Week by Week through The Year of Mercy
Good Shepherd Sunday: World day of Prayer for vocations This
Sunday celebrates Jesus as “the Good Shepherd”. When announcing this Jubilee Y ear of Mercy, Pope Francis focused on Jesus’
“lost sheep” parable in Luke, “[Who] among you”, “Jesus asks,
“having a hundred sheep and losing one of them would not
leave the ninety-nine in the dessert and go after the lost
one until he finds it?” (Luke 15:4). A reasonable answer?
“NO responsible shepherd who wants to keep the job!”
Yet Jesus considers one lost person supremely important and suggests blaming the shepherd. The sheep
didn't “go astray”, the shepherd “lost” it. Thus, “when
he does find it, he sets it on his shoulders with great
joy” (15:5). That tender image of Jesus adorns the
simple cross Pope Francis has always worn, the
Good Shepherd gently carrying the lost sheep home
on his shoulders. During this Jubilee Y ear of Mercy,
may we , who once were lost ourselves but now are
found, join Jesus in seeking, finding, and gently carrying home at lease one precious lamb.

Domingo del Buen Pastor: día mundial de oración por las vocaciones
Este domingo se celebra a Jesús como "el Buen Pastor". Al dar a
conocer este A ño Jubilar de la Mercericordia, Francisco centró en parábola "oveja perdida" de Jesús en Lucas, "[que] entre vosotros", "Jesús
pregunta," que tiene cien ovejas y pierde una de ellas, no deja las noventa nueve en el desierto y va tras la que se perdió hasta que la
encuentra "(Lucas 15: 4)?. Una respuesta razonable? "NO
pastor responsable que quiere mantener el trabajo!" Sin
embargo, Jesús considera una persona perdida sumamente
importante y sugiere culpar al pastor. Las ovejas no "ir
por mal camino", el pastor "perdido" la misma. Por lo
tanto, "cuando la encuentra, la pone sobre sus hombros
con gran alegría" (15: 5). Esa imagen tierna de Jesús
adorna la sencilla cruz de Francisco siempre ha llevado,
el Buen Pastor que lleva suavemente el hogar oveja
perdida sobre sus hombros. Durante este A ño Jubilar de
la Mercericordia, que podamos, una vez que se han perdido a nosotros mismos, pero ahora se encuentran, se unen a
Jesús en buscar, encontrar, y suavemente llevar a casa al
arrendamiento de un precioso cordero.

Magnificat
Magnificat, a ministry to Catholic Women, will host its
quarterly Prayer Breakfast Featured speaker will be
Maria Echeverria who has suffered numerous and
painful ordeals in her life. Instead of blaming God
and accepting the role of victim, Maria will share how
she has chosen to survive by clinging to her faith and
living the Light of Christ.
Date: Saturday April, 30.
Place: Santa Maria Inn
Knights of Columbus
Once again, the Knights of Columbus will be hosting our annual Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday April
23rd after the 5:00 p.m. mass in the parish hall. We
will be serving spaghetti - topped off with your
choice of spaghetti sauces from three of Lompoc’s favorite restaurants: Mi Amore Pizza and Pasta, Sage Restaurant at the Village Country Club and Nikka Fish Enterprise. Adding to the
delicious spaghetti, there will be tossed salad, garlic bread and
for dessert, Spumoni ice cream! The price of the tickets is $7.00
for adults and $4.00 for youngsters ages 4 to 12 –
toddlers eat free. Tickets will be sold after all masses on the
weekends of April 2-3, April 9-10 and April 16-17. The monies
received from this fundraiser will be used
to fund our various charities. Here’s a
chance to have a great meal and support
our charitable works too!

Today is known as Good Shepherd Sunday because the Gospel on
the Forth Sunday of Easter every year portrays Jesus proclaiming
himself the Good Shepherd. It is also the World Day of Prayer for
Vocations, as we pray for all those in our midst who hear the
voice of the Good Shepherd and seek to become shepherds as
well, by God’s grace. As we gather today at God’s invitation, let
us listen for the Shepherd’s voice and pray for vocations, too.

presenta a Jesús que se autoproclama el Buen Pastor. Hoy también
es el Día Mundial de la Oración por las Vocaciones, para que oremos por todos los que entre nosotros han escuchado la voz del
Buen Pastor y desean convertirse también en pastores con la gracia de Dios. Al reunirnos hoy por invitación de Dios escuchemos
la voz del Pastor y oremos también por las vocaciones.

Caballeros de Colon
Una vez más, los Caballeros de Colón serán los anfitriónes de la
Cena de Espagueti anual el sábado 23 de de abril de después de la
misa 5:00 en el salón parroquial. Vamos a servir espagueti. Agregando a el delicioso espagueti, tambien habra ensalada, pan de ajo y
de postre, un helado Spumoni! El precio de los boletos es de $7 para
adultos y $4para los jóvenes de edades entre 4 y 12 -los niños comen gratis. Los
boletos serán vendidos después de las misas los fines de semana del 2-3 abril,
abril 9-10 y 16-17 de abril de. El dinero recibido de esta recaudación de fondos
serán utilizados para financiar nuestras diversas organizaciones benéficas. Aquí
hay una oportunidad de tener una gran comida y apoyar a nuestras obras de caridad también.
