Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time
November 8, 2015
The Lord keeps faith forever, secures justice for the oppressed, gives
food to the hungry.
— Psalm 146:7
Esquina del Pastor
Welcome to all!
We are reminded that if we are really baptized into
Christ, we will trust God the Father. That does mean
taking risks at time to trust God even when everyone else
says to “do your own thing” or “your body, your life”. Do
we trust God enough to do His Will? To live the life Jesus
invites us to do? How much is God worth to you? He was
nailed to the cross for you, what’s your response?
This week we remember and honor the veterans who
have defended us and kept us safe. We pray for those
still in uniform, that the Lord keep them safe. We also
pray for deceased veterans that the Lord will shower
them with mercy and peace in heaven. If you know
someone in the military or public service, thank them for
protecting and serving us!
I want to thank two of our ministry groups, Young
Adults for Christ & School of the Cross, for volunteering
their “TIME and TALENTS” a couple of weeks ago
preparing our music issue shelves, located under the
pews, to accommodate the upcoming 2016 large print
music books. This was a huge job involving the removal
of each unit, knocking out the dividers, then sanding
smooth and cleaning each unit before re-installation.
This is truly an example of Giving to God in the service
of His church.
Reflections by Fr. Carlos
Dear Brothers in Christ,
Jesus in today's Gospel shows us that he pays special
attention to the intentions of our heart. Everything
revolves around an offering. On the one hand we see
people offering large amounts of money, which is of their
abundance. On the other hand we see a poor widow give
everything she has. That makes Jesus look on her in a
special way.
Jesus does not want our "leftovers". He wants us to
give from the heart and wants us to give all. It doesn't
matter what or how much, but what matters is for it to be
that way. San Ignacio de Loyola would say a free person
is one who puts God first and gives the best of himself. A
person who only gives the "leftovers" of their life could
turn God into a "reassuring pill" of the conscience. It feels
good for a moment but nothing more. Deep down their
life could still be bound to many things that doesn't allow
them to be free. "God does not take but gives abundantly
to whom gives himself to Him", says Benedict XVI. Jesus
wants us truly free. God bless your week.
forma.
Jesús no quiere nuestra “sobras”.
semana.

Youth Ministry News
We live in a world of screens. Whether it's our
phones, tv, laptop, tablets we are constantly
surrounded by screens. We are in the age of social
media and Netflix. Most people watch tv while on
their phones or tablets and think nothing of it. The
average person spends an average of 7.4 hours per
day looking at some sort of screen whether it's work
related or not. We are surrounded by screens and
lots of people seem lost without them. So in the
midst of all of our screens where do we make time
for God? Our challenge to our teens this week was
to take time from their screens and replace it with
time in prayer. But not just sitting and praying but
being creative with their prayer. Technology can be
used to pray if done right and can be a great tool in
a persons prayer life. There are tons of apps that
are used for prayer and are very effective in growing
your prayer life. So get away from the screens or
use the screens to your advantage, make time for
God, and grow your prayer life.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
Every Friday
Friday 9 a.m. — Saturday 8:30 a.m.
Intenciones de la Semana
The Eucharist is God Himself, the very Body, Blood,
Soul, and Divinity of our Savior King. Even among
believers, some are slow to live their belief to the full.
How many more would show up at Mass next Sunday, if
we announced that the Pope would be there? How many
would take time to stop by if told that $1,000 awaited their
visit? How many would respond if some movie star or
famous athlete invited them to a banquet?
(Fr. Tom Forrest, CSSR.)
Could you spend one hour with Our Lord on Friday at
5PM? Please call Lupe 676-1159.
