buscar la felicidad solamente en una creatura; hizo llorar a
Pedro luego de la traición, y aseguró el Paraíso al ladrón

que el Jubileo de la Misericordia sea un año de gracia del
Señor y tu Iglesia pueda, con renovado entusiasmo, llevar la
Buena Nueva a los pobres, proclamar la libertad a los
prisioneros y oprimidos, y restituir la vista a los ciegos.
Te lo pedimos por intercesión de María, Madre de la
Misericordia, a ti que vives y reinas con el Padre y el Espíritu

is a process for people to come ask their questions and learn about
Catholicism all in the context of encountering Jesus Christ.

Labor Day Mass Schedule
Monday, September 5th, is Labor Day. In our parish there will only be
one Mass scheduled that day: 9:00 am at St. Patrick. There will be no
12:10 Mass at St. Patrick, no 5:15 pm Mass at Holy Redeemer, nor confessions heard that day. The parish office will also be closed.
‘Living Agelessly’ Group Begins September 6th!
Are you age 50 or older? Seeking to know and live God’s purpose for

Special Collection for Louisiana
The bishops of the United States have authorized a special national collection for flood relief in Louisiana. It will be taken here and at parishes
throughout the country on the weekend of September 18th. This emergency collection is intended to address both humanitarian relief and
Church needs arising from the recent floods.

This past Monday, Deacon Raymond
Lukesic underwent hip replacement surgery. I saw him and Mary Ann later
that day, and I am very happy to report
that the surgery went smoothly and the
doctors are very pleased with the result. Deacon Ray and Mary Ann are
avid cyclists, so his physical condition is
certainly in his favor. And more good
news: he says that his other leg feels
fine!

Some of you may have noticed that for
some time Deacon Ray has been favoring one leg . . . limping a bit on the altar. Only after the surgery did he tell me that by the end of the first
Mass on Sunday morning, he was experiencing discomfort . . . and if he
assisted at the second Mass, the pain picked up where it had left off at
the end of the first Mass and got worse from there. He had never mentioned that on any of those Sunday mornings – he is not a complainer!
Deacon Ray is a constant presence at the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, and
assists at the 11:00 Mass when Bishop Morlino is not with us. He also
very faithfully assists Father José Luis at weekday Masses, preaching in
English. Beyond that, Deacon Ray is “the face of the Church” to many
of our homebound parishioners, and is also the spiritual advisor to our
parish conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. During his recovery, his absence will be noticed, and he will be missed!
Despite everything that Deacon Ray has in his favor, there will be a substantial period of recovery. The doctors want to wait a couple of weeks
after the surgery to see him, and at that point they might be able to give
him a better idea of how long it will be before he can resume his regular
routine. At the moment, we are thinking that it will be at least a couple
of months before Deacon Ray is assisting at the altar.
Today seminarian Grant Thies is still at the parish, and is assisting with
Holy Communion at the Sunday morning Masses. Beginning next
week, the two men of the parish who are in formation for the diaconate
will step into that role – something they have already been doing regularly at the Sunday afternoon Mass. Chris Schmelzer is in his third year
of studies (of five), and Todd Burud in his first. When assisting at the
altar, they wear an alb, rather than cassock and surplice (as our servers
do). A deacon would likewise always wear an alb in the sanctuary,
with a “diagonal” stole and sometimes an outer garment called a dalmatic. It’s not a rule that aspiring deacons wear an alb, but I think it is a
helpful visual reminder that we are looking forward to the day that
these men will serve as deacons.
Please keep Deacon Ray in your prayers for a speedy and complete recovery . . . and maybe a little prayer for Mary Ann would be good too!

On the weekend of August 6th-7th, we had our annual Mission Co-op
Appeal. This year we were visited by a priest from Rwanda who spoke
about the work and needs of the Church in his country. The response
was outstanding — total donations on that weekend and received since

Book Study Begins September 15th

Thursday evenings in the Holy Redeemer library. The Spiritual Canticle
by St. John of the Cross, written in the 15th century Spain, explains the
nuptial love of God for every soul. Learn authentic Catholic mysticism.

 AÑO DE LA MISERICORDIA 
Afuera todo es gran agitación, ruido de vida…
Y la Vida está aquí..
Cuando las personas tienen mucho que pensar,
mucho que caminar, mucho que correr, andan
ahí, Señor, ahí afuera. Desde aquí se oye el clamor del mundo. Ruido de coches, motocicletas,
ruido de gran tráfico y ajetreo de velocidad, de
impaciencia. Hace mucho calor. Afuera todo es
gran agitación, ruido de vida y la Vida está aquí.
En esta soledad, en este silencio, en esta quietud.
La nave desierta. Mármol, vitrales, imágenes
nada tiene vida, todo es materia muerta, solo
hay algo que tiembla, que se mueve, que parpadea es la lámpara roja del Sagrario. Está señalando que, en ese silencio, en esa quietud, en esa
gran paz está Dios. Un Dios que siendo el Rey
de todo lo creado, está oculto tras unas cortinillas y una pequeña puerta.
Silenciosa y humilde espera. Entrega y sumisa esperanza de un Dios que
es todo Amor. Mansedumbre infinita, paciencia de siglos. Locura de
amor de un Dios enamorado de sus criaturas. Sólo a un Dios que muere
por amor se le podía haber ocurrido semejante entrega.
Ahí estás, Señor, encerrado en todos los Sagrarios del mundo, desde
los de oro y piedras preciosas, en las imponentes y majestuosas catedrales hasta las más humildes y simples de madera, en las iglesias perdidas
de las sierras y en las casi legendarias misiones. Ahí te quedaste, Señor,
paciente y sumiso, esperando. Porque los enamorados no pueden dejar a
quien aman y tú te ibas a la Casa del Padre Celestial, a tu verdadero
Reino con tu Madre, con los Santos, con los Ángeles y nosotros aquí, solos, tropezando, cayendo perdiendo el CAMINO, teniendo cada vez más
lejano, más borroso, el recuerdo de tu paso por la tierra.
Pero no, te quedaste aquí, dando todo por nada; esperando, siempre
esperando en tu gran locura de amor; para que sepamos que no te fuiste,
que estás aquí, para ser nuestro alimento, carne de nuestra carne, sangre
de nuestra sangre; para compartir nuestra alegría, para acompañarnos en
nuestra soledad y nuestras penas.
¡Supremo Amor de todos los amores que no pudo dejar solo al corazón del hombre porque sabía que tarde o temprano el corazón del hombre lo buscaría, lo necesitaría, lo llamaría. Y Él, sin pérdida de tiempo le
daría la respuesta de amor:
“Aquí estoy, siempre me quedé contigo...nunca me fui, siempre te
estoy esperando”

 NOTICIAS PARROQUIALES 
Peregrinación
No esperen mas, nos quedan pocos asientos, pero todavía hay algunos
para la peregrinación al Santuario de Nuestra Señora de La Salette que
es el 24 de septiembre. Salimos a las 8:30 am de la Iglesia de Holy Redeemer. La Salette en Twin Lakes es una replica del lugar de la aparición de nuestra madre santísima en Francia. También tiene hermosos
santuarios dedicados a Jesús y a nuestra Madre Santísima. Cada uno
llevará su propio almuerzo. En el Santuario hay mesas de picnic. Tendremos Misa dominical en los jardines del santuario. El costo de la
peregrinación es de $25.
Si viaja en su carro, el costo es de $10 por persona incluyendo niños mayores de 10 años. Este pago es solicitado por los sacerdotes del santuario
para el mantenimiento del mismo.

Se hace un llamado a todos los ministros litúrgicos para que por favor
actualicen sus datos y disposición de seguir sirviendo en el ministerio, y
también si hay personas interesadas en servir a la parroquia. Por favor

Muéstrale tu Talento a Nuestra Madre
¿Cantas, recitas, tocas un instrumento musical, perteneces a un grupo
folclórico, etc.? La Parroquia de la Catedral te invita a que honres a nuestra Madre del Cielo con tus talentos el próximo domingo 11 y lunes 12 de
diciembre, cuando celebraremos la Festividad de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Si te gustaría participar en el casting y ensayo, llama a la oficina
parroquial, antes del viernes 14 de octubre, de miércoles a viernes y danos tu nombre, numero de teléfono y cualidad que tienes. Luego te contactaremos para darte la hora, fecha y lugar de la audición.
Bendición Matrimonial
“Porque lo que Dios unió, nada ni nadie lo puede separar.” Las parejas
que tengan de 1 a 50 años o mas de casados por la iglesia, y quieran participar en la Bendición Matrimonial, comuníquense a la oficina parroquial.
Posteriormente tendrán una charla con el padre José Luis. La Bendición
matrimonial será el 10 de diciembre.

Requisitos para Matrimonio
1. Los novios deben presentar: A) Acta de
bautismo actualizada para matrimonio; B)
Copia del acta de nacimiento. C) Si están casados por lo civil, presentar copia del acta; D)
Acta de confirmación.
2. Si a alguno de los contrayentes le faltara
algún sacramento, por favor llame a la oficina
parroquial para mayor información o para inscribirse en el programa de educación religiosa
para adultos.
3. Asistir a 3 platicas dadas por la diócesis:
A) Amor Real. B) Plan de Dios. C) Tomar
una clase de Planificación Familiar Natural.
