Welcome! If you are a visitor to the Cathedral, we want you to know how welcome you are whether you come from another part of the country, from
across the world, or from another parish here in the Archdiocese. Thanks, in part, to the generosity of visitors like you, we are able to celebrate the liturgy
in a fitting and beautiful way, and are able to give spiritual and emotional support through a variety of services to the community. Your gift is greatly appreciated; our parish family is small and we rely on the generosity of you, our visitors, to help sustain this magnificent Cathedral church for future generations.

You are cordially invited to find out more about the

baptized,
• Being baptized yourself, (as an adult 18 and over),
• Becoming a Catholic, and you have been baptized in
another Christian tradition, e.g., Lutheran,
Episcopalian, Baptist, etc.,
• Being confirmed and making your first communion
and have not attended any catechism/Sunday school

Collection for the Archdiocese
for the Military Service
Next weekend, November 5 and 6
Next weekend our parish will take
up the Collection for the
Archdiocese for the Military
Services (AMS) The guiding
mission of the AMS is to provide
the sacraments—and the reaffirming Word of Christ—to the
men and women serving in our
armed forces, patients in VA
Medical Centers, civilians working
for the federal government beyond
U.S. borders, and the families of these populations. To
provide these services they need your help—the AMS
receives no federal funding.
Please give generously.
Hope for the Holiday Grief Seminar
A free seminar will be held at St. Mary’s Cathedral on
Saturday, November 19, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The
seminar is at the Cathedral Event Center, St. Francis
Hall (lower level), 1111 Gough St. San Francisco (at
Geary Blvd.).
Help for navigating grief for the holidays is offered,
along with instruction in Advanced Directives. Deacon
Chris Sandoval will facilitate. For further information,
call Sr. Elaine at 415-567-2020 ex. 218.
Arquidiócesis para los Servicios
Militares (AMS)
recibe fondos federales. Por favor sea generoso.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
On First Friday, November 4, 2016 the Cathedral will have
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after the 8:00 AM Mass
in the chapel (behind the sanctuary). Adoration of the
Blessed Sacrament will be in the Cathedral until closing
time at 5:00 p.m. There will not be overnight adoration
or Saturday morning Benediction.
Holy Name Society
The Holy Name Society will meet Sunday,
November 13th, following 11:00 a.m. Mass in Msgr.
Bowe room. All are invited to attend. The Holy Name
Society meets every second Sunday of the month following the 11:00 a.m. Mass in the Msgr. Bowe Room.
GOD IS WITH US
DIOS ESTA CON NOSOTROS
The book of Wisdom tells us that the spirit of God is
in all things. What a wonderful thought, and what a
wonderful image to keep in front of us as we travel
down life’s road. For if the path is revealed in the
treading, it’s good to know that God is with us—and all
around us—every step of the way.
But Paul knows that this divine presence is not
timid. Instead, God calls out to us, and Paul prays that
we, along with the Thessalonians, might be made
worthy of that call. And who knows more about God’s
call than Zacchaeus, the tax collector? Jesus called him
out of a tree, for goodness’ sake. Or perhaps more correctly, as we reflect upon the end of today’s Gospel
reading, for heaven’s sake.
cielo. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
