of the Zacchaeus is not a parable but an example.
Today, He wants to come to the lost and confused parts of our lives. The parts we cover up and want to forget. Indeed, he wants to make a home with us in the very places we have closed up and locked away. He knocks and invites us to let him in to change what we have given up on; to bring out into the light the broken and discarded parts
that need healing and forgiveness. He wants to say to us what he said to Zacchaeus, "Today I must stay at your
house."
Although the sense of the gospel story is that Zacchaeus sought and pursued Jesus, the truth was that Jesus was seeking him. Zacchaeus responds with haste; if he had not reacted in such a prompt way, the Lord may
have moved on. We cannot afford to risk that same thing. Jesus is calling us by name every day. Are we equally prepared to respond “with haste?” Then Zacchaeus had to “receive” Jesus — that is, invite Jesus into his life. That is
exactly what each of us needs to do.
Blessings to all and have a good week!
Fr. Tony
Estimada familia parroquial,
31 Domingo C
No podemos
P. Tony

“God’s blessings to each of you for answering “His Call.”
Garland of Mercy...
In this Jubilee Year, we are asked to open
our eyes and hearts to see how God is working in our lives and to more actively spread
His mercy out to others. We are creating a
Garland of Mercy with our teen group to bear
witness to our efforts to help others.
For the entire year, we are asking each
week when you do works of mercy, to write down one or
more works on the strips of paper in the ends of the
pews. Please put them into the collection basket so that
we offer up, not just our treasure to the Lord, but our time
and talent in a visible way.
Red Strips are for The Corporal Works of Mercy:
feeding the hungry, clothing the needy, visiting the sick or
imprisoned.
White Strips are for The Spiritual Works of Mercy:
Counseling the doubtful, bearing wrongs patiently,
forgiving offences willingly and praying for the living and
the dead.
Gold Ones are for the acts of mercy which we received
from others.
I know that all of you are part of spreading God’s mercy
out into the world. Please take the time to become more
conscious of it and take credit for it here before the Lord.
Los Testigos del Poder de Dios
