FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
First Reading: Acts 13:14, 43-52
Paul and Barnabas addressed many people, and large
crowds gathered to hear them. Some of the Jews
became jealous, and argued with whatever Paul said.
But Paul and Barnabas continued preaching their
message of salvation and everlasting life, until they
were eventually forced to leave the town.
Second Reading: Revelation 7:9, 14b-17
John saw a vision of many people surrounding a throne
and the Lamb. One of the elders told him these were
the people who had survived great periods of trial, but
maintained strong faith in God. Now they would
receive eternal protection and comfort from God as
reward for their loyalty.
Gospel: John 10:27-30
Jesus states that his sheep know his voice and follow
him, and will receive eternal life. Jesus also says that no
one can snatch his followers away, because God is
greater than anyone who might try, and Jesus is one
with God.
“My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they
follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall
never perish. No one can take them out of my
hand.”
Three verbs – hear, know, follow. As I listen to the
Good Shepherd, I ask three questions.
How clear is my hearing? What is the Lord saying to
me, asking of me? How wrong it would be to presume
that I have listened to His call, without taking time to
reflect upon it.
How I wish I could know the Lord, as He knows me.
He fills me with gifts, which I sometimes do not use.
He wants the best for me, and I sometimes settle for
less or mediocrity. He asks me to be responsible and
accountable in my serving Him in others.
How closely do I give in to follow the Lord? Do I keep
a safe distance or try to take giant steps to be closer to
Him.
On this Good Shepherd weekend I find comfort as He
calls, leads, feeds and heals me. I am also aware that I
need to hear, listen, know and follow Him more
closely.
Fourth Sunday of Easter

Today’s gospel reminds us to be shepherds for our
children who depend on us to be their guides and role
models. Where are we leading them? When they “hear
our voice” what message do they hear?

CRS Rice Bowl: Hungering For Celebration
We prayed, fasted and gave alms-and now we celebrate!
Our Lenten journey with CRS Rice Bowl ends in our
own hearts, where Jesus reigns forever. Let us rejoice
in our risen Lord-and in the lives we’ve changed this
Lent in Colombia, Laos, Rwanda, Honduras,
Madagascar and all over the world! Don’t forget to
turn in your CRS Rice Bowl at every mass until
Sunday, April 17, 2016.
Many thanks to all who are participating in Operation
Rice Bowl this year. Please bring your Rice Bowls, or
the envelope distributed with your Rice Bowl at the
beginning of lent. They may be placed in any of the
collection baskets or can be dropped off at the parish
office over the next three weeks. Thank you always for
your generosity.
Soldiers of Truth Youth Group
We would like to invite all our young parishioners, ages
13-20 years old, of St. Therese and neighboring
churches, to join our Soldiers of Truth Youth Group.
They meet up at the rectory basement every Friday
from 7:00-8:30 pm. For more information contact

Primera Lectura: Hechos 13:14, 43-52
Pablo y Barnabás se dirigían a una gran multitud que se
había congregado para escucharlos. Algunos de los
judíos se pusieron celosos y contradecían a Pablo. Pero
Pablo y Barnabás continuaron predicando el mensaje
de salvación y vida eterna, hasta que eventualmente los
echaron de la región.
Segunda Lectura: Apocalipsis 7:9, 14b-17
Juan tuvo una visión de mucha gente alrededor de un
trono y un Cordero. Uno de los ancianos le dijo que
esa era gente que había pasado por gran aflicción, pero
que se mantuvo fuerte en la fé de Dios. Ahora ellos
recibirían eterna protección y cuidado de Dios como
recompensa por su lealtad.
Evangelio: San Juan 10:27-30
Jesús declara que sus ovejas conoces su voz y lo siguen,
y que recibirán vida eterna. También dice que nadie
puede llevarse a sus seguidores, pues Dios es grande, y
Jesús es uno con Dios.
“Mis ovejas escuchan mi voz, yo las conozco y
ellas me siguen. Yo les doy Vida eterna: ellas no
perecerán jamás y nadie las arrebatará de mis
manos.”
Tres verbos: escuchar, conocer, seguir. Al escuchar al
Buen Pastor, me hago tres preguntas:
¿Qué tan claramente escucho? ¿Qué me está diciendo
el Señor, qué está pidiéndome? Qué mal sería asumir
que he escuchado Su llamado sin detenerme a
reflexionar sobre ello.
Cuánto quisiera conocer al Señor como El me conoce
a mí. Me llena de dones que muchas veces no uso. El
desea lo mejor para mí, y yo a veces me conformo con
menos o mediocridad. Me pide ser responsable y dar
cuenta de mi servicio a El en otros.
¿Qué tan de cerca sigo al Señor? ¿Mantengo una
distancia prudente o trato de tomar pasos gigantescos
para acercarme a El?
