All teachers, staff and volunteers in
the Archdiocese must undergo fingerprinting and criminal background checks. Archdiocesan
guidelines and abuse prevention
training programs currently in use
in the Archdiocese emphasize the
importance of parents knowing
who has access to their children at
school and other church-sponsored
activities. Summertime is here, and
parents should remain vigilant regarding who is granted access to
their children. Make sure camp
counselors have undergone criminal background checks. And, make
sure you know the camp’s “daily
routine.” In particular, make sure
that no camp activity results in a
child being left alone with one
adult. All activities should be supervised by more than one adult, and

FROM MS. ANA MARIA RANGEL, NEW DIRECTOR OF
CONFIRMATION AND YOUTH MINISTRY...
I am very excited to be heading up the new Confirmation and Youth Ministry program here at
St. Andrew. I have been a volunteer at the Children’s Liturgy Program for the past three years. I
had the privilege of preparing the 8th grade retreat for St. Andrew School this past May, and was
also part of the Confirmation Mass Team.
Over the past couple of months I have been working hard to ensure this year’s program has a
new youthful energy. I am looking forward to sharing my faith journey with our teens and am
truly excited to have them embark on this year’s faith formation process with new tools and resources. As one of five children, with a strong Catholic family foundation, I am very in tuned
with the pressures that face our youth. The message I wish to share with them is this: with a
strong faith foundation there is nothing that God won’t see them through.

MINISTRY FAIR FOR ALL MINISTRY LEADERS!
Attention All Ministry Leaders: We are pleased to announce we will be hosting a Ministry Fair
for our Second Year Confirmation Students on Sunday, September 14, directly after the 9:30 a.m.

very excited to kick off our Confirmation Year with all of you and show our students the wide
range of opportunities that St. Andrew has to offer.
FROM THE CONFIRMATION DEPARTMENT...
We are very excited to announce the start of our new Confirmation program beginning in
September! After getting feedback from our students and parents, we decided to implement a
few changes. This year Confirmation students will gather for formation class one Sunday a
month for a longer period of time, rather than two Sundays per month as in years past. We
hope this new change will help accommodate the busy schedules of our teens, while still providing them with a quality formation program.
We are also very excited to announce a new change in curriculum. This year we will adopt,
Confirmed in the Spirit, by Loyola Press. Our committee is very excited about the new books our
teens will receive on their Confirmation journey. This series is a continuation of the Finding
God curriculum being used in our Religious Education Program.
There is still time to register for classes! Please stop by the Pastoral Center Office MondayFriday from 10:00 a.m.-12-noon or from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., to fill out registration forms. We
also need a copy of your teen’s Baptismal and First Communion certificates.
The cost for Confirmation Year 1 is $100.00 and Confirmation Year 2 is $125.00

DE LA SRTA. ANA MARIA RANGEL...
Estoy muy emocionado de estar al frente del programa de Confirmación y del Ministerio Juvenil
aquí en San Andrés. He sido voluntario en el Programa de Liturgia de los Niños por los últimos
tres años. Tuve el privilegio de preparar el retiro para los estudiantes de la escuela San Andrés
este mayo pasado, y también forme parte del equipo de Misa de los estudiantes de la Confirmación.
En el último par de meses he estado trabajando duro para asegurar que el programa de Confirmación de este año tenga una nueva energía juvenil. Tengo muchas ganas de compartir mi camino de fe con nuestros adolescentes y estoy realmente emocionada de tenerlos en proceso de
formación en la fe de este año con nuevas herramientas y recursos. Soy una hija en una familia
de 5 hermanos y hermanas, con una base de familia católica sólida, estoy muy en sintonía con las
presiones que enfrentan nuestros jóvenes. El mensaje que deseo compartir con ellos es que, con
una base sólida fe no hay nada que Dios no ve.
